what makes Isaac Clarke such a kino protag?
>>729864670he's a good grandson who goes to rescue his grandma like a responsible adult
>>729864670He's the last white man in existence struggling against the end of all things
>>729864670he is literally me if I was a space engineer
>>729864670He's the only sane man in an insane universe.
He's stoic and shuts the fuck upsilent protags WON
he's a literal schizo
>>729864670Schizophrenia is kino.
>>729864670>Isaac Asimov>Arthur C ClarkeBravo visceral

>>729864670He’s never in control of the situation; he’s a worker trying to survive.
>>729864670It's just aliens, but remove the e machine parts and replace with mutations, voila, that's dead space. Dead series BTW.
He's a blue collar wagie thrown into a situation he wasn't trained to be in and still came out on top. That's what makes Isaac such a good protagonist.
>>729866180me looking for asian pussy
>>729864670>faceless everyman who is not some high ranking special forces officer, he's a technician in a very over-his-pay-grade problem.
>>729866426Sadly by 3 the everyman part stops being true when he's probably the most proficient at dealing with necromorphs in all of humanity having survived multiple outbreaks. There was a lot of problems with 3, I try not to think about it. EA killed a lot of their games when they got to the 3rd entry during those days.
>>729864670FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MARKER
>>729864670Strong silent blue collar worker. Literally me
I wish the remake was good
>>729864670he fights for eqaulity and racial justice.
>>729867245It is.
>>729867364Then why does it have gender neutral toilets?
>>729867364It's not, and will be the reason a Dead Space 2 remake won't happen either. Thank god for small mercies.
>>729866083Only when used properly.A mostly sane but has schizophrenic episode having, unreliable narrator is pure unadulterated kino.
>>729864670He's full of bad ideas.
>>729866824He has a face. You see it in the opening scene and then again at the end scene. In the remake he takes his helmet off several times to converse with people.
>>7298669913? We never had a Dead Space 3, Anon.
>>729867597Can confirm.t. Person who stuck around
>>729864670silent protag+ heavy breathing
>>729867719He's clearly suffering from dementia and hallucinations caused by a marker.Increase his medication and put him back in stasis.
>>729864670Dead Space 1-2-Severed and Extraction is all we need anyway. If they can give us a book on how it all would have ended like HL3 then ill be okat with that.
>>729867767Don't forget:>AUGH!>OUGH!>NOOOOO!
>>729867767
>>729867401To specifically make you impotently seethe.
>>729867904Not so impotently. The demake was a financial disappointment for EA so they're not going to seek to do anymore Dead Space for a while. They brought a series they killed back from the dead just to kill it again.
>>729867843Realistically, the Brethren Moons eat all of humanity.Ellie was supposed to be the playable character in 4 but what she could possibly do?The Black Marker is still missing. So in theory she could have found it and used it to find the origin of the Necromorph signal and destroyed it thus saving the universe.
>>729867987EA makes most of their money from sports titles and DLC buying paypigs. They need to sell off their horror IPs to someone whomst will make better use of them.
>>729864670The helmet and mining gun thingy. Also, his name is pretty damn good and realistically relatable, unlike the usual suspects of forced "cool" protagonists with outlandish/alien names.
>>729867987>The demake was a financial disappointment for EABecause they overbudgeted the game and overestimated how popular the series actually is, especially after the disaster that was DS3. Remake is a really good game, but horror will always be a niche genre because the majority of gamers are pussy ass bitches.
>>729866180legs go first
>>729868203>dead space is scarywut
>>729868203It will always be a poor mans attempt at the original from a team that had far too much money and disrespect to actually focus on the parts of the game that were good. It's functionally a totally different game from the original Visceral made not just graphically but mechanically as well that calling it a remaster is a lie. It's not even good as a horror game as the pussy ass bitch Canadians can't be bothered to show anything too horrific, and even put in a filter to censor scenes they thought would be "too graphic" for the audience. Totally failing to understand what horror is in the process. It's a creatively bankrupt cash grab and deserves to be trashed as such.
>>729868385>but mechanically as wellhow so? i havnt played it so im genuinely curious about what they changed mechanically >ilter to censor scenes they thought would be "too graphic" for the audience. Totally failing to understand what horror is in the processprobably an unpopular opinion but ive never been a fan of over the top gore and i dont really think it makes the game scarier in any way
>>729868336the sound design alone makes it scarier than 90% of horror games out there
>>729868336Anon, we have a whole generation who thinks Super Mario 64 is scary. But disregarding that, Dead Space has a stellar level and sound design.

>>729864670Just a simple engineer and a nobody. Roped into cosmic horror whether he likes it or not.Nothing is special or particularly compelling about him. He is just a regular guy getting shit taken from him game after game by an unforgivably evil alien menace he can piss off by merely surviving against.
>>729866180FUCK YOU
>>729868582The game technically still has the dismemberment system that Dead Space as a series as a whole is known for, but they took the 3rd games version of it and iterated on that one. So you don't actually need to remove limbs so much as "peel" the zombies (because DSR necros are the most zombie in space version yet) to kill them instead. By peel I really do mean peel, you remove the skin/clothing first, then the muscle tissue, before getting to bone and now the limb is weak enough to be removed but by that point the enemy will be weak enough that removing the limbs is more a curtesy than a hard requirement. Likewise the attempt to make the Ishimura an "open world" style map where you can traverse anywhere on the ship at any time means they unintentionally retard the tram system. As before you can make your way to a new deck on the ship, you have to walk there first....begging the question of why did we reactivate a tram to get to new decks faster when walking on foot gets you there in roughly the same time? This also has the knock on effect that you will be doing a lot of backtracking to older decks to unlock previously locked containers and doors because it introduces a security level system to further justify this constant back and forth walking. At first this doesn't seem like it'd be a problem, until you slam face first into the AI director that dictates when you get attacked by respawning necromorphs and what (or if) they drop for supplies. If you're doing marginally better than a mouth breathing moron (game journo tier) the game will respond by actively starving you of resources. As in, if you do too well it deliberately starts refusing to drop ammo, health, and cash until your reserves as determined by your total reserves (carried and bank) are so low that it then must start dropping materials again. Add on that this version of the game takes changes made to the game from both 2 and 3 but back ports it to 1 and it fundamentally changes the game.
>>729865005shes his same age you mong
>>729869384hmmm that dismemberment thing in particular indeed sounds kind of annoying
>>729867904The OG I got for free is perfectly playable. (You) seethe.
>>729868582I got so long it reached the character limit, surprising but I got a lot to say about the remake. Which as you can guess is a lot. A lot of people praise the weapons being rebalanced, but that's to be in line with the peeling system more than a rebalance of the original or even 2's combat systems. Practically all the weapons lost their hit stun, which was actually super important for crowd control and precise aiming for limb removal. This is more akin to 3, so actual precision isn't totally necessary, so having weapons that hit with enough force to physically stop all but the largest of necromorphs isn't required anymore. They murdered my boy pulse rifle and plasma cutter because of this, as both were practically S tier weapons throughout the whole series for being insanely reliable, here they're not much better than the other weapons and even lag behind in a quite a few ways in terms of ammo economy or peeling potential. Weapons can be described as either good at cutting or good at stripping and rarely both because that would break this new system pretty hard so you have to have weapons you swap to just to do both while having at least one that can do something to keep your space safe from the undead. It's a lot for 4 weapon slots to juggle all at once. This is just the gameplay side of things, I could talk more about questionable decisions with the story that were changed or even how some of the graphical changes undermine certain scenes or outright alter them in stupid ways but I don't want to keep typing this shit. It's getting really long.
>>729869384>If you're doing marginally better than a mouth breathing moron (game journo tier) the game will respond by actively starving you of resources. As in, if you do too well it deliberately starts refusing to drop ammo, health, and cash until your reserves as determined by your total reserves (carried and bank) are so low that it then must start dropping materials againI played on the second hardest difficulty for my very first playthrough and I never had this issue, every single enemy dropped something when killed to the point I was able to obtain so many nodes to upgrade all of my weapons and my armor before leaving the Ishimura, and I could just sell the excess and still have a lot of ammo to move around without worrying about running out. Granted, I also never bought any heals because I wanted money for nodes, but even so, ammo scarcity was never an issue outside of the very first two chapters when you're just getting your first unupgraded weapons. Backtracking is also not even that bad, you will only get "surprised" by a stray necromorph or two appearing in front of you, so you can just dispatch it and continue your merry way.
HELLO JEW
>>729868024I would've been fine with Issac splitting them in half with some plasma cutter mining shit but I never played 3 so I don't know if his ship has that
>>729864670an engineer
>>729869745I also played it on hard because I knew the series well enough to do the previous zealot challenge run, and ran into the opposite problem where the game would have long periods where it just stopped dropping supplies entirely. It got down right passive aggressive at times where even the smashable crates would only afford 100 credit drops or nothing at all. So all the tricks I had to do on previous games hardest difficulty I had to do as a matter of fact because it's as though the director didn't know how to react to me doing too well. I don't like systems like this, the Homeworld difficulty where if you do too well it then punishes you, but if you are so shit it turns into babbies first third person shooter to compensate. That middle ground never really came up at all while I was playing it and just further built up the aggravation as time marched on.

Stamping on a cosmic horror while calling it a motherfucker.
man, remake sucks so much for a million small things. normally I don't care about shit like this but the cumulative factor annoys me to no end>myriad of bugs (I've had 3-4 separate small issues following a full blown softlock in my first hour of playing)>guns have way less oomph/impact to them compared to DS1/2, enemies lose flesh which is cool but otherwise barely react to your shots at all, when even unupgraded plasma cutter in DS1/2 felt like a dangerous tool>camera is weirdly off-placed, way higher and further from Isaac than it used to be, and sometimes moves by itself for no reason>guns sound way less impactful>animations suck ass, Isaac stomps like a little bitch>graphics are cool, but there is too much useless detail added in, there is no clever play with lights in many locations; in original DS1 there were many intentionally pitch black voids in certain rooms>enemies walk slowly instead of full on sprinting towards you, you can literally walk away from many enemy types and they won't catch you>other small shit like plasma cutter changing firing angle taking forever for no reason, shitty voice acting, UI delay on everything, etcI appreciate other improvements like open world ish redesign, picking up guns instead of purchasing them, DS2 free flight mechanics, etc. I wish I could like the remake, but I'm just mad after 15 min of playing this shit every time. DS2 feels like a dream to play
>>729864670>what makes Isaac Clarke such a kino protag?scrappy, angry, terrified but keeps going anyway, great voice acting.
