Anki gives you a huge advantage, especially with kanji, but don't assume it teaches you nuance and context. I did the Core 6k in 2022 and had enough of an advantage that I was able to start from 0 with everything else (grammar, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking, etc.) at the start of 2023 and pass N2 by the end of it.

I got fucked by reading too (ran out of time)as for moonrunes, I never had to study those, but that's probably because I bothered to learn to write (I do a ton of air writing, look up words constantly (mostly for the meaning), look up the words a moonrune is used in, read aloud, etc.). protip: you can guess stroke orders accurately 98% of the time from using the rules and following common patterns. the remaining 2% are the outlier patterns like 座る(compare with 土), 必ず (compare with 心), and 金 (compare with 全て)above all, do practice exams. get your completion times down
