I don't think I even had a subscription, I just knew that there was a new thing to check out every month, and it would be a significant chunk of the story, and all I had to do was track down a copy through school or the library or my friend group. There needs to be a handful of premier monthly or even weekly comics digests. Put them back in grocery stores and 7-11s and gas stations and, like, Chipotle or whatever, fuck what the local comic shops say. You literally just need one or two big quality names per book and people will see the value. Use cheap paper. Still produce traditional books, but understand that they're collector's items, not read-it-and-trash-it like newspapers or what even comics themselves used to be.
