Are AAA games on their death bed? From rising chip and console prices to $100 dollar games to development bloat "use to take 10 people to make a game but now AAA games take hundres or thoundsands" To the future of cloud computing? I haven't bought a console since 360 mostly a pc gamer but they are rasing the price of the 5090 to $5000
If the AI bubble doesn't pop soon the price will be moved onto the customer. Consoles are already significantly more expensive while being sold at a loss. The parts getting jacked up to highway robbery levels either means we are getting 100$ AAA games or a significant increase in console prices, or maybe even both.
Brb just buying a $5000 GPU
>Gaming used to be a moderate to genuinely low cost hobby filled with passion and creativity>Meanwhile, in 2025There is nothing good about this timeline. Nothing. Literally nothing has gotten better. Everyone has been successfully gaslit by foreign interests and corporations into being hyper political cunts, everything is fucking rediculously expensive, work life in general is fucking miserable for 90% of people, the world seems to be at the boiling point of major fucking conflict once again. It's hard to believe how amazing and hopeful the world felt when I was younger.
>>729753272>hurf durf what is inflation
>>729753272I don't think this is a gamer issue, but more of a This is the real inflation issue, but let's just pretend the companies are being greedy and our economies aren't failing issue.
>>729753415and even if game studios aren't affected much from hardware prices they will use ai as an excuse to raise prices
>>729753272Most likely AAA games will be the only games made since they'll be the only developers/publishers who will be able to afford to create and maintain video games.
>>729753272Haven't you seen the bunch of lay offs everywhereOnly nintendo was doing fine then they too decided to be retardedGreed is killing everything
>>729753272>To the future of cloud computing?LolLmao, even
>>729753627when in history have console prices gone up after 5 years other than niche dirt old discontuined collectors items?
>>729753827You think this is bad? Wait until you're competing with the data centers for electricity and keeping the TV on all day costs hundreds of dollars.
>>729753920PS4 increased in price when the pro model releasedretard
>>729753272>>729753627>>729753920The reason hardware prices went down wasn't because "time passed so lets make shit cheaper".It was "manufacturing breakthroughs allows us to make the same hardware for a fraction of the original price so we can now sell the same hardware for cheaper". Usually by putting in better hardware, but the "low quality cheapo variant" that then simply gets downclocked to the speeds of the original hardware. The original hardware in it's time was high quality high end stuff, meaning it was relatively speaking very pricey.Well, shit... manufacturing breakthroughs have stopped for the time being. The science behind chip manufacturing has reached a wall. So until some researchers manage to break said wall wide open, hardware advancements are mostly stuck. So the only way to get better hardware now is... to pay more money. There are no "newer cheaper hardware" to replace the "old expensive" hardware with. Only that same hardware for the same price for years on end... and now the price is much more subjects to changes in world trade policies.Essentially: video games are now a matured and established industry and the pioneering days are over. So now it's affected by the same rules as any other established industry.
>>729754279Whole lot of bullshit
