>>
It's 2026 we don't use that word no more.
>>
>>729714683
As an aspiring indie dev I'm glad that Denuvo is here to protecting my ability to make games and have people support my career.
>>
>>729714683
It's easier to paypal scam brownoids with AI whores and buy vidya than it is to pirate shit.

At first I used to be upset about Denuvo and nobody cracking it but it became apparent that damn near every game that uses it sucks and I just stopped caring.

That's the cruel irony. Being a denuvo cracker is a thankless job because no one is even going to pirate these, when you could just play decades of kino instead.

>>
>>729715298
not really. majority of "pirates" are entitled cry babies who need everything now and for free.
it's why most cracker hackers have moved into turning in bounties instead of catering to screeching retards on the internet.

Also /vr/ is a collector board, pirates aren't collectors.

>>729714683
Does Denuvo work differently on different games? Why doesnt cracking one denuvo game mean you can crack them all? (I have no idea how drm works).
>>
>>729718558
There are both multiple versions of Denuvo and every game has its own checks that need to be manually removed.
It becomes significantly easier once you know how the target version works, but getting there is the very tedious part supposedly.
>>
>>729718558
There's been many different versions of it over the years.
>>
handball 2018 chads stay winning
>>
>>729714717
Of course a publisher of a game released 3 years ago is going to negociate licencing fees with Denuvo for the new version and then shift dev's resources to implement the updated drm.
Nobody is going to update old denuvo games with new drm versions because that's not how you make money.

Feels like Denuvo isn't as popular as a piracy prevention measure as good as it is should be, I think they're probably charging too much to be worth it. SEGA and Ubi bought the lifetime license before they actually got good so they're covered, but at most you have Square-Enix using it for the first six months and then removing because it's too expensive. And with how shitty 1.0 releases are nowadays, I rarely even want to play something day one.

I don't tend to buy denuvo games despite being a paypiggy because I don't trust the devs to actually remove it later.

I bought Inazuma Eleven on launch because the devs didn't use denuvo, but I recognize that's because it's mainly an online game. I think I would be more willing to buy denuvo games if the devs had a guarantee it would be removed in X years so your copy was guaranteed to work if they went bankrupt. I would buy them in that case.

For instance I haven't bought any SEGA or Atlus games on PC despite them being kinda cool for that reason. I get using DRM from a business perspective to block first month sales from pirates, but I think removing it after 3 years would be a fair compromise and would make me paypiggy way more.
>>
>>729715318
Because live service games like warhammer 3 make no sense to crack until EoL?
Why would you try to crack a game getting consistent monthly updates? That means they're probably continuously renewing denuvo licensure, meaning it's not an out of date denuvo that won't change either like with this.
>>
>>729741005
That's how it is for (most) use cases of denuvo, it was only the initial run of years 1 and 2 where they offered perpetual licensing, stuff like lords of the fallen (The original not the remake), tales of berseria, etc. Nowadays it's a yearly fee and YOU have to push the updates out if they offer them. I think some companies who purchase licensure en masse probably get discounts on renewals and shit, only reason I can think of that already cracked bamco games STILL have it.
>>
>>729715241
Gr8 b8 but isn't Denuvo pricey? I can't imagine indie devs sacrificing any more of their meager profits just to fuck over people who never would have bought their game in the first place.
>>
>>729741341
Yeah, I just think it would be better for everyone if the devs acknowledged it and put out a clear timetable of when it was coming off. I get they want to discourage potential pirates from just waiting, but I think it might get a lot of people like me off the fence.

I'm sure their boffins have crunched the numbers though and have determined it doesn't make sense though.

Nah denuvo is so cheap, we're talking 6 figures a title per year, that they can just upkeep it forever.
The bigger issue is how people aren't making more of a stink despite id doing us the favor of giving us a 1:1 comparison of how denuvo rapes performance in an otherwise extremely optimized game. Heck, even WITH denuvo it runs great, but not AS great, it's indisputable proof, and still no one cares, it's always "muh piracy".

>only denuvo game I ever cared was Hi-Fi Rush
>this thread just reminded to go check for it
>denuvo got removed just a few days ago
FUCK YEAH, FINALLY, WHAT A BUNCH OF FAGGOTS.
>>

No the point is that I'm not begging for it regardless. I could choose to try and crack it myself, I just don't care enough for it.
>>
>>729720687
Stellar Butt also fucking sucks.
I actually already bought the few denuvo games I did want.
>>
>>729742141
pretty sure it has always been bypasses, nobody has managed to remove the whole thing expect when a dev "accidentally" leaks the denuvo free exe (happened with Doom Eternal and few others)
>>
Why don't they have Denuvo for films and music?
>>
>>729745043
Streaming is literally the future gaming is fighting against right now, brother.

>>729745043
Those industries are old enough to not fall for the scam of DRM.
>>
>>729728484
That comparison doesn't hold up. No one expects you to be a reviewer or beta tester.
>>
>>729728202
Same. Single player games don't age.

The HDMI consortium is trying their best to make sure the content you watch through any display from any computing device reaching out to all services is protected by DRM.
Music and audio don't need DRM if everything is exclusively available and guarded from scraping or format shifting through subscription based platforms where the creators have to rely on other means to gain sustainable support.
>>
>>729745043
You think they didn't try? It is called HDMI.

One old-school cracker came back and did a clean crack for one of those Asscreed games, and berated the modern scene for tolerating these bypasses which would have been nuked from every respectable site in the 2000's. He claimed he made some tools to remove that particular version of Denuvo from anything, but wouldn't be sharing the tools since the scene needed to stop half-assing things and do a proper job.

HDMI winning over DisplayPort will always be a clear example of how ignorant consumers will gladly fuck themselves instead of doing some basic research before they buy.
>this connector is open source and requires no license paid to anyone to use
>this connector is proprietary and requires you to pay a license to the HDMI forum who can decide to deny you and leave you without a display connector
>they both are roughly equal in what they can do
>better go with the proprietary solution and pay more for the same thing

Is the Separate Ways DLC for RE4make cracked, I remember the base game being cracked
