What is the difference between GAMMA and Anomaly, and which is better?
gamma is a modpack for anomaly, anomaly is a freeplay mod based on other stalker freeplay mods, freeplay mods are based on being a retarded cocksucker who enjoys fetch quests
both suck, and are nothing compared to OG trilogy
>>729858518Gamma is Anomaly bloated to the max
>>729858518gamma is one autistic retard's (bad) vision of stalker packed into like 600 anomaly mods
>>729858659This
>>729858518Anomaly is tryhard, gamma is tryharder + bloat. Both are "we want singleplayer tarkov with stalker paincoat over it"
>>729858864Does it even feel like a stalker game?
>>729858518I love how nobody ever mentions that GAMMA becomes borderline unplayable after about an in-game week because the engine can only handle so many objects being loaded.
>>729858939not even close
>>729858518Anomaly is technically not a mod, it's a standalone game that supports other mods. GAMMA is just a big mod pack for Anomaly, for people who don't want to pick their own mod list.
>>729858939Yes, it is just like the originals but harder with survival mechanics, better gunplay and immersion. If you enjoyed the trilogy you will most likely enjoy gamma. You can also adjust the difficulty of the survival mechanics if you don't like them as much but those are what make gamma what it is.Gamma is pretty much a stalker sandbox, you accept missions, earn money, upgrade gear and weapons and do the main quests to progress.
>>729858518Both filter casuals, gamma more so
Someone please explain to me why GAMMA is considered to be visually good looking
>>729859435>someone explain this completely subjective thing to meLike nigga, just use your eyes. If you like it, you like it.
https://youtu.be/ngHw8vVaoYM?si=x8v5pJw-7-he3a_P
>>729858518Gamma has better gunplay but require more than 100gb of free space i think
>>729859435Look at gameplay, it is graphically good. It's like modding Skyrim. There are some really good graphics mods for gamma that make it look like a modern game.https://youtu.be/slHOznY3nZE?si=lgtI4HMYxO3k5SJv
>>729858518What you need to understand is that Sseth has a very high IQ and enjoys games on a much more cerebral level than the retards he caters to in his Youtube videos are capable of. The long and the short of it is this: no, you're not going to have fun playing the games he recommends. Use his videos as background music while you play Fortnite or BF6 instead.
Can someone other than Grok's cocksuckers tell me if the game semi-frequently crashing on level transitions is normal? It runs perfectly otherwise but as >>729858991 said, it becomes more frequent the longer a playthrough lasts.
>>729859476>>729859553All I see is picrel
>>729859651Yes, there are certain addons that cause this to happen more often. This is based off years old experience with gamma so I have no idea what might be causing it but I think you can do a quick search for the main culprits
I keep seeing these youtube videos in my recommendations. Can someone please tell me if this is base Anomaly or GAMMA? Shit looks cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BitxBikwCA&list=RD_BitxBikwCA&start_radio=1
>>729859651I've only played a bit of the game but I'm getting more stutters and frame drops than when I first started playing. Might be because I'm in Rostok which is one of the worst areas for performance though. Had a couple of crashes but during gameplay not whilst traversing areas. The problem is with the engine being only single core, there is a mod called AO Engine which adds multithread support but it is only available on some discord, an older version is on mod db.https://youtu.be/YHLl7U3jhRA?si=0fdfJX7Zc5J3z0Bx
>>729859846Still looks good and better than most games out there, no garbage UE5 vomit either.
>>729859931That's not a high bar to beat desu
>>729859553Thank you, I was confused why it looked so shit.
I kept seeing people shit on gamma, but having tried it myself, it's good fun. If you're into a slower paced sandboxy gameplay then it's good, and the progression is very satisfying.I feel like the people who seethe about it must have just launched it and gone with the default settings, because yeah, there's a lot of mods in this, and a lot of them are bloat, but you can very easily tailor the experience to your particular tastes if you just take some time at the start to turn the mods you want on/off.
>>729859852GAMMA it looks like
>>729860015I guess it isn't, i'm actually pretty impressed they made it look this good. If you get "improved" graphic mods for a game like morrowind you do end up with that pic >>729859846 to my untrained eyes these mods in gamma/anomaly make it look pretty natural
>>729860243Most people enjoy it. Seth made a video about it last month so no /v/ has to hate it
Why not just start over with STALKER 2 at this point.
>>729860243i played the game and every time i got pissed off at something, someone else already got pissed off first and showed me how to fix itmost of it was just changing settings in the mod menu but i also downloaded some extra mods from the discord
>>729860393I dont play UE5 trash
>>729860393>UE5>still getting patchesGee I wonder. Also doesn't help that STALKER 2 is just a dogshit base to build from.
>>729860393Will they ever downgrade the engine?
>>729860393did they fix ze bugs? enemy ai was shit
Gamma is shit because of the progression system Ssethbabs will just immediately check out of the conversation at this point and claim you don't understand the repair system, which any retard can get with enough time. The problem lies in tool kit quality in rewards correlating with how further north the reward is given. This is fundamentally broken if you think about faction distribution for a minute."good boy" faction quest givers live mostly in the ez maps and so the yellow stashed they may give top at advanced tool kits if you're lucky. You will plateau at medium armour and C tier weapons until you decide to go to Zaton/Jupiter and unwittingly softlock your save. Those locations are so large they spawn enough entities and scripts shitting themselves that statistically one will crash your game within five minutes.Alternatively, you could play a "bad boy" faction instead (bandits, renegades, monolith etc) and get northern jobs from the start, except at that point gameplay devolves into quick load spam because anything north of warehouses will disintegrate anyone on rookie gear within seconds so you better no-hit that shit.ofc grok groupies will just tell you that "sUCH iS LIFe iN tHE ZoNE" which is a complete misunderstanding of what the meme originally represented, they repurposed it as their version of "git güd"
>>729860393GET OUT OF HERE STALKER
>>729860393bro the NPC range is still 100m, that's pitifully smalllike you don't even need snipers and marksman rifles, there's no pointalso they took literally months to fix the quest i was unable to doPOI's still have spawning bugs
bout 100 gigs in installsize is the main difference
>>729860539>until you decide to go to Zaton/Jupiter and unwittingly softlock your saveUnrelated but I do find it funny how GAMMA has campfire saves on by default, which is fine until you get to these maps, then you realise they forgot to put a single campfire on either of them.
>>729860539you can just say you don't enjoy the modpack, that's fine dude, it's pretty far removed from vanilla and it's made for people who know are willing to put up with ityou can change the armor durability and drop rates so enemies drop a good suit as soon as possible but i don't play "bad boy" factions so i don't have any real advice for that
>>729858518I like Anomaly more because GAMMA is too autistic for me. CoP is still the best stalker game.
>>729859852bump
>>729860539>>729860730You know there are portable campfires as an item, right?
>>729860378classic newfag revisionism to fellate their favorite eceleb
>GAMMA now has the Groksuckers AND the Sseth Defence Force acting for itGrim
>>729860730but campfires exist on those maps
>>729860378I played it over a year ago, and everyone had been shitting on it by then already, so nothing to do with sseth.
>>729858939nah If you want difficult stalker with additional gameplay mechanic, play miserybeing able to visit all location from 3 games sounds cool on paper, but it absolutely fucks with the pacing because you're going to have to walk a lot just to get from point A to point Bcrafting is unnecessarily autistic too, like you have to rent a table just to repair your gun, it's filled with unnecessary bloat like that
>>729860991>if you like game you are cocksucking the creator and some literally who youtuberAnon.. I don't even know who Sseth is and all I know about Grok is that he created gamma.
>>729861097>crafting is unnecessarily autistic tooLiterally how can you say this and recommend Misery in the same post
>>729860735>don't like it don't play itIf I hadn't enjoyed it for a while at least I wouldn't have played enough to learn about the Jupiter crashes in the first place, but I don't intend to argue much because /v/igger discourse revolves about making shit up like this on the spot.
>>729861097Are there any fast travel mods or any that add guides like in CS and CoP? I don't mind wondering through the different areas but when you are in somewhere like Cordon and have to go all the way to the north and back it is annoying.
>>729861130grok is a retard but i do like his modpack and how modular it iseverything that i disliked about it i could turn off so i didn't get hard filtered by anything>>729861221works on my machine, i'm doing jupiter stuff constantly right now seeing as it's my ecologist playthrough
>>729861280Yes, you can turn it on or you can make the guides free/cheap.
Anyone played Stalcraft X? It's a free to play stalker like pvepvp MMO.Looks interesting but I'm not a fan of pvp and apparently the game gets more into pvp as you go to other zones. https://youtu.be/c84QN8W4W3s?si=a0UzBiVsK4Tj2jyM
>>729861341Might try that, much better than having to go through several different areas just to get attacked by doggos.
>>729861425alas, like every pvepvp you can only TRULY progress by playing the pvp portions
>>729861505Meh, can't be bothered with pvp shit. If it was just pve I wouldn't mind.
>>729861425heres a pro tip:disregard/discard any game this faggot youtuber likes
>>729858518Can I even still buy a non-Remaster, classic games?
I like Gamma had to really force myself at the start though but just did the brain scorcher which was fucking hard with the place loaded with enemies and a 10 minute timer counting down
>>729858518I have never played any of the Stalker games before and I plan to play each one only once. Should I use these 'overhaul' mods?
>>729861678unironically easier in gamma than default anomaly>loaded up like i was going to be fighting 40 dudes in and out>only 1 patrol and the snipers were watching the outside>wasn't even that many inside the place and it wasn't filled with random mutants but actual monolith>the way out was still hard as fuck though with exosuit dudes pushing up on yougood times, nothing like repairing your armor with glue and duct tape just so it doesn't go below 85% lol
>>729858518Not enough sex and rape mechanics.
729861678this place is fucking lost mangoing through the stalker games your first time with this monstrosity of a modpack>>729861707no.. for fucks sake, play the og trilogy then install whatever gay tarkov mod tickles your fancy
why is gamma like 100gb and why does it need to be on the root of my drive? these two factors alone make it impossible to reccomend.
I haven't played since misery, whats up with misery nowadays I never see it get mentioned but I rlly liked it, is it simply phased out of the scene now
>>729861707just play vanilla first to see if you even like the games>>729861835grok is retarded please understand>>729861847i also played back when it was new, no clue how it is now but gamma has grown on me like a fungus
>>729858518GAMMA is just ultimate version of Anomaly.
>>729861707No. If anything, ZRP for Shadow of Chernobyl because that's more of an stability patch than anything. The games are good complete experiences vanilla.Overhauls like anomaly are oriented towards free play kind of a "looter shooter" but with heavy survivalist elements. If you enjoyed the grind and general gameplay of vanilla you will naturally want to try those later.
>>729861617Yeah you Get them when you buy the enhanced edition
>>729861617this is probably the easiest franchise to pirate ever (besides 2 at least) and hardly anyone will blame you for itbecause of their temporary dissolution GSC hardly gets anything from the OG trilogy anymoreI remember a time where moddb straight up had anomaly as a standalone download so you didn't even needed your copy of CoP
>>729861707Just get the enhanced editions.
>>729862496Don't do this, just pirate the originals
>>729858518Anomaly is literally just the base mod of "playing all three maps free-roam with custom dialogue to mimic the original story line here and there to give you an excuse to raid dungeons"Go to the Anomaly mod page and click "add-ons" to add more mods on top of that. Gamma is just a bunch of mods on top of Anomaly, so play Anomaly first, and if you want it more autistic download Gamma. If Gamma is too autistic then go back to Anomaly and install mods manually one by one via the add-ons sectionI just self modded so radiation is less annoying and you can pretty much just drink beer and be fine. I don't see why people have problems with gun crafting or cooking. Even if you nerf income it's really not that hard to just buy the best equipment and enough food so the crafting is irrelevant anyway.
>>729860485I used a mod to make the spawn range about 200m and put more NPCs around doing shit. I also made repairs and upgrades 50% cheaper because the grind is honestly a bit much and its already pretty padded out. Generally though the game runs significantly better now and I havent had any bugs on my 1.7 playthrough yet after about 30 hours. 4070TI super runs everything on max @90-100FPS stable. Using DLSS at native render scale has no ghosting or halo artifacting that Ive noticed vs the terrible amount of noise that was present at launch, it looks about the same as with frame gen off except I get about 15-20 extra frames which is nice. Overall a lot better than at launch and the game is pretty fun with night vision.
>>729858518Anomaly = BloatGAMMA = BLOATMAXXINGI prefer GAMMA because I might as well goes all the way with the sheer amount of mechanics(dumb or otherwise).
Who the hell would play with some bullshit AI modpack? wtf
>>729861142Misery worked as a proper gameplay mechanic, like cooking/hunting could be one of the ways to make a living, and repairs worked as a hurdleAnomaly on the other hand felt like the crafting mod was there just for the sake of being there
>>729860485>A-Life somewhat works with NPC persistency and both online and offline mode which still amounts to basically just going around the 'lairs' and fighting with mutants and other squads and nothing else - no artifact hunting, no hunting mutants specifically, no factions warring>still a lot of minor bugs>performance is miles better but still kinda shit>economy, upgrades, loot and itemization and equip progression still sucks ass and amounts to rushing to get the best gear at the earliest opportunity with no natural development
>>729861280>stalker>fast travelthis is why anomaly is ass
>>729860478They'll never release the DLCs they promised. And blaming the war is pure bullshit, the devs and their office is in Cyprus.
>>729861142NTA, but MISERY was nothing if autistically and retardedly laser focused and coherent in its vision. It's absolutely fucking disgusting individually, but as a system it works flawlessly IF YOU crave this particular niche experience. And I fucking love it in all its moldy and tetanus-inducing brown-and-gloom gloryI also don't fucking get it why is Anomaly and its derivatives still so MISERY-adjacent in its visuals. It feels so off and uncanny without everything being stylised
>>729864508>And blaming the war is pure bullshit, the devs and their office is in Cyprus. You're thinking of Owlcat, and I think also Wargaming. GSC went to Prague.
>>729864306>AI modpackWhat are you in about a on it isn't AI...
>>729864912it's always one of those places, Cyprus, Malta or Prague.
>>729864431The originals have fast travel.
>>729864978>Grok
>>729858991There are actually ways to modify the engine so that it runs on more than 1 core, making the game load faster, faster level transitions and turns off that awful item lag
>>729865113Holy zoomoid
>>729859852Either GAMMA or Anomaly with a shitton of mods (what's even the difference at that point)
>>729860539>Some factions are easy>Others are hard>You get to pick which oneYeah? What's the problem here? Why should they all be the same? You can also get heavy armor while still in Rostok. D-tier weapons you need to get lucky with a barrel for but it's not like C-tier isn't good enough anyway.>Those locations are so large they spawn enough entities and scripts shitting themselves that statistically one will crash your game within five minutesWorks on my machine.
>>729861707These mods are essentially different games rather than just overhauls. They don't have the same questlines or progression and you don't play the same characters. Play vanilla first.
>>729859852Anomaly custom, another modpack. Made by dudes that dont like gamma. Think their modpack is more focused on just make the game look pretty while being vanilla. Should be a discord channel like gammas if you want to install.
>>729865496Man, it is so annoying that you have to multiple discords just to install. That's why GAMMA on GOG was a godsend.
>>729858518picrel mogs them both and filters tourists who play that bloated trash.
What's the best modpack that just makes vanilla SoC look better?
>>729865749That is just a mod pack for SoC, it's nothing like gamma.
Has anyone tried True STALKER?
>>729865838The enhaced version looks really good but if you have the original then this >>729865749 but it also changes the vanilla gameplay.https://youtu.be/nz55OH8cyZs?si=hL-uePcvKn64pmwC
Remember anon when you see>*Popular mod X for popular game thread*>"Lol X is dogshit play Y mod (no name shit no ne cares about) it's the bestknow, this Y mod is total dogshit. The parasite that shills itself in other better mods threads
>>729866820The only anon who's worthy of anyone's attention is the one who appears saying the adv and cons of each mod without having a clear preferenceI haven't seen anyone like that in a while, so it remains true that the best way to find out is to experiment with them yourself
>Finally decided to try Gamma after it got on GOG>Not expecting much after all I've heard but I'll give it a shot>Find out nearly every single complaint is right>But I also enjoy it a lot more than I expectedI think the only thing I really disagree with is that the mod is too tryhard and difficult. Like it's rough to start and you kinda gotta do some reading but once you get basic tools it quickly starts becoming too easy. The zone also feels too static which I don't think is necessarily a Gamma specific problem but you notice it a lot more since you'll be spending more time in specific areas and it needs you to be able to grind out quests there. Like no matter how many times you wipe out bandits at the car park there will be more when you eventually come back. I think it's fine if they're eventually guaranteed to take it back but it'd feel a lot better if you'd occasionally find loners there, even if just the bodies, or you'd happen across them fighting over it. Make it feel more like tug of war. Also, I'd recommending upping the saturation in your basic light settings so it actually has some color and optionally reinstalling the grass mod for spring.
>>729862801>just the base mod of "playing all three maps free-roam with custom dialogue to mimic the original story line here and there to give you an excuse to raid dungeons"No, you described Call of Chernobyl. Anomaly is Call of Chernobyl with Misery bullshit on top of it.
>>729867101But that's where the modular part comes in, there are 100+ options you can tweak
Thread full of tourists that don't know we spent years trying to turn SoC into a freeroam experience.
>>729867101Think you'd like the RE:DONE series of mods then in relation to AI and spawn location changes, one striking impact it did when i played with it was after destroying rostok, instead of still spawning duty and having the dead corpses of the "important npcs" place got occupied by freedomers.
>>729867336So, how do I change it to do what I want then? I think the only option is Warfare which I'm pretty sure is notoriously buggy, runs like ass, not officially supported, and likely goes much further than I'd like.>>729867406I was gonna mention that and I definitely will try it if I play again but, from what I heard, I don't think it really solves the problem exactly how I want. Like doesn't it just swap out who owns and spawns there if you clear the area? I want to not know what to expect when I come back into an area being fought over rather than it being either loners or bandits guaranteed. It's one thing if it's a big faction base but I'd like a smaller area like the car pack to be more of a frontline I can tip the scales of rather than deciding entirely and forever. At least until the larger group of bandits are dealt with.
