From Soft wanted it to be a new IP so they could have more control over it as it was developed.Thus they still can't do that. Especially now that Activision got consumed by Microsoft. So it has less chance of a sequel than Sony's efforts with Bloodborne.From Soft is forever being screwed over by it's publishing partners. Scamco Bandai had rode them since 2011 until they could finally win the rights off them for Elden Ring.
