Until the recent HSH update the Japanese Hot Spring's collision was very rough, with a giant invisible ramp in front of it. You couldn't approach the stairs from the side without getting stopped at the tub's edge.

Now they trimmed the collision to the tub itself, which is an improvement, but they also didn't include it for the stairs.
