How does /v/ feel about this game? How would you rank it compared to the other 3D Marios?

It's the best and it's not even close. This is the one series whose games are simply better every single time.
It's fine. Could not be arsed to 100% it, I put it down the moment I finished Darker Side. I'm a Galaxyfag though so what do I know. I'd put SM64 over it as well.

Odyssey seems to have more interesting movement than sunshine and galaxies, but the capture gimmick and minigames objectives seem uber gay
Technically speaking it's the best, but I didn't find it that memorable.

Most people seems to say it’s baby mode easy. I enjoyed dk bananza though.

It’s bland. The control scheme is retarded. Crouch + B to dive, great idea. Half the time you just ground pound into a pit. They got rid of the lives system because they finally realized replaying the easy part after a game over made no sense. Oh except for the last stage where there are no checkpoints in a 30 minute level, forcing you to replay the entire thing each time they fuck you with a new gimmick. Great.

Controlling enemies is fine but doesn't really add anything. I wish there were more parts like when you play as Bowser at the end or Yoshi in the postgame, other characters that have an actual moveset and you control for more than a minute

My main problem with it is that there's so many hidden collectibles that when you're in a room you're constantly looking over your shoulder to make sure you haven't missed anythingAlso traveling between worlds is a big pain in the ass. Sunshine is a better game. Odyssey is the easiest mainline Mario game. It gets boring because it just hands you way too much without any effort and you never really feel like you're playing a platformer.

I tried replaying it again recently, years after the first time, and retreading areas I remembered without having any new "ooh, what's in here" to look forward to just made it really dull and tedious.There's really no excuse for a supposed platformer to have so little replayability.
