Something I've never understood was why Shadow's running animation from SA2 could never be recreated in later games. In SA2, Shadow's boots actually hovered and he had a cool slightly exaggerated early 00s swagger to how he skated around. Subsequent games barely had him hover and they cant nail the skating animation to make it look natural

i agree
i like how he slowly built up speed

Need itsuno or someone from atlus who did the stylish shit in persona 5 games to bring this run back.

That animation made no sense, his feet moved slowly but he somehow picked up a lot of speed. It was some Michael Jackson moonwalking shit.
>inb4 yes and that's what I liked

The lack of hovering is what gets me. Its like they straight up forgot or refuse to acknowledge it. His boots barely hovered in the movie,

What? His feet move faster in SA2 than in any subsequent game. All the later ones have him gliding instead of actually skating.

glad to see someone else gets it, this shit has annoyed me forever. That one intro you posted has the smoothest and by far coolest skating animation shadow has ever had and it's not even close. the ones that came after where he kinda glides with fucked up bent legs are horrendous

Don't forget Ninja Lights and Lantern Engine.

In the Tokyo International Forum, you can see the Ninja Lights system in action. Dynamic shadows, lights and other effects that aren’t seen in the final game.

The final game removed most of the Ninja Lights system, but some of it is still leftover. Some objects like the TVs still use Ninja Lighting.

In Mystic Ruins, green bit was supposed to be a poor man's global illumination--i.e the grass "reflecting" green light.

The Dreamcast had the ability to perform what was called Order Independent Transparency which SA2 used extensively for things such as item balloons and artificial chaos. When SA2 and SA1 was ported to Gamecube, many of the transparency features that the Dreamcast had couldn't be replicated and they were never fixed for the PC port.

Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 were extremely ambitious. Sonic Adventure 2 is a much, much, much more robust game internally than SA1. I cannot stress that enough. It is much more flexible in every conceivable way, and it is really impressive how much Sonic Team improved on in such a short time frame. But it is still obviously based on SA1 and shares a lot of infrastructure, albeit greatly improved.

this thread doesn't make sense, he literally does everything you queers cry about in shadow generations

>official announcement of the Dreamcast’s withdrawal was made at the end of January 2001, Iizuka was determined to sell SA2 on the Dreamcast at any cost

SA2 really was SEGA's swan song
