I've started playing this since I've only played OS1 and 2.
I regret sleeping so long on it, it's very soulful and fun.

tell us more about the game anon
>>
>>729809224
you can kill sven in it
>>
>>729809224
You start in a small village that is encicled by orc troops that oneshot you and have to do some questing before heading out into the huge map.
There are lots of neat little secrets and ways to solve quests.
There was one where you need to save one of two mortally wounded soldiers but you have only one healing gem. If you look around enough in the village there is a magic mirror that can duplicate it and save both, but it's missable and not obvious that it's even an option

>lots of neat little secrets and ways to solve quests
oh this sounds cool! is the Steam version fine or should I get it on GOG?
>>
The soundtrack is unironically fantasy gaming peak. Very underrated in the grand scheme of things.
>>
>>729809163
I just bought the game OP. If it's shit, I'll find oyu and kick you in the ass
>>
>>729809671
I'm playing the GOG version, it works fine but i needed a perfomance fix from pcgw on my win10 install.,

>>729809687
It's crazy because the dude responsible for it was a soviet hard rocker.
>>
>>729809671
steam version worked fine last time i played, but that was on win10. i don't see a reason why it shouldn't work on 11 doe

Just make sure to not fuck up your build, there is no resspec.
Bow + magic is pretty damn good, but I heard melee is also viable but difficult at the start.
>>
>>729809163
fucking love Divine Divinity, really sad that Larian strayed so far from it, they would never be able to make something that great today.
>>
i payed melee, it steamroles pretty fast after the tough start. also, this is one of the games, where minmaxing is totally fine.

I love being a sword + shield dude in videogames, so if possible I'll go with that
>>
>>729809163
what is the gameplay like?
>>
>>729810345
People playing Diablo-likes today don't want to interact with NPCs, solve branching quests, steal from vendors etc. they just want to mindlessly click on enemies while they get an infinite dopamine loop of gold sfx dropping on the ground and looting +3% damage to undead red trinkets. The simple fact that enemies don't respawn in Divine Divinity would make them pop a blood vessel.
>>
>>729810449
Similar to Diablo but a bit less braindead and gear doesn't rain down like konfetti.
>>
>>729810449
Anon no one making these shitty threads cares about gameplay
>>
>>729810573
i would rather compare it to solo baldurs game

The orc drummers made me pop a blood vessel with their infinite healing bullshit until I've learned the freeze spell.

what are these games?
>>
>>729811143
freeze is completely busted because larian fucked up setting monster's spiritual resistance stats, so everything except maybe one or two bosses can just be kept frozen while you chop away at em
DD as a whole is very unbalanced and i love it

>>
>>729811232
Original Sin

>>729811337
Depends on the level, I coudn't do shit against the troll king when you encounter him naturally until I've leveld a bunch and could overcome his resistances.
Some regular mobs still can't be frozen like the lizard mages.
>>
>>729810121
Melee is absurdly OP if you get a frost weapon drop. It freezes the enemy on every hit, completely trivializing the game.

You can also just grab the scorpion traps from the thief tree, and it's basically insanely OP minions that clean up the map for you.

Or you could actually play the game, which is probably more fun lmao. BTW, I believe one of the earlier areas has a bed that you can steal and literally put into your inventory and then you can pull it out whenever you need to rest, not even Bethesda games have things like this.
>>
>>729811545
oh shit you're right, it's been a while
it was frost on weapon i was thinking of like this anon said
>>729811671
bypasses spiritual resistance so it's just a permanent stunlock on any enemy
>>
>>729810449
The combat is literally Diablo 2, down to the same animations and pace, no party members. But the world and quest designs are like Ultima 7. You're a zoomer and don't know wtf is Ultima, so I'll just say open ended and with attention to detail.
>>
>>729811671
>I believe one of the earlier areas has a bed
There's an abandoned house with a bed and storage trunk that I just dropped the teleporter at.
>>
>>729809163
Unfortunately it doesn't run very well on modern pcs.
>>
>>729812051
works perfectly after applying the performance patch

some soviet gramps (RIP btw) composed this kino

Unc really thinks ultima is some obscure thing, this is what no sex does to a motherfucker
>>
>>729809163
play Divinity 2 Ego Draconis too if you haven't already, game is criminally underrated and most people dont even know about it and just default to OS2 if you say Divinity 2. damn shame
>>
>>729812051
there's always a fix on pcgamingwiki, if you cant find a fix there it must be some obscure jap only PC game which was already a mega rarity
>>

No it's problematic and heavily outdated. The UX is horrible, the UI is avoid from anykind of QoL, the game doesn't respects your time (too much filler gameplay between story segments) and so on.

It's just a horrible aged crude RPG from the early 00s.
>>
>>729812391
>No it's problematic
fuck off anita.
>>
>>729812051
it works fine, look at the pcgamingwiki page and the steam guides section
i played through it a few months ago on win11, all i had to do was tinker with dgvoodoo a little bit

>>729812367
not as good as DD and a fair bit more linear, but still a good game, worth playing
>>
>>729812249
I replayed Ego Draconis (well, actually Dragon Knight Saga, because it comes with the expansion nowadays) a couple years back and holy shit the melee combat is gigajank, but archery is pretty fun.

Also, you need a fan patch from Steam forums to fix the micro-stutter. Old game.
>>
>>729812367
its considered the black sheep of the series and I only played it for a few hours as a kid but i remember having fun and thoroughly getting immersed in the grim atmosphere
>>
>>729809163
I replayed it after the Divinity announcement. Aged pretty well apart from the desert being shitty and full of damage sponges. Game railroads you into being a Sword + Shield build due to the gear and Dragon Armor, but magic can work as support.
>>
>>729812447
I not meant the content, i meant the whole game is devoid of qol stuff. It just full with filler needless gameplay between the quests and dialogue and so on.
>>
>>729812367
Considered the worst Larian game by a landslide, but if you want more DivDiv and more of Pokrovsky's sick tunes, it's there.

Also, you play as 2 characters simultaneously, sort like Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, you create one character and the other is a black knight, who is revealed to be someone very important (for the entire series) at the end of the game. So if you care about the lore, that's another reason to try it.
>>
>>729809163
Still my favorite Larian game. In hindsight it's interesting how they kind of went full circle and incorporated a lot of the interactivity to Original Sin.

Blending simple but satisfying Diablo 2 combat with "traditional" CRPG quests and story is such a good and obvious idea, but there's still almost no games that seem to do it. At least that I can find.

>>729812531
Shame they never went back to the concept(I mean unless you count Dragon Commander). Being able to turn into a dragon at will has so much potential but it's clear they were held back a lot by the limited hardware and budget. Fuck, I might have to replay it again now.
>>
>>729812531
combat was pretty fun for me but iirc melee was underpowered compared to ranged damage potential
>>
there's lots of porn, gacha and ai threads nowadays but it's great to see that there's still anons making threads about actual videogames, even better trying to make other people play a game they think it's cool. Bless you OP, I love all the anons here
>>
I remember reading that some skills (archery-related) were non-functional, because the digital edition was created from a version older than the last physical edition where most of the remaining bugs got fixed.
Does anybody know which skills are bugged?
>>
>>729812531
Actually installed Divinity 2 right after DD and the game was such a stuttery mess (and half the settings apparently didn't work since there was still aliasing despite using AA) that I had to uninstall right away.
>>
>>729812391
You've never played it, subhuman nigger.
>>
>>729814414
Grab the fan patch here:
https://github.com/BlanknameES/Div2Patch/tree/main
Plus follow this guide for anti-aliasing, if you need it:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2994799455
>>
>>729814296
Some skills seem redundant like for example the ranger sight, which is just worse elven sight
>>
>>729814921
thanks
>>
>>729814474
I tried it out last year
>>
very easy to exploit, but the music, ambient and npc are memorable, very kino game
