When is it releasing?
How are trackpads for driving games?
>>729790601I like your attitude anon!
>>729790601Early 2026. Now that we're officially in the year of our lord, I'm sure we'll get pricing and a release date this month
I'd even preorder it if it weren't for the fact that the d-pad on the deck is the worst I've used, and I don't know if this is the same, and people who held it know absolutely fuckall about d-pads because it seems there's this idea that these are worthless and we should all use analog sticks for everything.
Steam controller 2 is a downgrade from the original. There is absolutely no reason to have a right analog stick if you have a track pad, and the positioning of the trackpad on the SC2 is brain damaged. The right trackpad should be the primary interface on the controller. Trackpads are objectively more versatile, accurate, and faster. Analog is so bad that FPS games on consoles aim for you and you have to use target lock on on action games. No thanks I'm sticking with the superior OG.

>>729795148>Steam controller 2 is a downgrade from the originalI have mixed feelings. I think the trackpads are a downgrade. I also think removing the end-of-trigger buttons is a downgrade. However, adding a second set of grip buttons is an upgrade, and the right analogue stick is an upgrade as well. Not to be used instead of the trackpad, but to be used as a menu/shortcut system. So many games use the d-pad for this, and if you played on the OG SC, you used your left analogue stick for this (you used the trackpads as your primary movement and look inputs). Having a right analogue stick gives you access to the d-pad menu functionality or a radial menu from your right hand rather than your left, which is often beneficial. For example in Ultrakill on Deck I use the right analogue stick for weapon switching rather than the left, because I'd much rather stop aiming for a brief moment when swapping weapons than stop moving.
