just finished flare pool and got the thunder chip. its not as good as mp1 or mp2 but still really good.
>>
It's the 2nd best Metorid Prime game by far.

The discourse around every Nintendo game now is surreal. Kirby's Air Riders is abosultely brilliant too.
>>

the worst part will be hunting green shards if you aren't doing at least some of it every trip to the desert.
but it's not even that awful.
Swell game, Hopefully Prime5 gets a better dev cycle to really shine.

fucking fags. i know its late but wake up

I think the hate is overblown, but there's a lot of legit criticism to be had. It just has way less exploration and is linear, versus what you'd want out of a Metroid game. I found Myles annoying, and he should've been optional, but the NPCs weren't this ancient evil. They were just a mixed bag that could've easily been salvaged/written/voiced better. I like the base idea of rounding up rando survivors, personally.

I dont think any Prime games are good, but if I had to pick a worst one, itd be 2. I dont even consider 3 interesting enough to be judged or ranked. 2 has the worst world design that I've experienced. Just absolutely retarded mistakes that should never be made by a good exploration game.

Havent played Prime 4 yet but im curious which one you think is the good one of the past primes.

should i play this with voices disabled

Shitty, dead, flop game. Shitty, dead, flop thread
>>
>>729857063
I agree. It's not as good as the OG prime trilogy but I still had fun with it
>>

Title screen

Making a daily template thread is as boring as it gets.
Come on op, tell us what you liked from flare pool, aka the straight line with two retards.
>>
>>729857374
i liked the lava worm boss and escaping on the grapple hook
>>
>>729857467
Why?
>>
>>729857529
they are fun
>>
>>729857063
It sucks that it's not really a Metroid style game and is instead a linear game with a level select screen that happens to have a mandatory minigame.
>but the NPCs weren't this ancient evil.
Any game or piece of media where a character has a retracting helmet is actual garbage. It was a cool CGI thing in 2008-2009, but it almost instantaneously outstayed its welcome.
Face reveal jumpscares do not belong in videogames, I want my grunts to be anonymous and back at base complaining about how their life support is failing in text messages or with the gravitas of a casualty report.

I wouldn't pass 5th grade English with this thesis

The level design is complete dogshit and you’re a fucking retard who doesn’t even understand what made MP1 great if you don’t realise this

> MP1: tight, coupled environments, strong visual and level design imprints memories of areas to come back to, savvy players paying attention can identify shortcuts as they realise where they need to go

MP4: Skyrim-tier fetch-quest level design, go to the ice mountain, woops you don’t have the fire beam, go to the volcano, oh you found the chip for the fire beam, now go to the faggot to make the beam, now go back to the ice mountain, and do all this by traversing a world map more pathetic than Ocarina of Time

Tendies are reaching critical levels of self-delusion
>>
>>729857709
I would
>>
>>729857790
Evidently. That's how we get adults who believe "It's fun" suffices for media analysis and critique
>>
>>729857663

I actually agree with the hate for the retractable helmet, but not for the same reason. I thought the facial animations and modelling were shockingly good here, and I do like getting a face for the NPCs given there's only like five of them. But in doing that, they made it very obvious that they keep the helmets on to keep the budget of the game down (i.e. not needing to animate as much), AND the voice acting is wildly inconsistent. Some performances are decent, even with the bad writing, but the sniper guy sounds like he's trying to imitate MoistCritikal at times, it's a wonder they let those takes fly.

>think the hate is overblown, but there's a lot of legit criticism to be had.
It is an okay game that has a bunch of self sabotaging decisions in it.
The motorcycle offered nothing of interest to the game. It isn't good gameplay wise and forced some giant empty map to traverse. Her looking cool with a motorcycle is the only upside.
The NPCs offer nothing interesting and only take away from the atmosphere of the game. Which is unfortunate because the atmosphere is one of the more redeeming factors of Prime games.
And the stupid psychic abilities are just dumb. Most are just her old powerups. The psychic shot slows down the pace which takes away from the game. The pull locks down is just dumb. A couple of move thing into place puzzle is fine, but most of the psychic stuff just felt like it didn't need to be there.
If they just dropped most of this stuff and worked on the different element levels the game could have been good.
>>
Honestly the only problem I had with the game was how you couldn't open the map in the desert without it taking control off you and pointing where to go next
And as much as that annoyed me it couldn't have happened more than five times in a fifteen hour game
>>
>>729857956
>AND the voice acting is wildly inconsistent. Some performances are decent, even with the bad writing, but the sniper guy sounds like he's trying to imitate MoistCritikal at times, it's a wonder they let those takes fly.
It's because retractable helmets are indicative of an environment that is completely clogged with office politics.
Because the helmet can almost always be retracted arbitrarily for a dialogue scene or the helmet can be used to mask the fact that no one put in any work for the inserted dialogue until the last minute, there is no pressing need to actually finalize the decision until all the internal office politics, favor trading and consultant sessions are done.
If this sounds like actual hell, then that it is because you are sane.
The voice acting in such an environment naturally also just falls through the cracks due to lack of oversight or gets in simply because a good compromise leaves everyone unhappy and no one wants to give ground that they can't trade against ground somewhere else, even if they would have liked the outcome.
>>
I wish it was nonlinear like Prime 2
>>
>>729856243
Theres no way im playing a Metroid game that has 78 on Metacritic. Do better, Nintendo.
>>
>>729856243
If you’re still enjoying it after flare pool, then I think you’re just destined to like the game. Flare Pool and the mines are the most egregious areas of forced NPC interaction and scripted sequences. Enjoy the rest, anon.
>>
>>729859040
I thought Great Mines was neat. The fakeout deaths were meh but I did like that it gave a unique spin on isolation by having the numbers slowly dwindle until you were just by yourself.

Yeah that was cool in the moment because I thought (or hoped) they were going to stay dead and Samus had to go face Sylux on her own but they immediately deflated the tension by bringing them back 10 minutes later.
>>
The first 2/3s of the game are OK. I actually felt pretty positive after Ice Belt, but then it shits the bed hard at the end.
>>
I still don't know what they worked on for six years. The perfomace, graphics and sound design are really good, but the rest of the game is just a complete mess. You're telling me they couldn't come up with new upgrades for Samus in all that time? All the psychic stuff is so underutilized or just copy paste from the previous game with the word psychic added in front of the upgrade.
Like there's barely any places where you use any of that shit. The only "new" things are the control shot (which just isn't a fun upgrade), the bike (fucking sucks) and I guess throwing the bombs the two times you need to use it during the game. Oh and the final suit upgrade which lets you create a shield that has no use in the whole game.
And also during the six years, they didn't even come up with proper names for stuff in the game. Green crystals? Lava Pool? Ice Belt? Volt Forge? Fury Green? Seriously?
>>
>>729860813
>You're telling me they couldn't come up with new upgrades for Samus in all that time?
It wasn't Retro's choice, they were forced to use whatever Namco Bandai did.
>>
>>729861078
That's just bs, Retro had 6 fucking years to come up with stuff for the game
>>
>>729856243
It's never good. You are lucky to be one of the players who is easily impressed by pretty graphics and functional controls.
>>
>>729860304
Yeah, at least Sylux went “fuck this guys” and dragged Samus into a proper 1v1
>>
>>729856243
It's dangerously ok, but not bad. Needs more sylux and less fed elder scrolls banter
>>
>imagine being a shadow of a former self

It doesn't. Assmad Snoys are just running a smear campaign as usual.

>I still don't know what they worked on for six years.
Not all of that was specifically making the game
>Having to hire people and build a team
>COVID hit hard
>Still working on Prime Remastered (we know now they were making this before being put on Prime 4)
>>
>>729856243
It's a shit fucking game as soon as you start playing. You'd have to be a fucking cultist to think that this piece of shit is any good
