I played up to a few levels and didn’t understand what the hype was for. The movement and level design still leaves so much to be desired. I hate how modern Sonic feels like a clunky hybrid racing and rhythm game instead of a fast 3d platformer with good physics. It’s been decades and SEGA still fucks up how to make a 3D Sonic actually feel comfortable to play.

>>729876017Yeah, while the levels are quite polished, they're still Forces-esque hallways, at the end of the day. I enjoyed the open world sloppa hub more than the actual stages, honestly. The movement still isn't great, but it feels better when you aren't trying to navigate narrow pathways and aren't constantly getting railroaded into scripted events. Forces wasn't great for me, though, because the map itself was boring as fuck to explore and the rail spam was ridiculous. Shadow's hub was filled with platforming challenges that felt far more engaging. The other movement options helped, granted. I'm not too crazy about the wisp type gimmickry. It feels a little lazy, like they couldn't come up with more natural "Shadow" type moves to give the player beyond Chaos Control and spear. It's a fine game, overall, but it's way, way overrated.
