Those suck as well but at least you can choose to let people stay dead if you wanted it to feel authentic. Having a character who's death literally means game over if you dont revive them, including an entire "haha oops im dead, better go fix that with my very convienent revive or else you literally cant play anymore!" interaction is an infinitely worse slap in the face.
