In a game otherwise filled with morally grey and conflicted characters, they inserted a complete psychopath.

she's right
fuck the canvas and its fake "people"
death to all writers
>>
>>729859113
It's also funny because painted Clea is the complete opposite of the real one.
>>
>>729859113
I don't know, keeping her retarded cripple sister safely away from the war with the writers probably saved her life
>>
Some women just want to watch the world burn
>>
She helped verso paint his canvas, yet her family can't stop shitting all over it as a suicide tool.
You'd be like that too.

People with mental issues make the most original artists.
I remember reading about vtmb, the studio was filled with people on the edge of madness.
You know how it ended.

Psychopaths in games usually boil down to someone who has extremist views or opinions on current events that aren't negotiable. Games haven't really taken the plunge into true insanity, because insanity is a hard sell in a medium of interactivity. No one would play a video game about a person who is deliberately annoying or clinically detached from reality without first deriving a cult around them.

Omori, for example, has a genuinely insane protagonist. He is bonkers, he can't tell the difference between a dream or reality, and guns look like sugary water fountains, knives appear to be cucumbers at times. He's just not all there. The game uses this detachment to fantasize about impressionism, realism, and vitalism (which is to say, that which makes the body happy). Is Omori a very opinionated and political game? No. Does it have crazy people? Yes.
>>
>>729859113
She's the only one keeping it all together while her deadbeat parents are off fighting a pretend war, and she has to babysit her retarded sister at the same time.
>>
>>729859113
she's not psychopath she just considers painted people to be NPCs
>>
Is it evil to kill characters in video games?
>>
>>729859113
She comprehends that everyone is playing with dolls while people are out to kill her entire family.
Allene is clearly sick. She tainted verso's canvas (and his memory) and even made a fake family to live with while abandoning her real one entirely. Alicia is a wreck and Clea actually motivated her to do something other than wallow in her room for the rest of her life.
She cares about her family more comprehensively than all the other characters aside from maybe Verso. Why is she the psycho?
>>
>>729859508
>Why is she the psycho?
not only she chose most violent way to deal with Lumiere people, she painted over her own copy taking away her autonomy(merely over pettiness), she also painted over that copy boyfriend and convinced him to kill Paintress, when that failed she just locked him to suffer for 67 years in abyss
>>
>>729859113
she's not a psychopath
she just values her family more than her creations
she's on board with Renoir, but thinks she should be the one to do the destruction
and it's pretty clear that she has a particularly dim view of her parents' renditions of who she is as a person
why else make Aline's portrait her proxy and sic Simon on her Axon?
>>
>>729859113
makes sense tho she's hot
>>
>>729859724
>and sic Simon on her Axon?
she's petty, she knows Renoir is 100% right about that axon and that truth hurts her on some level, so she needed it gone not to remind her about it
>>
>>729859113
Because normalfags need someone to root against.
>>
>>729859681
>Lumiere people
there's no such thing, you're putting together two words that don't belong together.

I think you mean to say "the fictional NPC characters she and her brother made up"

That's an interesting question. Killing people is something that has multiple dimensions to it. The two most attractive dimensions are probably political and moral (although stories like Evangelion have talked about the psychological aspects too). Killing a person in a video game sucks, because they just feel like actors in a play, or some other film, but the action in itself has a sort of modus operandi, where the player feels like he has achieved something worthwhile upon doing the deed. Anyone would feel accomplished if the big bad were slain by you, the player (and by slain, I mean murdered), but killing people doesn't actually mean they're gone from the story at all, games can do whatever they want with a character's death, even add flashbacks, flashforwards and forms of prescient deja vu, jamais vu and presque vu.

It doesn't carry the same weight as an old western story where a character's life is permanently changed upon death, and it doesn't really have that carnal, knife digging impact that music has whenever a major key is replaced or a melody ends in a minor key (like in an opera). But it does make the story seem like it has depth.
>>
>>729859987
maybe to start with, but it's pretty clear that the time dilation between inside the canvas and outside is wild
the lifespan of Lumiereians seems roughly at parity with regular humans
even if Lumiere didn't exist until Aline entered the canvas to mourn, there could have been generations of people born and died before the start of the game
the originals may be hand painted, but the rest are all the product of life

This is also a great example. Angela was buttfuck insane, and she used her idee fixee to prove it. She was convinced that the only thing keeping her together was her Mama, and when she went looking for her, she never found more than the memories of her. She was just as fractured as any Pollock painting, but despite that, she had no general interest in being saved, or cured, or helped.
>>
>>729859681
She values the lives of the painted people less than her family's. What of it? I don't think you quite understand what it is to have the power of creation. To wave your hand and create worlds of life. To them, this is the equivalent of finding verso's diary and Allene obsessing over it and writing in it, so Clea tries to throw it in the trash to snap her the fuck out of it.
Would you let something you can shit out on demand completely destroy your family? Would you value an abomination based off you more than your own mother? Would you watch them slowly die because of some doodles?

She gets to watch Verso's memory be violated, and be used as the trigger to kill the entire family, which he clearly loved so much that he would die for. The corruption of the canvas that I made with my now dead brother and the complete disregard of his sacrifice would disgust me deeply. I would be filled with malice and contempt for the painted people, even if they weren't at fault. I'd probably be more ruthless than Clea.

It's to spice up the game and force the moraly grey characters to drag out their best/worst instincts in face of the psychopath's lack of morals. A tale as old as time.
>>
>>729860815
Did they retcon Angela's backstory in REilent Hill 2? Her mother knew and did nothing.
>>
>>729861185
It's the same story. Angela was looking for her mom, but the reports indicate her father was abusive, and in a fit of rage, Angela killed her dad. She's been troubled with the knowledge ever since, to the point of believing she killed her own mama. Yet, she searches for the woman in all that grey and cold, dank and rotten drywall of Silent Hill hoping to excise some cancer from her rotten, guilty life.
>>
>>729859178
Maybe that's how she was before Verso's death. She did spend a lot of time playing with her little brother in his canvas.
>>
>>729863390
she literally created lampmaster to teach young Verso not to be afraid of the dark. She created six armed floating monstrosity that takes away all light to teach him that "the night must be met with courage, that the heart must not falter"
>>
I want Clea to step on my face.
Putting that aside, the game does a poor job at making you care about the real world. Logically, fuck the painting, sure. Logically, it's just an emotional burden on the family, and they should destroy it. Emotionally, though, why should we give a shit about this family's drama over the party and the world we've spent the whole game with?

Her axon was a giant carrying a city on it’s back showing how she carried the weight of the whole family, I don’t think she’d be upset about that I’m pretty sure she agreed. I think she just hated the idea of her dad using her as inspiration for a creature in the war
