Why do gamers like romance in rpgs so much?
>>
Where are the hot waifus? All I see are westoid bitches from the wcrpg (westoid cuck retard pussy gays) genre.
>>
>>729801682
It's how you win over the female gamer demographic
>>
These faggots would lose their shit if they actually played a dating sim.
>>
>>729801827
the majority of romance enjoyers are men though
>>
Romances in games are better when they're mandatory, railroaded, and central to the plot, they're always lame sidequests in RPGs and therefore dogshit.

Who could ever forget the overwhelmingly popular Anomen, thanks to the majority of female games that played BG2 to romance him

I no longer play games with romance in them. It's an instant red flag.

>men don't like romance
>meanwhile the most popular contemporary RPG had the three most popular romance options be women
Is this the part where you cope and try to pretend that the few women that play these games unironically prefer these three over the vampire?
>>
>>729802671
Never said men don't like romance, but you're delusional if you think women don't like it more
>>
>>729802707
Men are the romantic ones. Women never had to be romantic.
>>
>>729802707
I've yet to see proof of that when every time an RPG includes romance, the girls are always some of the most popular characters simply because you can romance them
>>
>>729802671
>>729802798
One is a used goods proud gigawhore that looks like Sphere Hunter and is an annoying roastie bitch
One is a female grinch with a ugly, annoying personality and also a whore
Another is a demon dyke with a HORRIBLE quirk chungus theater kid personality and shitty special snowflake backstory
Final point: BG3 is for women and homosexuals, not men.

Okay, but that has nothing to do with what we're talking about.
>>
>>729802875
Well no shit, gaming is a predominantly male hobby. If you were to look at romance enjoyers per gender per capita women would obviously be in the lead.
>>
>>729803267
>enjoyers per gender per capita women would obviously be in the lead
do you have a survey that proves that
>>
Nigga if you want male romance media numbers to appear even close to female romance media, your only hope is to categorize hardcore porn as "romance"
>>
>>729803606

no not media, video games, and rpgs specifically, men enjoy self inserting and romancing someone, not romance stories necessarily

>Why do "gamers" like romance in rpgs so much?
Fake gamers.
Porn addicted scum who only use games to fuel their sick desires they cannot satisfy in real life.
True gamers don't do romance and waifufaggotery.

You absolutely stupid bastard, don't declare your opinions on anything again, you're too ignorant.
>>
>>729809393
You need to understand that for the average westslopfag any girl that's cute and demure is automatically "anime" because the average female character in western media is a feminist stand-in cunt
>>
There is not a single enjoyable romance in any of those games. Fish comes closest but she is a mutant...
>>

Another human understands this basic concept, it has only taken 20 years of threads on this subject for you to manifest, Anon. Good job.

Of course it's the Russians who create a romance interest who is exclusively heterosexual and is cute and good and not a screeching emasculating fembeast girlboss

>romance in rpgs
>romance
Literally every single crpg "romance" in existence falls into the identical, extremely simplistic formula
>hey butifel gurl I want to have a sex fuck with you
>haha sure
>[screen fades to black]
>next frame NPC behaves as usual
>nothing changes in the game except maybe one ending slide
>total amount of text contained in "romance" content rarely exceeds 1-2 pages
This shit is almost always so shallow and cardboard it breaks the immersion. Like writers going through obligatory checkboxes while bored out of their mind. I have zero idea about what's going on in a head of people who consider it a pivotal factor in their opinion about the game.
>>
>>729810281
This meme keeps getting repeated by people that only played Mass Effect
>>
>>729810328
It's absolutely identical for all owlcat games. Didn't play l*rian games but I have seen nothing to suspect that it's not identical there.
>>
>>729810328
To be fair most romances in games are "pick romance dialogue options, maybe do 1 romance quest, have sex, character becames NPC as normal"
Cyberpunk tried to make romance work after sex scene so you can kiss your romance option.
>>
We need game-decisive romances in cRPG
I do not want some tacked on five dialog romance with two carefully wokecompliant softcore mo-caps.
I want picking your love interest (or nobody) to be a central part of the plot.
>>
>>729810574
you can literally boil every single questline in rpgs like this
>>
>>729810521
No it's not, ME romance is literally just
>flirt two or three times
>romance option asks if you're interested in having sex before the final battle
>you do just that
>that's it that's the romance
It's not until ME3 that you get proper romance interactions, and even then only with your squadmates, romance options that are NPCs (the ME2 ones) barely have anything going on for them. Other rpgs (including Owlcat and Larian) don't suffer from this, they're way longer and affect more things about the characters, many of them have alternative routes for their romances for example
Obviously it's not perfect, and you do run out of dialogue eventually, but in no way shape or form is it the same as the game that popularized this meme
>>
>>729811849
The one thing I'll always thank bioware for, even while urinating on their grave? Citadel style DLCs
>>
>>729812539
Who else has done it besides Owlcat?
>>
>>729812740
So what? Without their rush-job at ME we still wouldnt have even that, nor would devs have a clue that this sort of closure addons will sell.
>>
>>729813176
Well it's just that the way you worded it made me think that more developers did it besides Owlcat, but I agree that this kind of DLC should be more common
