i absorbed a lot of rads just getting there, but i popped some radx and radaway before going down. have to spend my money on something since the game gives a ton of guns and ammo.

also i quite like how the nuke shit straight through multiple floors, idk the continuity of that is just pleasant to view. i like layers. would be fun to explore this irl (well without the rads and the bots)

The glow is one of the comfiest dungeons in all the games. You really get the feeling of exploring something ancient and untouched.
Also the only one to have a radioactive pit where everything is actually fucking dead except for the robots.

anyhow i talked to zax a bunch, and played chess with it. learned about this fev megavirus created by west-tech and some tidbits about power armor. more on zax in a bit since it had a cool interaction with it later on.

idk if comfy is how i would put it. it imo feels quite lonely and idk how to put it, 'muffled' maybe. it's like you're in a little fishbowl-- the glow feels like it's own world. like a dlc to a game that never crosses into the basegame. a little bubble of the past. it kinda gives off a serene feeling, but it a more depressing sort of way lol

also i turned the power on, repair book and tools finally came in handy. also holy fuck the high resolution and the background tiles do not look right together.

robots are annoying as fuck to deal with-- also i finally learned that opening the inventory is waht costs AP and you can stab yourself with all the stimpacks in the world at once, makes fights much easier.

also picked up that holodisk from the dead bos guy, and i like the contrast between seeing 'united states armed forces' and 'ancient' together. its cool stuff. the old world is dead and we're all scurrying around in its remains like roaches. and there's layers of roaches: probably a handful of independent adventurers, the 'ancient' bos expedition, and now the player character.

make sure your rad-X is still active anon, I recall this is one of the ways to softlock your game without extra saves. radiation poisoning is realistic in this game and a fatal dose won't kill you right away.

Some interesting info about the fev, and I understand where this whole story is going now. Like I haven't seen those big ass muties at necropolis and how they've been yoinking the traders from the hub. Which makes this dead husk fishbowl-world of a location into the birthplace of this game's conflict, interestingly enough.

Yes I had to take more radx when I randomly checked my character status and found I was suffering from radiation sickness.

Also these posts are a bit backlogged. Is that the right word? What I mean to say is that I've escaped the glow at this point, these were from hours back. Just couldn't post about it until now.

Any robot can be disabled by targeting its CPU, also, like with any drugs, you can double dose radX and become basically immune to radiation. The game only has a few radiation pockets, and by the time you get to the glow you are swimming in radX and rad-away

one last look at zax, who is kind of a really important figure now that I think about it. (I keep referring to zax as 'he' but it's really just an 'it') It's the sole survivor of a nuke utterly decimating all of the personnel in this facility, and ultimately he is a witness to the end of humanity. zax also wouldn't give up any information or deactivate security so i wandered around with tycho looking for a solution (and then getting so much loot that i spent 15 minutes rearranging inventories and then still leaving a bunch of shit on the floor that i'll never go back to get), then eventually gave up and returned to zax and played chess with it (reluctantly because i didn't know how much in game time it spends and i didn't have much radx left and i also didn't know what the fuck playing chess with zax does) and then wondered if i didn't have enough skills to deactivate the security when talking to zax, but then i realized that after i played chess with it twice it allowed me to look at all the information about fev and power armor and let me download all that shit to my pipboy, so then i kept playing chess with it and then zax let me deactivate the security. so basically you have this really lonely ai (not sure how advanced) that locks up a bunch of its abilities until you appease it or just give it some company because it's been alone for so many years. and it can't move, it can't escape, it just sits at the bottom of this dead radioactive hole with nothing to do. and that's how it'll be until it eventually deteriorates and dies.
It's a little sad and kind of a human moment from a non-human entity.

They felt really tanky desu even when I aimed for the cpu but I got through them thanks to copious amounts of stimpaks. also it's so comical that the robots just pull out sniper rifles/shotguns, there's no like integrated high-tech weaponry lol.

For me it's the opposite. I replayed FO3 and NV and i got bored out of my mind. And i used to love these games as a teen. I just can't stand going around copy pasted assets, i much prefer looking at flat art and reading and using my imagination for the rest now, so i would pick FO1 Glow or the muties base over any 3D dungeon.

I never played those, but it's not like i'm saying these are bad games though, just that 3D RPG implies copy pasting stuff and generally less detail and more wandering around (i usually avoid fast travel unless it's an in-lore thing like morrowind mage guild teleportation or striders)
