The first one I'd say a solid yes, its of its time, so might seem a bit dated now, but the Ringworld is fascinating and the character interactions pretty good.
Second one it starts getting a bit weird. If someone enjoyed the first one and simply had to know what happens next, I'd say give this a chance. But if you didn't like some of the things in it, I'd leave off at 2.
3 onwards only if you really dig the setting and don't mind the strangeness. Its less about the Ringworld itself and more the beings on it mostly.
Not trying to spoil but if you ever did read I think you'd know what I meant.

It kinda depends on whether you can get into the premise. It's a mix of cyberpunk and fantasy, so if you think the concept of a hacker interacting with an elf sorcerer is silly, probably best to avoid them.
But if you're okay with that, and you like turn-based combat, they're bretty good. The games are good at giving you different ways to get through missions, they also let you be a complete asshole, so that's cool.
Dragonfall is probably the best, then Hong Kong, then Returns. Haven't played the others.

From what I've played (up to chapter 3) it's pretty good, at least narratively. Both lighthearted at times and a bit sad at other. A bit of a generic "fight the power" story, but still fun. Mostly a mess of conflicting feelings due to my wife ghosting me after 12 years of marriage and family health issues that fortunately turned out to be way less severe than anticipated. On a rational level I realize she was a toxic burden and the textbook definition of immaturity but I do miss the good moments and the company. This newfound freedom also kinda scares me shitless but i don't need to figure out everything right now, just have to live in the moment and keep going. Friends and family help quite a bit too.
I'm just glad this year is over even if I'll still have to deal with the aftermath in 2026 (divorce procedures, dad needing surgery, etc).

FFXII is okay. It's basically designed like an offline MMO, so there's the tacit assumption (at least in my mind) that you will play it intermediately. I do like the quest system where you can take on quests given by a bulletin board in game and the MMOish type combat (which is a bit more active-time adjacent rather than purely turn-based) along with the Gambit system for giving your teammates commands is a nice mechanical addition.


All in all, I'd give it an 8/10. One of the last solid FF entries before Square kinda lost its shit after Sakaguchi leaving.

The Japanese version, which you can emulate, and loadwordteam has a ROMhack for it so you can play it in English. Missions I hear were cut down from 52 to 36, the story (which in the Japanese version is branching) was made linear, and the Anime cutscenes aparently were replaced with text exposition, among other things. It's not even disputed that the Japanese version is definitive. It's on 2 discs, the English version is on one.
