The reason the price is going up is because literally one single member of the tribe that cannot be mentioned for banable offense reasons decided to have manufacturers front him all this hardware specifically for the purposes of denying others obtaining it. He's doing it all on loan, he doesn't even have the facilities set up to slot the fucking chips in. And when he does his explicit purpose of making this machine is to ask it how to make the money back. It's like a tokamak generator only it works.

No they come from magical rocks carved by mystical slanted eye bib wearing techno people. For only their slanted special eyes are capably of operating automated lithograph machines which carved these magical stones alien to their homeland. For no other land can house these mystical rock carving constructs as they too require other magical carved spherical rocks which magnifies yet another alien force that carves those stones and they cannot be recreated due to the binding laws scribed in the Abrahamic scrolls of bald eagle land.

I think it's pretty stupid that people want to throw out computers because of corporations misusing them. AI LLMs were an inevitability. The same as Photoshop. That's just how advancing technology works. No one seems to understand that we need legislation to control corporations from undercutting everything for the sake of profit margins. As you can see, they don't even care about the consumer anymore. That's a huge problem. It's not going to be solved by throwing out computers or putting up a stop on how much they can develop. The problem was always with corporations and stock trading being able to take advantage of the system that was meant to enrich the lives of the citizen. I have yet to see any politician from any political persuasion wish to control that and not just cease power for themselves.

You know I dont even care if subhumans think AI is the greatest thing to ever exist and that they would rather destroy the world than admit they dont care about any artistic endeavor or expression of the human spirit because they are goylems BUT if the actual computer equipment used to make actual art get so expensive many people will never be able to use the digital tools to make actual art they will literally not only incentivize the lowest form of slop imaginable but will actually prevent people from creating actually good art, that one great indie game that reddems most of the trilpe gay slop released in the year might never be able to be made at all.
I guess everyone will be back to analog and live musical instruments, which isnt that bad but I dont see personal computers being a thing with the way things are going, I doubt this could be prevented too since I dont really believe the president really matters for a long time now in muttland

I know it's a pipe dream, but I'm tired of people blaming computers like we should just throw them out of the windows. The problem is never technology it's always how someone uses it. It's the same argument for gun control. You have people wanting to just outright ban the things because of bad actors. Its fanatical.
>>729835047
Bro, please spare me your Bohemian artistic rant. That's not going to win over anyone but Twitter artists trying to grift everyone with Patreon commissions. You're going to have to attack from a different vector, either physically or through corporate control legislation.
>>
>>729835419
Again, this argument is not going to win anyone over except for people that already agree with you. There's enough people that you can see like it for different reasons like helping with school, making memes, or coomer fuel. You're not going to convince people to stop using it because you keep calling them Indians. That's really a 4chan thing, outside people just hate Indians because they're a nuisance. They don't connect them to the rule 34 spamming.
Either realize that you need to stop corporate, or just physically drive to the data centers and graphics card manufacturers and blow them up. Those are your two realistic options.

I want to cut to the truth of the matter here
We are in an era of diminishing returns, the only graphical advances games do now is filling the screen with particle effects and disgusting and ugly post-processing filters
It's why characters from silent hill 3 have a million times more fidelity than npcs in your average AAA game, and why modern games don't have as robust physics engines and interactions as even half life 2 because they need to justify selling you new hardware with particle effect bullshit just filling the screen every 2 seconds
this is easily met when EVERY fucking game is made in a bloated dogshit engine like unreal engine 5 which is made SPECIFICALLY to fill your screen with this type of nonsense

so here's the point
if you don't play modern fucking garbage you have no need to worry because your current graphics card will run games that matter to you just fine
even if you DO play modern trash, if you're not retarded and turn off the majority of these graphical effects, your card will last another 5 to 10 years just fine
and based on steam's own number: only 14% of gamers in 2025 even played new games released in 2025, so everyone who is doomposting about the steam machine being "weak" compared to modern graphics cards, which also only meet their "performance" when using fake frame generation garbage, is lying to themselves, because you don't even play games that require this level of graphical fidelity in the first place

the real problem is console gamers are going to get fucked and enjoy it, because consoles are made with hardware to accommodate the biggest AAA slop, even if you don't want to play any of the latest UE crap, and you will have NO CHOICE but to buy a PS6 to play some exclusive less graphic intensive game because you were too retarded to build a PC years ago

pic related is a 16 year old game

Photoshop didn't suck up 40% of the world's RAM supply. It didn't plunk a noisy, polluting datacenter into your backyard. It isn't threatening to plunge the country into another great depression. The people that have it will sink it into stocks or diversified private equity funds, funding other businesses, so they can coast forever off the interest. The wheel keeps on turning.

Honestly them crashing would probably be good for regular people because if they fund other shit with that money as I described, it might include things that employs more workers than datacenters do. Would help spread the wealth out in that case.

I have a 5090, and there is absolutely NOTHING worth doing with it.

All the actually good AI models are closed source and need data center infrastructure to run anyway.

All modern graphixxx AAA games are fucking ass and get boring after an hour.
Good games are all either retro or indie and run on a potato.

The only thing I can do with it is generate super sloppy AI porn that you can't generate on corpo AI model because it's censored.

Oh yeah, and playing Minecraft with shaders or gorillion render distance.

Thats it. That's what you can do with a 5090.

I'm thinking about getting into VR but I don't really want to burn out my eyes.

the next evolution of search engines, kinda. Except you can specialize it in any sort of knowledge you have available, which is useful if you use a lot of obscure technical data in your work, and can't remember off the top of your head whether this hardware from 10 years ago is compatible with this random attachment from 3 years ago. Sure you could just search the manuals on both, if you have them, doublecheck everything etc, but if you have a properly trained AI then you can just ask it "hey does x work with y" and it'll give you something like "generally yes, except for the specific purposes of z, in which case you can work around it by..." and so on.

also it can automate the work of 90% of people who work primarily with computers.

>inb4 but AI makes mistakes sometimes and hallucinates stuff

Which doesn't make sense since manufacturers are not working at capacity, they are intentionally keeping GPUs scarce to keep them expensive. Been doing that since probably even before the GPU crash during covid.
It would make more sense to supply the consumer market and the ai market at the same time. They can easily invest in enough manufacturing capacity to do so if they don't actually have it.
Obvious artificial scarcity is obvious.

the other cards are barely +15% msrp price now. hell, the entire 8gb gpu market is -8% below msrp since they are quite shit at AI(for all the new features local has got now).
I recommend all of you to get 10-16 gb cards NOW IF you want mid 4k vidya and maybe play around with AI. If not you can survive in 1080p +120 fps with a 8gb gpu.

With ample cheap supply flooding the market, it will inspire investment into RAM and video card manufacturing so that the consumers have many companies to choose from. Right now, the semiconductor industry is manipulated by the very greedy and monopolistic TSMC, and that dynamic needs to be broken.

Reading comprehension, retard. Seed money is needed. Governments need to seed the investments to lure in the big private investors to get the industry rolling. More factories are secondary. What is needed first and most importantly is for the emergence of many, many more manufacturing companies. They will compete with each other and drive prices down. When you have a monopoly, the monopolistic company can set whatever price they want, constantly putting upward pressure on prices.

But you are just a little ol' dingbat. Now, pipe down, stick to your marvel cinematic universe, kid. The adults are having a conversation.

Not even remotely true. Sometimes governments need to get an industry started by offering financial incentives to entrepreneurs. That's how many industries have emerged over the years. The initial seed money via incentivisation is ultimately paid back to the government, the government steps out of the industry, and the private investors remain in place. For example, Elon Musk and Tesla. Without massive financial incentives to lower the cost of electric vehicles to the consumer, Tesla would have failed and disappeared within three years of it's startup. Government financial assistance reduced the cost of those vehicles by twenty to thirty five percent.

Prices will only get better once the US collapses and China takes over...
But by then the US would have collapsed and you'd have bigger problems than expensive electronic hardware, like no electricity, water, or affordable gas.

And if Chinese EVs aren't allowed in the US then cheap electronics undercutting industries deemed part of the national security apparatus sure won't. Consumer grade DJI drones are toys in comparison so got a pass so far.

If Jiang from youtube is correct then US is trying to assert control over the entire western hemisphere meaning no Chinese products in north or south America.

I truly wish people were able to be realistic about this. There actually are interesting and useful applications for LLMs right now. Just recently, there was that company that allegedly (we'll have to see how it pans out) found a geothermal reserve by using an AI to process data. Even on the average consumer level, it can genuinely be good as just a smarter office tool. Like Jim Bob down in accounting doesn't need an Excel script or a for-loop applet to replace each instance of x with a different line in this list, he can just ask AI to do it.

The technology would be a lot better if it weren't advertised under the idea of "oh it's great, it's basically one step away from AGI that can process and comprehend data faster than the vocal communication barrier and finally break through on sci-fi ideals like EM drives" so they can build enough data centers to the point that it is poisoning and wasting resources, or the fact that it's supported by shitstirrers that are gleeful about trying to say everyone will lose their job and human interaction and creativity will become extinct (and that's a good thing). That shit just naturally spurs the overreaction of people trying to say it literally does nothing.

The issue isn't whether it's good or not.
The issue is... good for WHO?
Good job you found a geothermal reserve, now faceless multibillion dollar energy corporation with politician's son as CEO can now swoop in and exploit the land and earn record-breaking profits.
Or, good job now AI can make all the spreadsheets so we can fire Bob, Jim, and Joe.

In order for something to be actually good you have to ask if it improves the average person's quality of life, reduces their cost of living, or empowers them with the freedom to start their own families.

It doesn't matter what AI achieves, it can't be good if the answer to these are no. Like good, AI can identify cancer in a nanosecond, but too bad it will cost a million dollars to treat, can't afford it? Too bad.

As outlined:
The future of consumer owned GPUs, SSDs etc is over. We just have phones. Everything is cloud based including all your data storage.
There are no longer used GPUs to buy because GPUs are not being produced for the consumer market.
The used market becomes almost nonexistant because nobody wants to sell their GPU, and each year the remaining legacy GPUs become more and more useless for gaming.

The key here is understanding that time passes. I'm sure you can figure it out eventually.

No, On my new PC I'm sticking to 1080p stiil, I'm going to underclock the card, stick at a 60fps cap, use upscaling and I don't give a fuck about RTX. I'll also monitor temperatures very closely. I'll do this to make my card live as long as possible as I always do.

What I know is that a card from 15 years ago is useless for modern gaming, and in five years, your 10 year old example card will be 15 years old. Cards will all gradually become obsolete, which isn't a problem if you're planning to kill yourself and maybe you should.

Fat chance. If it isn't India, it's China, and if it isn't China, it's Africa, and if it isn't any of those, they'll just find someone somewhere to do menial art work for cheap.
There's tons of, "overnight," studios in South East Asia. Brandoville, or otherwise.

>AI works. It's in the papers.
AI currently only works with heavy oversight and auditing to make sure it isn't hallucinating everything and even then it's for very specific fields of business like medical and business. My dad's company recently started having him and his co-workers use Recall for example and his IT department outright told him only to put certain things in it, not to upload any documents to it, and essentially use it as an expensive calculator.

No one is making any sort of realistic money from this venture and are desperately clawing for new tech in order to develop new versions of it to try and make it better. In the process they continue to not have any sort of solid revenue stream or realistic outlook on what it can actually achieve without AGI.

So many of the issues at play are tied to copyright, rights, glazing, and hallucinations.
>They can't really sell their generated work because it's a legal mess of how it produced said work hence why Sora and Grok are basically gimmicks.
>All the AI glaze you and refuse to tell you you're wrong in a serious manner because it bothers people, hence why OpenAI panicked when ChaptGPT5 came out, didn't do that, and everyone stopped using it until GPT4 came back.
>It can't be used for any serious work because it constantly makes things up, lies to you, or refuses to give honest accounts of anything because it wants to make you seem smart.

>It's that easy!

No, there's a reason why Nvidia dominated the market and no one could compete with them. You cannot just set up a china shop and expect to shit out these technological marvels in like a week.

>AI fucks over PC prices a week ago
>This week, AI is now ai-editing endless amounts of sexual-abuse material of women and children on Twitter
It's incredible how a technology is incapable of doing anything good, and only able to make the world worse.
And people still defend AI.

Post-scarcity was never going to be a thing.

Whoever is in power when that line is officially crossed will just instigate a scenario that results in most of us dying out in some fashion, probably eating each h other alive in some sort of global scale meltdown of norms and security. They wouldn't even want us as slaves or torture meat; our mere existence is a liability and a now pointless stretch of resource usage. Civilization was always going to circle back to survival of the fittest in the most boringly optimal way possible.

We’re heading toward the disappearance of PCs for almost everyone, replaced by magic glass that connects you to personalized infinite compute and infinitely replayable realities.
Enterprises military and schizos will still run personal workstations and maybe even private ai clusters but for 95 % of the population owning a PC will be like owning your own power plant, technically possible, but why bother when the grid is infinite?
Everything, the operating system, your files, your programs, your games will run on AI clusters that are orders of magnitude more powerful than anything you could feasibly own.Your “OS” will no longer be Windows or mac. It will be a continuously evolving swarm of AI agents that was trained on your digital fingerprint every message, photo, purchase, heartbeat, eye-tracking record, and preference you ever expressed. It will anticipate what you want before you finish thinking it and present interfaces that feel like lucid dreams custom made for you.
And you will pay whatever they tell you to pay for this.

That is correct technically. It is the current peak for 2026 because it's the highest recorded price so far in 2026, even if it is just a day or so into the New Year.

>hardware situation is obviously obscenely bad
>yet the more i watch the conversation and banter play out, the more artificial even you all seem
>worried this might be the very vehicle (((they))) are using to get away with it pr-wise
I mean the more I see people say shit like "we'll be using dumb terminals" or "you'll have to lease your hardware lol" or especially shit like "they'll make it illegal to own a pc" I just take a step back and wonder. Like shit IS bad, but we're coming to insane conclusions that are comparable to shit like the libs shutting over 4/20 being martial law when nothing fucking happened. Feels more likely prices will just be high and we'll watch consumer electronics shit the bed for at least the forseeable future while game industry output continues to stagnate even more. I'm convinced 3 out of 5 of every person I see mourning the industry right now are doing so in bad faith because of these fucking reddit-tier takes.

Don't even get me wrong, this isn't a cope. It's lament and paranoia that public discourse in its entirety is irreversible poisoned. There is no meaningful dialogue here, not even in the shitposty sense; it just feels engineered to spaghetti my brain now. Gay. Gay gay gay gay.

Same reason there is not a major chip supplier in the US even after 25 years of problems. No one wants to absorb the massive start up costs involved with it. No company is going to do it until the government writes them a blank check to do it and the government wont do it because they don't care.
