Having been released on June 5, and its predecessor on March 3, the new machine has surpassed the milestone with three fewer months on the market (March, April, and May), and therefore consolidates itself as the fastest-selling Nintendo console in this territory, surpassing Switch, which already surpassed Wii. The brand has surpassed itself with the distribution of some 16,000 units in week 52, 5,000 more consoles than in week 51.

If you compare 6 months for the Switch 1 and 2, that's pretty much June-December (assume they are going through December so its really 7 months) as compared to Switch 1's March-September. November and December are the biggest months for video game sales so the question is how did the Switch 2 do during Christmas vs how did it do vs Switch 1 in its first Christmas. Wii is hard to compare since Nintendo didn't make as many and it was hard to get for years.Thats the problem with all of these "fastest selling" records is Switch 2 will likely lose that record once Switch 1 has its holiday numbers included. I also expect its pretty front loaded like the rest of the Western world. It only sold 16K last week and 11K the week before, during the holidays no less, so thats probably the case here to.
