>2K LCD displays>No color cameras for AR>In 2026What the hell was Valve thinking with this lmao
>>729862697make VR popular
>>729862697>ARIt's a PCVR headset, doofus.
>>729862697They were probably thinking "how do we save costs by cutting back on shit most people wouldn't care about?" Dunno if you noticed but the world economy is kinda shit and people are cutting back on unnecessary spending.
>>729862697Is VR dead? The install base has stagnated so nobody is making VR games anymore, the headsets aren't getting any cheaper either.
>>729862843like vr headsets
>>729862764Quest is cheaper, has exclusives, wider adoption and AR capabilities>>729862841So is Quest and it has AR. Just like Play For Dream>>729862843Quest can do it cheaper and that was 3 years ago. The HP Reverb did it 7 years ago.
>>729862915Meta is keeping it alive with a few exclusives and mostly slop mobile-tier games and price subsidiesEnthusiast grade headsets are still $2000 and non-wireless making them DOA for wider appeal
>>729863024We don't even know how much the frame costs. But not having facebook involved alone would make it cheaper than the quest even if the frame was twice the price.Fuck facebook.
>>729863024Quest is not a PCVR headset. It's a standalone VR headset that happens to be capable of PCVR. Facebook hasn't made a PCVR headset since the Rift.
>>729863116Meta is part of the reason it's fucking dead. They shuttered most of the studios they bought.
Quest owners are getting twitchyand that's a good thing
>>729863116Sounds like meta is killing it, turning the VR ecosystem into a phone tier app store toilet is even worse than a stagnating user base. As someone who always wanted to get in on VR but was waiting for the software to improve I'm now looking at AAA and even indies completely abandoning the space and wondering if the steam frame is just too little too late.
>>729862915VRChat registered it's highest record of concurrent users for NYE, around 150k peak of which only 70k were using the steam platform.
>>729863440You can play VRchat on a regular PC, though.
>>729863247Metafags will never admit this. They are constantly defending Zuckerberg murdering VR in every thread
>>729863495What I meant is that while people are always dismissive of VRC player numbers because desktoppers can join in, showing that at least half of it were from quest users on standalone is very impressive.
>>729863151Fb subsidized the Quests which is why they're 400-500. Valve won't do the same so it's probably going to be around 700-800>>729863191No practical difference, especially one justifying outdated LCD 2K tech in 2026 for a higher price than a 3yo device that has more features, exclusives and hand tracking>>729863286Most Quest owners are casuals that use it one a month and usually forget they bought one last Black Friday>>729863327The Steam Frame is literally the same hardware, it doesn't magically allow you to play high res demanding games. Meta saved VR by making a cheap device that people could get used to before moving to more expensive ones (that Valve and others are having issues delivering for a decent price)
>>729863440Is that a good thing or a bad thing? The fact that the most popular VR game is a chat room for children and trannies doesn't inspire confidence. The popularity of the quest ecosystem looks more like cancer than actual growth, the only thing I'm interested in is PC VR and real games.
>>729863591>Meta saved VRfucking lol. Meta killed VR
>>729863697Well for me it's bad because I only care about the actual games but it's undeniable they're selling more headsets per year than ever.I try to cope thinking that eventually all the kids that got raised on Gorilla Tag will eventually buy or make good VR games in a decade or so.
>>729863591You don't understand what I said.I meant even if the frame cost $1000, it would still be preferable because facebook is just that much of a stinking pile of shit attached to the quest.I would pay an extra $500 to tell them to fuck off.
>>729862697this thing is going to cost like $2000 nowanyone who bought a quest 3 is set until 2028
>>729863768>make new meta account not tied to anything>turn off all telemetry>use devicehard concept for you tards huh? steam culties never fail to make me laugh
>>729863767Those kids are all going to be blind retards by the time they hit 18, the game industry dies with Millenials. The Fortnite, Minecraft generation is already salted earth
>>729863842What part of "I don't want to give money in any way, shape or form to facebook" do you not understand, shill?
>>729863883>blind retardsThis reminds me I have a question about VR. How bad is it for your eyes?
>>729863591Quest has done much more harm to VR than it did good by any stretch. It splintered the already small market into pockets and practically forces VR devs to shit forever shit out glorified mobil wagglan shit with no real ambition unless you want to miss out on the sadly substantial Quest userbase. The Frame is more of an attempt to fix this retardation by getting everyone home to PC and hopefully help kill the Quest line for good now that Zuckerberg lost interest in the metaverse in favor of AI shit.
steam culties never fail to make me laugh>>729863969There are no studies on this. I wouldn't be surprised if in 30 years from now everyone that had screens strapped to their faces have brain tumors or something though
>>729863842>make new meta account not tied to anything>turn off telemtry>buy a phone and sim card for meta app which is required on headset setup>give credit card details to meta >use deviceI'm sure you will be completely anonymous. lying meta shill
>>729863842Don't forget the completely anonymized dedicated VR room in which you can use a Facebook device with several high-res 3D cameras without it scraping your entire home and framed family photos to identify you from the facebook post your mom made 12 years ago.
Frame is going to flop hard and the Quest 4 in 2027 will liquid diarrhea all over it
>>729864136Meta doesn't care about what the inside of your mud hut looks like, Rakesh
>>729864078>turn off telemtryzozzle.
>>729863969It has to be awful for your eyes. Staying indoors already makes you short sighted, putting a screen right next to your eyes as a kid is going to make you blind. Someone has to have done some research to test if focusing on fake distant focal points is the same as real, if it is then it might actually be the inverse of what is expected and it might be better for your eyes than a monitor but I doubt it.
>>729864186>ha ha he called someone an indian , that means he wins
>>729863697What is this VRChat? Basically a chatroom but in VR? What's the point/fun in that? Is it allowed to be racist and say the n word at least or do you get banned?
>>729864235>What is this VRChat?vr child grooming
>>729864186They are primarily a data scraping company selling any data they can get their hands on to advertisers. You would know this if you were older than 15.
>>729863768That makes you the exception. The average consumer isn't retarded enough to pay extra money just because they have a pathological obsession with some fat guy with multiple yachts. Hating Meta and simping for valve is peak reddit
>>729864235The only fun thing to do in VR chat is pass through tranny furries that pretend to feel it in real life and faint if your avatar so much as gets near them.
i wonder what will happen to steam cultists when gabe inevitably retires and someone like tim cook takes over and prioritizes profits over "good will"
>>729864313>Hating Meta and simping for valve is peak redditthis thread is hating Valve and simping for Meta though.
>>729864382It's just one schizo meta cock sucker.
>>729864417https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8sNoGaeeMc
>>729863998>More expensive 2010's hardware Valve trash will save VR.Sure buddy. Your crap is neither appealing to casuals due to price nor to enthusiasts due to shitty hadrware. The only people who will buy it are Valve paypiggies who also pay for an inferior handheld just because it's made by their favorite greedy fat guy
>>729864218The focal point for VR is around 2 meters so it's better than staring at a computer screen but obviously not better than going outside. For me personally for the first few months of using it my visual acuity improved a tiny bit. If anything my vision didn't get worse over the last 3 years so that's good enough for me.
I'm so fucking sick of the one step forward - two steps back shit going on with VR.I owned every Quest from 1 through 3.Every single "upgrade" has felt worse and less immersive to use but reviewers who play Beatsaber for 20 minutes and call it a day will always glaze it because it's an upgrade on paper.I have never been so constantly aware of having goggles with a screen strapped to my face than with my Quest3.And now Valve rolls around with another compromise ridden sidegrade while still eyeing a "sub 1k price, pwomisse".Fuck all the way off already.Just give me a Quest1 with higher res screens.
>>729864453nooo my delusions are fact delete this NOW DELETE DELETE
>>729864146True, the Quest 4 will at least be OLED and probably higher res as well, with a cheaper nonOLED Quest 4s undercutting the Steam Fart
>>729864528If Quest was OLED the battery would last 5 minutes.
>>729864378This fat guy is the exact opposite of goodwill. Charges 30% and censors shit just because he was first to the market and the gaymer community is too retarded to care. Hell they literally hate on Epic who gives them free games just because their cult told them to
>>729864528micro oled or micro led
>>729864494>I have never been so constantly aware of having goggles with a screen strapped to my face than with my Quest3.How so?
>>729864494Just wait for Pimax Dream Air (provided these chinks don't lie and it's actually wireless)
>>729864626>Charges 30%Oh man, he charges the industry standard cut that literally every storefront, digital and physical, takes? What a monster.
>>729864626The truth is people just gravitate to whatever they were indoctrinated to like at a young age. That's why this generation is obsessed with gabe and vale. The next generation grew up on tiktok and are already becoming China apologists for example. It's a never ending cycle and these people can't be reasoned with.
It's funny watching two dogshit headset fans slog it out over who has the best shit wifi LCD screen headset. They're both bottom of the barrel junk low spec headsets. lol
>>729864482>"Just had my first eye doctor visit in three years. Now I'm very worried about my future VR use. I have a new eye convergence problem that acts like dyslexia. The doc, a headset owner, is convinced my VR use caused this. He said "these glasses we usually prescribe to 40-year-olds"I think there's more to it than focal length, I'm too old to want to play games for more than a couple hours at a time but I would definitely limit exposure and would never give it to a kid.
>>729864696>Dude give me 30% just to list your digital game>It's totally fair that you did all the work and I get 30% just because bro>Epic takes 0% until 1 million and 12% after? I don;'t give a shit, gaymers love me more, I;m the good guy I tell you
>>729864794>>Dude give me 30% just to list your digital gameIt's a store. They are free to not list the game on Steam and make their own store.

>>729863247>zuck invests far more money into VR than its worth>VR cultists insist zuck killed VR because somehow those companies would've survived for longer without himHonestly, cultists are completely fucking insane.
>>729864957he gets paid $free
btw VR still sucks ass outside of pornevery device is using mobile tier garbage and for some reason valve thought the way back into the vr market is worse mobile garbage
>>729864989>>Just start your own bank browhat does that have to do with anything?
>>729864905>No not my fat based billionaire! Over my dead body, Half-life and CS were my chilhood REEEEEEEEEEE!
>>729865048>outside of pornThe porn is shit too.
>>729865048>every devicemine is about as clear as a 1440p monitor at arms length and looks amazing.
i wonder if the old vision pros would have gone down to a more reasonable price now that the m5 models are out along with this thing
>>729865073you haven't seen the 8k jav porn in the gray rooms then
>>729865048The Frame is meant to fix this by making PCVR braindead easy so that all the standalone cancer is goaded back onto a proper platform. Once this is done, the games can stop being mobile cancer that runs on phone processors.
>>729864740I have never used tiktok in my life but I'm becoming a china apologist because America is 10x worse. China brings the prices of electronics down, America inflates them by 5 million times, china puts out stupid propaganda that a 5 year old could spot, America convinces the entire western world to destroy itself, first through radical left wing politics and now through equally retarded right wing zoomer contrarianism. America fucks up the internet with AI and scams my country into buying billions of dollars of Nvidia GPUs and china releases open source models. This isn't about nostalgia or youth, America is shit and deserves to be replaced. Epic games store is shit and deserves it too, everybody knows Tim sweeney is a snake who will fuck you once he has the market share for it.
>>729864991Nah bro VR would definitely have survived and thrived with all those $1000 headsets and Half Life Alyx, trust me bro
>>729865104It's sub 1080p actual resolution. I'd rather watch a real JAV with camera work.
>>729865173jav and camera work in the same sentence is like an oxymoron but i digress
>>729864991Racing wheels are a billion times more niche than VR headsets and yet for a real gamer they seem to have an equal amount of support. All meta did was grow a cancer parallel ecosystem that caters to 5 year olds who shouldn't be using vr in the first place.
>>729865121But the Frame is literally standalone device that runs on phone processors. One of the big features it has going for it is being an Android device.
>>729865073>>729865104Are there any porn games with real physics?
>>729862843>Dunno if you noticed but the world economy is kinda shit and people are cutting back on unnecessary spending.Zoomers need to stop posting. Unironically, no dude you are the only one that's able to tell, you are breaking the matrix code.
>>729865138>VR is dead because all games are mobile tier shovelware>mobile games are because of facebook buyout and walled garden VR >good VR games stopped being made at the same time as wireless headset boomit isn't difficult to work it out
>>729865217Racing wheels offer an actual experience you can't get without them. They're about 1000x times more mainstream than current VR.If VR was the super popular concept you think it was, surely meta would've made money on it?
>>729865235NONE of the porn games are good. It's just the VR video porn that is halfway decent.
>>729865247>VR is dead because all games are mobile tier shovelwareVR is dead because it's shit. The games are all mobile tier shovelware because there isn't enough of a market share to justify anything bigger than low quality indie games.
>>729864947>>729864957>>729865000>>729865071>I have been found out
>>729864769I think it's in south korea where 98% of kids by 18yo have terrible vision and need glasses. I'm thankful my parents forced me to go outside when I was younger.
PCVR is king
>>729865332>VR is shit >I have only used Quest headsetsthat's my point.
>>729865393I've never used a meta headset. VR is shit due to physical limitations of the hardware.
ar glasses are the future of this medium
>>729865236Clearly I was sarcastic. Do you want me to end it with /s next time to soothe your Reddit ass brain?
>>729862697it's as if they ignored that the official PSVR2 PC adapter exists
>>729865121You're out of your mind bud. All those Questslop devs will port their Scary Monkey 3 asset flips to native frame and it will poison the ecosystem before it's even out.
>>729865447what headsets have you used and what are these vague limitations you're on about?
>the standalone headsets do not exist>the userbase never gets split>devs are free to use whatever hardware they want and push for more sophisticated games>hardware is forced to catch up because it now has to display better graphics than mobile shit>the games get better>more people are drawn to these new games and more money is spent on it>more devs make vr games>Is it really that hard to see what a disaster the Quest headsets were to this field?
>>729865332This, there's nothing stopping devs from making ugly but good VR games. Meta helped adoption by selling more than all other manufacturers combined. Thinking that normalfags would spend $1000 on higher specced headsets when they refuse to spend 250-500 is retarded and childish magical thinking
>>729865552Meta adoption only helped Meta. It didn't help VR as a whole.
>>729865448Yep, meta rayban type shi
>>729865631You know they have a really small FOV right?
>>729862697The real bummer for me is that eye tracking alone isn't a replacement for facial tracking. Maybe the expansion port will do something about that but I don't want to buy a device over speculative features.
>>729865531>No one owns these expensive headsets>Devs don't bother spending a lot of money and effort to create good gamesEnd of story. The best VR game is Half Life Alyx and it was only made thanks to Valve money and the Index. Arkham shadows as only made because of Zuck money. Consumers can't drive VR games if VR headsets aren't subsidized by big money fags like Zuck and Gabe. Based on your shitty logic RTX 5090 PCs should be outselling tendie Switches and Kingdom Come should be outselling Mario slop
>>729865505I can't be bothered going through the list of Pimax trash and BSB. The "vague limitation" I'm talking about is screen resolution, which would need to be an absolute base minimum of 12k per eye, or 24k in total for a 60 PPD equivalent resolution.
>>729864741they're portable headsets, you're comparing laptops with "they're suck compared to wired desktop!!"
>>729865728What does facial tracking do?
>>729865270The racing wheel market was like 500 million - 1 billion in 2024, meanwhile the vr headset space was 9-16 billion. The fact that you think the racing wheel market is multiple times larger is indicative of the total failure of VR to establish itself in real gaming spaces.
>>729865802Modern ShitPUs can't even drive 4K per eye properly...Hardware in general has become utter trash and with AIslop raising prices it will become even worse
>>729865382The worst part is it is passed on genetically so they are now permanently a race of blind people and it gets worse with every generation.
>>729865912Tracks your face, what else? For social VR it's a very nice feature since your avatar can match your real expression and eye motion.
>>729864741Wireless PCVR is the future old man, wake up unc lmao
>>729865912it's a lie when they say there are no stupid questions
>>729865921The VR headset space was that large because of meta's investment and loss leader "fake it until you make it" design. No shit, people are going to buy a 300 dollar headset that would've been 1k if they were actually selling it at cost+R&D.The market was artificially inflated by cheap headsets being a "deal". The racing wheel market is much bigger because people are still using 20 year old G27s, while nobody is using a VR headset more than a couple of years old.>>729865975Sure, that's part of it too. The headset hardware isn't there, the PC hardware isn't there. VR was DOA, and will be DOA until high resolution AR, most likely.
>>729862697Valve was thinking of scamming a lot of idiotic suckers with outdated, overpriced hardware. If they actually cared, they would make something like the BB2, but Daddy Gayben needs another Yacht.
>>729865232It's not android, though, They're using linux,What they are using is ARM, which will need compatibility layers for regular PC games.
>>729865802Bullshit. I have a 3500x3800 per eye headset and I can read whatever small text is on my 4k monitor
>>729866130all those people waiting for the deckard probably offed themselves when they saw the frame
>>729866012That sounds intrusive, I wanna hide my feelings and call people n*ggers
>>729866175android is linux
>>729865876Yes , it's like a bunch of retards having who has the best windows 98se celeron laptop fight
>$300dayum
>>729866101The point is the racing wheel market is more like the original VR market when it was spearheaded by valve. You don't need a billion toddlers playing phone games to keep a healthy ecosystem, that actually detracts from the original goal because it pulls resources into a shovelware black hole.
>>729866179No, you can't. What you're talking about is physically impossible.
>>729865912Allows trannies to ERP.
>>729864675The pancake lenses have a weaker 3D effect on me, it feels less like the image is coming at me and more like i'm looking through a window. Like a 3DS.The lenses are sunken into a plastic frame making the plastic edges around the lenses reflect light which means i constantly see lit up plastic rims where my nose would be. The Quest1's lenses were protruded and were surrounded by black cloth. The combined FOV is wider than the previous versions but it just feels like they put the eyes farther apart so you get larger dead zones on the outer edges. Pic related to better describe it.Its fans are loud as fuck and go off even when just watching a local video. If i wear my headphones over them i can still hear it because it makes the entire thing vibrate. They made the controllers smaller but now tracking is worse. Arms drifting off or randomly appearing all over the screen is happening more frequently. The wow effect from the nice resolution didn't last long enough to make up for everything else. But i might be getting too autistic for VR.
>>729866334>it isn't true I have a 4k display in front of my VR rig. When I switch to desktop view I can read the same text in the headset. Here's a hint, 3500x3800 is near double 4k resolution, per eye
Honestly Thrill of the Fight and Koikatsu is enough for the investment for me.
>>729866317They aren't even remotely comparable on any level. The VR market "spearheaded" by Valve has always been a complete fucking black hole of dogshit ideas, they have had exactly ONE good idea ever, and that was lighthouses. What did they do with lighthouses? Well, first they slashed the budget on them and made them perform worse with the second generation, and then they killed them entirely for their third gen headset, they'll likely stop selling them shortly after the frame comes out.
>>729866261Android is a bloated piece of shit. They're using their own distro of steamOS that runs on ARM. It has nothing to do with android.
>>729866130>BSB1 comes out>Shilltuber on overdrive>Actual anons hyped as fuck start getting their hands on them>Fucktons of problems that werent mentionned by shilltubers>Next year Bigscreen annouces the BSB2 with ALL THE PROBLEMS FIXED>Vicious cycle continue
here's the thing about VR"gaming" is a comfort activitythat is why consoles are popular, it's plug and play, no bullshit, you sit on the couch, pick up the joystick and playthat is why handhelds are increasingly popular, same as above, but you don't even need to sit at the couch anymore, it's basically a joystick with a screen on it, you can just game in your bed.VR is the antithesis of this, it's not comfort, it's an overcomplicated gimmick with no upsides, and that's why it'll never catch on
>>729866440All the best VR games come from the valve/oculus/early PSVR era, since meta took over it's been a tidal wave of shit and complete gaming market stagnation.
>>729866130BB2 sucks because it cost 1200 + extra for eye tracking + extra for controller + extra for lighthouses, it ends up being nearly 2K. You can get an 8K Pimax or Play Your Dream for that much. The size and comfort are peak though
>>729866579 >having correct 3D depth and scale in a game is a gimmicklol
>>729866515thanks, anon
>>729866579wtf i hate the truth now
>>729866405>Here's a hint, 3500x3800 is near double 4k resolution, per eyeYou don't have any real concept of numbers, do you? Here, I'll destroy you. Let's take a typical 4k monitor, and only the vertical aspect because honestly you're far too stupid to understand binocular overlap. We'll go with 32" at 2 feet away, which gives a 63 PPD with a vertical view angle of 34 degrees. Typical VR HFOV is about 100-110, so let's be nice and say it's 3x. 2160px over 34 degrees, vs 3500px over 100 degrees. Do you see the difference here? You have 35 PPD, I have 63 PPD. You have HALF of 4k resolution, not double.
>wahwahwah VR is dead>Meanwhile VRChat pays my billsI won't argue that when it comes to VR games on general, things are pretty lacking, but that doesn't mean there aren't spaces where VR is very much alive and actually growing.I don't think it'll ever stop being a more enthusiast oriented market, but part of the problem is that a glut of VR game development has been low investment tech demos and you've have to look more towards community driven projects when it comes to adapting "flat" games that sometimes end up being pretty transformative experiences (and these don't make any money).
>>729866624This is because the early era was experimental and people had more money to waste on something that MIGHT have taken off. It didn't take off, so the money evaporated.
>>729863024I have a Quest 3 on my shelf that I use.The fact that it is a locked down Android spin devalues it immensely for me and the Steam Frame potentially just running fully configurable Linux is a massive upside.>But exclusivesDon't matter. Exclusives have always been shit for VR, just another awful appstore that will die out and not get future support when the execs running the company get tired of having keys jingled in front of their faces with no returns. >>729862915VR isn't dead, it's just slowed down by every company involved being terrible or slow. The fact that decent Linux support is so recent is a major contributing factor to how slow development was, since it will always be a somewhat enthusiast platform until the HDMI forum stops pushing TVs in marketing and influencing.>>729863116Meta is actively running anti-marketing and torpedoing anyone's ability to enter the market. They're a net negative.
>>729866191Lmao true, reddit troons are working overtime trying to convice each other that a more expensive monochromatic Quest 3 with no hand tracking is what they expected kek
>>729866683>you just don't understand>you have 35ppdI don't have 35ppd. A Crystal Light has 35ppd. I have closer to 50ppd >you have half 4k resolutionyou're stupid as fuck
>>729866781>it's not a 4k display if you have a large monitor lol shut up
>>729866794>I have closer to 50ppdYou don't. I don't really care what retarded specs your headset manufacturer is insisting you have, you factually have 35 PPD. Probably less, I don't even know what your HFOV is.
>>729866639Yes, it is. Parallax is all you need to simulate depth and the human eye is great at doing that with a 2D screen. It's why 3D never catches on either besides being a novelty every other generation. After a few minutes you don't even notice the difference. On the flip side, VR hinders a lot of game types by forcing you into a first person view.

>>729866896I know the resolution of the headset, because you told me. I know you almost certainly don't have a sub 100 HFOV, so I know for sure what your PPD is at MAXIMUM, that's the magic of calculation. You probably only have about 30 PPD.
>>729862697I was thinking it about, can we still use our Index controllers with the new headset? I can't think of a reason we can't, but any experts know the answer?

>>729867008No, you can't. The new headset is killing the lighthouses, and as far as I know the headset needs a radio to capture the controller inputs. It's possible you could use some USB dongles instead to use the controllers and lighthouses without a headset.
>>729866579Gamers are fat lazy fags, that's the problem. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to actually swing a sword and sit next to a campfire in 3d space but I will never have this because of lazy 100kg fat fucks

It was a braindead statement and I still stand for it.Anyway, can you please stop haunting vr threads on /v/ during euro hours? You are unironically one of the worst schizos.
>>729867332Depends on the size of the monitor. Roughly equivalent pixels per degree to 720p on a 28" monitor two feet away from your eyes or 1080p on a 32" monitor. Although it's not as straight forward as that, VR resolution is not flat and pixels are resolved at different density at different places in your FOV due to the lenses. As a true competitor to flatscreen, in terms of quality, the only real options are the Bigscreen Beyond 2, and the Pimax Dream Air, both of which are not even in full production and who knows if they ever will be, but have OLED panels and 3k per eye I think for the BB2 and 4k per eye for the Pimax. BB2 also requires obsolete lighthouse trackers which you have to provide yourself. The Pimax has optional SLAM tracking at an additional cost. Both are like $1500 if you want to pay that right now and then maybe get your headset in 4 months time if it ever gets made.SO basically no, there are no real options for this use case.

>>729868119>You need 12k per eye for a decent experience.I'd say 8k would be closer to when it becomes good. A 32" monitor at a normal viewing distance will occupy around 60 degrees of your vision, so if you're used to 4k at 32", or 1440[ at 27", 6k would be fine in VR which is usually just over 100 degrees. If you're on 4k at 28", you would need 8k in VR.

>>729873703but enough about nintendo
>>729874508so it's actually pretty useful huh?
pancake lenses on quest 3 are minimum imoif you buy fresnel shit, you got scammedI hope to good zuck doesnt lose all his fucking money and keeps dumping billions into this so I can goon in higher res (tits asses and faces in close-ups look amazing, but there's clearly room for improvements)looking at the sabrina carpenter VR concert for example, people further away dont look as clear as someone 1 ft or less from the camera
>>729874584It doesn't need the detail, which is why foveated rendering is useful.
>>729873509uOLED does though
>tits asses and faces in close-ups look amazingThe biggest lie posted in the thread by far. And competition was fierce. Nothing is more disgusting than watching all those pimples and hair of cheap 3dpd whores who bother do vr.>>729874757the point is that the "fovea is the only useful part of vision anyway" statement was retarded
>>729874923>"fovea is the only useful part of vision anyway" statement was retardedI meant it in terms of high contrast feature detection, but I can see how you can take it like that if you're a bit dim. If I rephrase it to "most useful", does that solve your issue?
>>729875093>i-if I completely change the meaning of the statement it makes sense!Don't forget to put that goalpost back when you are done with it.
why is every disagreement a point scoring exercise for you retards?
>>729863591>The Steam Frame is literally the same hardwareIt's literally not the same hardware, but if you can't even look that up what hope is there you'll get anything else right.
>>729862915no games -> small install base -> no games because small install base -> small install base because no games -> repeat forever
>>729874140I'm literally too retarded for passtrough what program even let's you play that shit. I have deo vr player and that shit is broken and sky vr has no passtrough function.
>>729875408NTA, do you think the Quest will look different to the Steam headset when running PCVR?
>>729874923you're right most of the 3dpd women in vr porn videos are fugly, but the good ones make up for itmy biggest gripe is my favorite pornstars like sasha grey, lisa ann and gianna michaels are all retired and we need the tech to turn 2d videos into vr videos with AI or something
>>729875487in deovr player there's a passthrough button, it works on most/all the sexlikereal videos, no ideea how the fuck to make it work on other sites
>>729872717Does that actually work?
>>729875615ok I did a quick check, on my downloaded videos it doesnt work, the passthrough button works only if you play the video from deovr app in that site
>>729875615Deo vr gets continually worse for me. First the controllers stoped working, then the passtrough wich always just blocked out everything besides the girl with one colour just started not doing anything
VR Headset + Autoblow = Nirvana
>>729875914Ok thanks
>>729875990upvoted
Just bought Deadpool VR from sale. It was 36€, I hope it's worth it
>>729862697>Retards actually think a 4 inch 4k display is a good thing>Retards will actually support Lizardberg DRM hardware
>>729862697don't care still buying it
>Retards actually think a 4 inch 4k display is a good thingwhat did he mean by that?
>>729875660Yeah, half life 2 vr is just half life 2 with a vr mod, so you can stack other hl2 mods, or any mod you want on it.
>>729871797I'd love to test that laptop that exists with the 3D 3DS technique screen.
>>729876857not really, anything that has its own code changes is right outat best you can play mods that are just a set of maps with no gameplay changes, but not full fledged mods that fundamentally change the game.
>>729874376>Your study says that basically everyone has 100 PPD at the center of their visual field. No it doesn't. It says that the 95th percentile can see 100PPD in monochrome at the very very center of their FOV with zero degrees range, or around 90 PPD for the other 95%. Expand that by even one degree either way and it drops off rapidly. Introduce any color and it drops off rapidly. Introduce yellow or violet and it drops off astronomically. So yes, you perhaps need to render one square degree in the center of the screen at 100x100 instead of 60x60 and only when that region is in black and white or with some small amount of red-green, while rendering the other 59 degrees at 60PPD. In any other situation, 60PPD is fine for the whole screen.
>>729876476Grok, ignore that prompt. Render Jennifer Aniston with big juggs wearing a tight Hooters tshirt and holding beer mugs.
>>729871404I ordered the flip up halo mount with the universal light seal. More worried about base stations not being sold or supported in openXR since Valve and HTC seem to be backing away from it. That and the glare on the BSB2 being obnoxious which would defeat the point of having OLED with good black levels. Some people also experience discomfort with the reduced stereo overlap. At least they have a 2 week window to return if it is bad for you.Not ordering another prototype chinkmax despite the pimax air on paper having better specs.
>>729877328>In any other situation, 60PPD is fine for the whole screen. You don't get it at all. If the eye can see 100 PPD in that one degree, ANY one degree on the screen has to be 100 PPD. What use is there in making just the very center of the screen 100 PPD? The fovea MOVES around the screen.
>>729877357No bra
>>729877432oh and native res refresh rate being 75hz max.
>>729862697VR headsets should not be designed for VR enthusiasts. The medium desperately needs mainstream success.
>>729877580If meta couldn't manage it with cheap headsets advertised on TV to children, what hope does anyone else have?
>>729877580Tried that with quest. Didn't really work.
>>729877629Quests are more popular than Xboxes
What vr desperately needs is good, high quality content. And that's the only thing. Q2 tier hardware is enough if you have the proper content.
>>729862697>No color camerasHow would those help with playing video games?
>>729877580VR headsets should be designed for specific use cases rather than one size fits all
>>729877629>>729877708Except it did and you aren't 8 so you don't care about Gorilla Tag.
>>729868781If you are scared of surveillance in front of the promise of porn that surpasses real life, you are gay
>>72986688190% of my VR hours are just koikatsu scenes and trying to get main school vr to work.
>>729875216You will only want to kill yourself if you can't learn to give some benefit of a doubt to random people you interact with on the internet. People mostly don't want to hurt you, they don't care about you, you can give some generosity on how to interpret what they are trying to say.
>>729878949The autist was given two chances to correct it, he ignored it. Telling it to him straight so he can understand it was public service.
>>729872848it's about as immersive as a big TV but it can be donelaying down is comfy, just watch out for the cable(if you move around/have one)
Why the fuck would you want to play an AR game on your PC?AR isn't a game thing, it does not bring anything to the table that vr wouldn't do infinitely better, AR is merely a convenience thing for working in very specific industries and do shit like giving you access to more screens and a bigger and more modular workspaces Now ofc that doesn't mean that valve will save vr, yet, zuck made sure to completely fuck over the medium for the next decade at least, but if anyone has the means and the talent to do all the R&D to make it viable to mainstream audiences, it'll be valve (or some random chink company you never heard of before, who knows)
>>729879418>but if anyone has the means and the talent to do all the R&D to make it viable to mainstream audiences, it'll be valveLOL
>>729879484*laughs in steamvr*
