Just got this for $800 USD.Am I set until the prices come back down?
Yes, got the same card, plays everything that's worth playing maxed at 4k.
>>729770920well it's the last line of gaming GPUs that Nvidia will be making ever again.
>>729770920yeeeep
yeah you're fine for the next 10 years if the rest of your system is good
>>729770920not only are you set, listen to >>729771084only bad thing is its not a 5090 5080 but theres nothing worth playing on 4k ultra settings except cyberpunk
>>729770920kek I got the exact same card last month for 780 euros.
I got the Super and it's working great with my 1440p@120hz monitor, never had any problems so far. You'll be fine.
>>729771084so long and thanks for all the fish bitches
>>729771448hang retards like jensen and altman
>>729771448pc gamers how does it feel to have supported them for almost 40 years for them to stab you iin the back
>>729771619my first card was made by 3dfx, second card was made by matrox, 3rd was ati, 4th was nvidia, 5th was AMD
>>729770920Yeah, I also got a 5070 TI. It couldn't do high refresh with my most demanding game at 1440p with ray tracing (Control) but it pretty much runs everything else super smoothly. Also>prices coming downlmao. The only good thing to come out of the current shortages is next year is that high end monitors are going to be a fucking steal. I'm super glad I did all my other upgrades in 2023 and waiting till 2025 to do the GPU.
>Left teaching for my mental health>Work minimum wage right now because of it though>Rig was a 1070 prebuilt straight outta 2016, untouched but to add some more storage >Thing was a beast, ran Baldurs Gate 3, Elden Ring, all sorts of big stuff respectably without breaking a sweat way way later into its life>Figured I had a few years left before I slid into low/med hell and it was time to upgrade>Suddenly raytracing>Suddenly mandatory raytracing>Suddenly Unreal 5>Love Indiana Jones, can't run Indiana Jones, want to get Sonic Crossworlds, have to letterbox a fucking kart racer when I had Baldurs Gate 3 set to high like 2 fucking years earlier>Friends got me back into WoW (god help me) and it started off running fine but over the course of the expansion pack I went from running high/max fine to medium to low with upscaling trickery>Jokingly mention this on discord with my friends one day because I'm loading into a dungeon and having trouble>Friend offers me a 3070 he upgraded from>Overheats and shuts down my machine>Fuck fuck fuck>Everything ended up being ok>Made things work in the meanwhile by undervolting, massively bottlenecked but the games I was running before were running better, can't run anything new>Finally upgrade the PC around it for christmas>"Perfect, now I can work on the GPU in 2026 and if I can get a 4070ti Ill hit 16gb which is definitely going to be the vram max for DECENT WHILE">Now thisNvidia and AI and the AAA industry are sons of bitches who assassinated the 10 series early with Unreal and RTX to force us all onto their billion dollar bloat cards because we had the audacity to not really need to upgrade to a 20 series or 30 series and then bloated their new cards they forced us to buy to significantly above their actual worth by tricking the senile fuckers in the US government that they'll be able to create a sentient being out of a chatbot
>>729770920>>729770920But what would you play that you couldn't with a 4060?
I have a GTX 1050 ti (4gb) how over is it?
>>729772821it's over, over.
>>729772625>dude there are no good games I hate new games did I mention there haven't been any new games releasedWe get it, fuck off to /vr/ already or shut the fuck up.
>>729772059>>729772821What games do you play on the 10 series?Tetris? Super Mario emulator?
>>729770920Just bought it yesterday too. It hurts. I wanted to waitchad longer for the 5080 super but I know it's not happening.
I have a 3080, should I still stick with it for 1440p or get something before we are all fucked
Finally updated from the 1060 to this card too.
>>729773404I would get something if you have any plans to play newer games.
>>729773404It's your last chance before everything doubles in price. Bunker down to something you'll be truly happy with without regret for several years.
>>72977340410gb vram isn't enough for 1440p anymore
>Remembered the 1070 as being a 2013 thing and the 900 series being late 00 and early 10s>Go to look it up>1070 is 2016>Oh ok the 970 must be the 2010s card>970 is fuckin 2014>The 2010 card line was the 400 seriesHUH????
I ordered this card because it was the only good one in stock in my city after the past 3 days when everyone started rushing to get them.
>>729770920>Am I set until the prices come back down?yeahor some other component fails
>>729774007What series is that?
>>729773058what new games are you defending that has you so upset?
>>729770920>Am I set until the prices come back down?
>>729774105MSI MLG seriesThey also have a moboI'm thinking that since I'm spending big bux on parts I may as well get them.
>>729773404>3080Same, but I'm content. I can play games that I enjoy at 4k60 with that card
>>729774197Huh. Cool.I keep my PC in a closet so I can never see or hear it and have wires running to my desk.So this kind of stuff would be wasted on me.
>>729771084>these are the last GPUs we'll getso... in other words this means that game requirements will stop rising. thank god
>>729770920I got one too. its already 400 canada bucks more expensive than when I bought it too
>>729774321No, it means you will have to rent GPU space from data centers for a monthly fee if you want to play any new games.
>>729774360What did you get it for? In Maple dollars.
>>729774321lollmao even
I have a 750 Ti, honestly see no compelling reason to upgrade.
>>729774294you have a ghey pc
>>729774424What if you want to watch a 720p YouTube video?
>>729774007they still put sexy video game girls on GPUs? I thought that was problematic nowadays.
>>729774374>>729774321New games will come out that will need NEW FEATUREâ„¢ enabled to run properly and only the newest cards (that no one can buy) will have that feature. so you'll need to rent some GPU at a data center to play your game
>>729774374>game streamingok then, gaming is deadI'm glad we have around 45 years of video games to pick from
>>729774321devs will aim for 20 native fps and tell you to turn on 4x frame gen
>>729774458fuck you
>>729774461The kinds of people who complain about women on GPUs aren't paying $1200 for a GPU
>>729774374I mean, if retard NPCs wanna fall for that shit I can't stop them but I won't be one of them.
>>729770920I bought a RTX 5080 for 1200 dollars back in july now its 1600 lol
>>729774424what games do you play
Remember: whatever you build now is likely the LAST PC you will own, if anything breaks/fails you are FUCKED
>>729774374There's nothing wrong with cloud computing subscriptions.
>>729774454That's okay. He's never coming out of the closet.
>>729774465That's what the cyberpandemic will be for, to wipe out the vast amount of digital media people hoarded for this exact reason
>>729774610Not true I will simply buy a steam machine for $700. Thanks Gay Ben!
>>729775160>xhe thinks it will be 700 dollars
>>729774973>people on this board specifically are anti data hoarders.>say fuck you faggots and started hoarding data when the pandemic happened>all types of data from way back, rar library site and everything adjacent site started collapsing in a domino like fashion and now AI data center shit happened.feels good to be ahead of the curve
>>729775223>>people on this board specifically are anti data hoarders.everyone on /v/ is pro piracy. anyone who claims otherwise is an industry shillwhat everyone hates is (((investors))) who scoop up games for $0.50 at flea markets, then flip them for $500, and (((collectors))) whose entire hobby is hanging games on walls like decoration
>>729775182The RAM alone will be 700$
>>729775160>$700LMAO$1000 minimum, expect closer to $1100
>>729776964Retard You can get a way stronger pc for that and the steam machine saves money on cutting out modularity
>>729775223Ain't gonna matter, the cyber pandemic will spread to anything networked and wipe it out.>but I'll just airgap i-Oh but now you're in possession of contraband because any computer devices or storage media from before the pandemic are to be handed over and destroyed because they're all potential reinfection vectors, dontcha know>so I just won't hand them ov-Well that makes you a potential cyber terrorist, because who else wouldn't comply for their safety to 'stop the spread'? A bad goy, that's for sure. And that's to say nothing of acquiring and maintaining the hardware to utilize any of your illegal data hoard, all of it is contraband, and it's going to get increasingly harder to do anything without the authorities knowing
>>729777431>You can get a way stronger pc for thatMaybe earlier this year, not anymore
>>729778293>no I hate cloud gamingonej ob
>>729771026Not that anon, but thanks anon.
I finally have a good adult job and can blow thousands on a desktop, can someone give me a ballpark figure on something that's gonna last me a while? I'm not looking for a super computer but a modern mid-high end gaming build that will last me 10 years.
>>729778717Go for a 5080 msi costco prebuilt. They were 2100, prob 2500 now after sale ended. 9900x, 5080, 32gb ddr5 1tb ssd. Mine (before I took it back and made a custom pc) ran 62 celsius gpu on cyberpunk 4k with no raytracing
>>729778776Wow hey thanks Anon, this is perfect
>>729778717Just buy a AK74M instead its will probably be more useful than gaylord pc in the upcoming years.
>>729778717https://www.costco.com/p/-/msi-aegis-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-9-9900x-geforce-rtx-5080-windows-11-home-32gb-ram-2tb-ssd/4000355760?adobe_mc=TS%253D1755679221%257CMCMID%253D68592680598385632908517901119976458757%257CMCORGID%253D97B21CFE5329614E0A490D45@AdobeOrg&mboxSession=b01545ec-6ec2-4b07-8941-0db5fdec8708&sh=true&nf=true&bvstate=pg:2/ct:r
>Prices coming back down
>>729778821No worries man. The build quality is mostly great. OEM motherboard but it is sufficient. I'd replace the ssd with something better but ram was fine. Case feels fancy and is really heavy and metal..decent cooling considering was oem
>>729778845Thanks anon, I just found the same one on the Costco website. I'll probably bookmark it and wait for a sale.
>>729770920I have a 3080 and 5090, I spend most of my time on the 3080 cause I like where it's set up, and the gains I get from the 5090 aren't that noticeable for what I generally play. So yeah, I think you'll be fine.
>>729778995>wait for a saleDon't do that buddy. You just missed the huge holiday sale. But even that 2600 + tax going to be much cheaper than waiting..its only that price because the prebuilt existed at costco before the ram crisis. That will easily turn into a 3500$ pc. Buy it now - but at least you get 3 months to return it for ANY REASON and a 3 year warranty Which you can add 2 years to for 100 bucks.5 years of gaming before any worries at all whatsoever.
>>729779063Alright message received, I didn't realize how bad things were getting
>>729778995>>729779063Another thing - if I end up being wrong and they do a sale 4 months after you buy it. You can go in and ask for the difference between the sale price and what you paid. Costco will give you a few hundred back even though you own it.
>>729770920I got mine 50% off on black friday lmaowhy can't zoomers into black friday?
>>729770920You're only set until the power connector blows up.
>>729779253Yea I picked up my 5080 TUF OC at FE msrp essentially. Its like a 1600$ card lol
>>729779276That's a lottery scenario. Then you settle in court with them over having almost died following their instructions. They fund your next 3 pcs.
I did not spend 400$ on noctua.I would never do that.
my brother gave me his 4070 super and his ramhe now just owns a big ass chink tablet and bought a bunch of books (real books not epubs)
>>729770920sure, if its working until then lol
>>729770920>until the prices come back downlollmao
>>729773404I have a 3090 and do 1080p 240hz. I never need to upgrade ever.
>>729771026>plays everything that's worth playing maxed at 4Not even. He's good for ANY resolution below that. You're not maxing most games at 4k, unless it's something really old or not very demanding. 4K is a compromise resolution, where even a 5090 will have to compromise on certain games to hit max and certainly will not be reliably hitting max at 60+ on the next set of big game releases. It's not the standard yet or even close to it, so it's fine. I just don't get why people lie about anything below an 80 series (4080/5080) cards are going to reliably do 4k at max.
>>729770920Amazon?https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=8000&d=rtx+5070&LeftPriceRange=0+749.99&SrchInDesc=tiYou got ripped off. Return it.
$800 for a GPU is a ridiculous price, like eye watering expensive. And you don't even have the best one in the product line. How did it get to this point?
>>729780281Covid, bitcoin farmer using GPU to get fake money, scalper that buy up all the GPU and sell it
>>729780281Njudea knows 'people' will pay whatever they ask and AMD is barely a competitor
>>729778963How are all those data centers going to recoup costs when they realize nobody wants AI sloppa?
>>729780281They intentionally made the 5060 series rancid dogshit to blackmail you into going for the higher tiers800 looks pretty reasonable when you look at the 5080 going for 1.2k and the 5090 going for 3k
>>729780030DLSS, retardo. The higher your base resolution the more benefit you derive from it.4k DLSS performance looks and performs better than 1440p DLSS quality.
>>729781216>4k DLSS performance looks and performs better than 1440p DLSS quality.Meant to say 1440p DLAA
>>729774321Yes thank god every single game that is going to be released is going to be made with Unreal Engine.
>>729781216>DLSS, retardo. The higher your base resolution the more benefit you derive from it.If you're going to set it to performance or anything lower, then what's the point of even playing at 4K or MAX? Just change the settings to mid-high and enjoy that.>4k DLSS performance looks and performs better than 1440p DLSS quality.Sure, but that's also because games look like shit natively and are designed around DLSS. That's not the point. I have a 5080 and even it struggles with 4K at max for the newer games. It's just something you have to accept moving forward, ESPECIALLY with how badly optimized games are these days. My brother got a 4070 a week before I got my 5080 (we both got them during the sales), and he even entertained the idea of swapping his for a 5080 instead, since he bought a 4k monitor the same time I did. A 4070 will do fine on 4k with medium or high settings at a mostly stable 60 for most games. It'll even handle ultrawide 1440p, but it's not going to thrive at 4k because it's not built for it. Nvidia may say it is, but they also said we'd be getting 5080/5090 performance with DLSS enabled. Maybe at super performance DLSS settings that looks like shit.
