You rape shields and synths with overload, rape armor with cyroblast+incinerate, get nonstop tech explosions, and you split enemy aggro between like 6-7 different targets with Shep, the squadmates, your combat drone, your turret, and AI hacking. The damage mitigation is better than any shield boost. The turret and drone do decent damage too, and hacked Cerberus turrets and Atlas mechs make some of the most annoying early missions in the game (Grissom Academy Atrium) extremely easy. Every Cerberus fight is their own engineers creating a killing field.
