The events of Zero very much apply to FSN as far as Nasu is concerned, with whatever discrepancies being retconned to fit. I say all of this while despising Zero and its characterization of saber.

It's basically a diary with every meal, every bedtime, every routine training described in excruciating detail. A lot of those are just repeats of each other. This is the fastest way to identify people who've either never read visual novels or worse, ironic weebs who never liked the medium to begin with.Those people get fooled by smoke and mirrors; just because the artstyle has a strong western look does not change the writer and developer's country of origin, and fatamoru is filled to the brim with anime tropes and otaku pandering, even. Nothing against the story itself but anyone who's read door 5, 6 and 8 should know what I'm talking about. Almost all romantic scenes with Giselle, her incessant marvel quipping in door 8, the part where you are jokingly asked to pick your waifu between the three main relevant girls, and many more. Just because the writing was flowery within the first 2 doors (the localization team got sloppy mid-way around door 3) and suddenly posers feel like they need to come out of the woodwork and claim that this is what all VNs should strive to be.Going on a tangent here but it reminds me of the astroturfing behind Expedition 33. For me personally, it mogs most JRPGs gameplay-wise by virtue of having mechanics similar to M&L games in regard to the combat, and frankly I just hate the depthless cinematic turn based systems that have been plaguing the genre for almost 40 years now. But I can't stand behind the uncultured masses who praise it for its overall aesthetic or vibe and think it elevated the medium, just because it tried to look like your average ugly western AAA game instead of looking like anime. Particularly grating when the art direction was really poor but decent for unreal engine 5 standards, however it still doesn't hold a candle against what Lies of P did with UE4. In reality clair obscur is just as kino most shonen stories, it has the usual jrpg and anime writing tropes.
