Why dont more wikis have their own domain? Like the fee is pretty small right? Im pretty sure you can just copy some wiki templates on the internet if youre lazy to set it all up yourself, and youre free from all the cancerous problems of Fandom and wiki.gg and whatever else. Of course that also means you get to avoid miraheze until it inevitably goes to shit like all the others did.
Not to mention the fact that idiots cant copy your wiki so easily, so you avoid the retardation of having your wiki be split across fandom and wiki.gg and miraheze and others... It even shields against the fextralife faggots

The vast majority of games don't need their own wiki, only survival games with a lot of crafting recipes (eg. Minecraft) or MMOs (eg. OSRS). TES has a wiki mostly for the lore which is taken from in-game books anyway
>>
The vast majority of games don't have the amount of depth necessary for anything better than the shitty ass Fandom nor do the creators want to pay for it
Plus places like fextralife or fandom force google algorithms to boost their site over competitors and only a couple really, really good wikis like >>729852423 mentioned have the traffic and need for it

Most new games are immediately wiki sniped by fandom and/or fextralife. In most cases the community will not make a better wiki because the dogshit wiki is good enough. But strong communities may reject the dogshit wiki in some cases. It's hard to compete with fandom/fextralife because they hire jeets to fill in everything with half-assed "good enough" content immediately, and they are adept at SEO.

Games gotta be extra big or have a dedicated autism fanbase to sustain a good wiki.
I'm playing Tainted Grail rn and for a dense RPG like that, there are surprisingly few good info resources. Most are incomplete, disjointed, poorly made. Youtubers kind of dropped it mid game too, since the hype died down. Live service games tend to be concentrated in discords too.
Can be weirdly difficult to find info these days, I mostly ask here or do a google with r*ddit in the end
