>Act 3 is full of the best type of boss fights - duels against similar-sized opponents
>Final boss is a duel
>Lace 2 was a great, well-designed fight that was fast-paced but not obnoxious
>Lost Lace phase 1 is a fun twist on the fight with void versions of her attacks
>Duel is interrupted so dramatic sawblade masses can charge across the screen
>Later phases add void projectiles that are completely separate from Lace's moveset
>Do nothing but clutter the screen and lower visibility
>Basically adds in a duel
>No coordination or specially-crafted combos between Lace and the void, they both just happen simultaneously whenever they want
>Spears might launch while Lace is using her jump attack, or geyser tendrils during her dash
>No rhyme or reason, no patterns to learn, no clear tells, just dodge the random bullshit
Lost Lace was a horrible disappointment that concluded Silksong on a surprisingly low note. I'm not convinced that this boss is well-designed at all.

Lace in general is a disappointment.

As for how I'd fix it:

The attacks should happen in sync. Each of her base attacks would have a corresonding void attack paired with them, almost like the void is a second character that joins the fight. For example, if you activate her parry, the geyser tentacles spring up and obstruct her blind spot, which forces you to change your approach. You couln't just jump behind her anymore, maybe you'd have to pogo on her head. It'd force you to use more difficult positioning.

Maybe the grounded sawblades would pop up when she does her jump attack and cover positions where you'd want to stand, like right at the end of her slide after hitting the ground and under her jump arc. Stuff that snaps the player out of autopilot and corces them to relearn their approach to the fight, or ups the ante with positioning. Idk whether this sounds good, but it's at least better than the kind of "dodge the RNG patterns" stuff that ruined GMS, right?
