This is the endgame and you will all eventually use it. $5000 GPUs is what they will use to push everyone towards streaming in the coming years.
>>
I'll just stick to classics. I don't even play modern AAA slop as it is.
>>
I say based, fuck system requriements
>>
sure jeet, any day now
>>
>>729885501
a 5000 euro or dollar top end consumer GPU is something you every generation or second generation
Which means 2-5 years
That's 2500 a year at most
That's 48 euro or dollars a week

If you cannot afford the price of a cheap dinner once per week at a lower class restaurant, then top end GPUs are not for you, poor.
>>
>>729885501
what games will I play on it that I can't play now on my 1080?
>>
>>729885501
No it's not, I don't know why everybody keeps parroting this bullshit.
The average person doesn't have good enough internet, the average person doesn't live anywhere near their servers current and planned locations, business wise they'd be better off renting their GPUs to AI companies and most importantly, you're a retard if you think the average person is going to subject themselves to subpar gameplay and graphics after spending years on current gen. Let's not forget that they have to throttle at their current "peak hours" despite being an expensive niche service, they lack the scale, every business lacks the scale.

It's not like everybody is selling their hardware and PCs capable of running current gen games are going to disappear either.

The only thing that's going to happen is that graphics will "stagnate" at realistic ray traced and both game and game engine developers will have to optimise hard.

There's no goddamn way we have the infrastructure to handle literally everyone being forced to stream games. At best this will somehow just result in the actual death of gaming, reverting back into a niche market only now it's more of an underground activity since most people will be forced to play on older existing systems.

>implying you'll be allo-
I actually kind of hate this claim. No, they won't ban personal computing devices. That is doomer bait. They won't have to anyway if the industry just outright collapses. Better it's done that way because a straight ban might actually pass the normies off and that's like the one boundary they always respect. The psy ops don't work otherwise.

Nigger a mid range card costs a few hundred bucks at the very mot. You can get a 5070 for like 400€.
Theres basically no way the price of a streaming service can beat building your own PC with all the overhead it carries plus the shareholder tip and guaranteed enshittification.

The only people who givea rats ass abotu muh high end cards are a minority of hyperspergs who goon to the Benchmarks they run on their PCs.
Even if those cards were half the price they are a waste of money unless you spend all you have on your PC build due to being a friendless loser.

> There's no goddamn way we have the infrastructure to handle literally everyone being forced to stream
Why do yo think they are spending trillions of dollars in datacenters for a technology that is best employed in local, project oriented solutions?
> No, they won't ban personal computing devices
They don’t need to ban anything. They will just make the alternative unaffordable.
>>
Why would I worry about fearmongering like this when even the shitty pc sitting in my closet can emulate anything I'd want to play just fine?
>>
>>729890246
They will scam nintendo and sony this way too, resulting in consoles costing 800$+, at which point pc would still be more attractive of an option
As for the usual poor families that rely on cheaper consoles, they get fucking nothing instead, little timmy just wont have a console now, and since a very large part of console sales are those families...
>>
>>729890114
It’s about control. At a certain point, that becomes more important than liquid money. Do you really think it makes a difference if Nvidia is worth 5 or 10 trillion dollars? No, they need to find a way to convert that cash into hard power.

The issue comes not from having to upgrade, it comes from your gpu dying and the only replacement options being these overly expensive cards, or, if it all goes to shit, straight up fucking nothing.

>>729890398

Semiconductors aren't black magic. If there's trillions of shekels to make, investors will eventually allocate the capital to flood the market with GPUs/RAM/you're mom's dildos until a new equilibrium is reached. It will suck for a bit to be a hobbyist consumer but that's life.

>>
The real question is, does this also affect the prices at which these datacenters are buying them?
Are they just cranking the price now that they are in, so to speak, trying to scam this whole bubble for all theyre worth before it all collapses in on itself?
>>
This is how the world now works. The huge movement of wealth from most of the world's population this century to a very small number of people has meant the average person can't own a house, more cars are being leased and, in a few short years, "AAA" PC gaming will become rented time online.
It will of course kill a lot of companies and jobs.

It's a problem for them, Sony are talking about delaying PS6 for 2 years to wait it out, but Sony and Nintendo have much more ability to get around it because of their scale and can afford to trade on thin margin to just get you to buy in. The problem for PC is there is no making your money back on accessories or game sales so you have to pay full price for everything to get in. I think we have hit the limit on graphics and it will swing back to platform exclusivity over the next 4 years. PC growth is going to be restricted to developing countries on lower end hardware

I think graphics have peaked nicely and it’s time to start developing skills with the tools available. There was this huge push for more that never seemed to stop around 2015. I think the tools are finally in a really good spot for developers to get comfortable with the systems available and how to improve performance and allocate resources. I don’t think PC gaming will go to the wayside at all, if anything PC will benefit the most out of the expertise people will have because their hardware can grant them a better experience.
>>
>>729891850
They wont be affected as much, but they will still get scammed, and in turn, raise the price of their consoles to match, which considering how expensive they already are now, might be too much for the average family
And therein lies the problem, this makes consoles less accessible, which was the one true advantage they had over pc gaming, if the PS6 gets released in 2 years at 800$ or something to that effect, which it very likely will because of these fucking prices, it will be DOA, even not counting the fact itll very likely have the same no games problem the PS5 had
People arent gonna spend 900$ for a gta6 machine
>>
>>729886194
The big problem with game streaming is that if you have a bad connection to the servers, there's fuck all either you or the platform provider like Nvidia for Geforce Now could possibly do about it. This heavily limits an already small potential target audience, and unlike other possible problems such as hardware pricing or game availability there is literally no solution to this one.
>>
>>729885501

Nobody is streaming games no matter how hard billionaire retards try to force it. Just like AI it is a pipedream.
>>
>>729896786
Irrelevant to my point about ASML. China does not possess the lithography technology required to compete in the same space. If Taiwan got nuked it wouldn't be China filling the gap, it would be Intel and Samsung.

You don't know what you are talking about, sinofaggot.
>>
>>729885950
Pretty much this. And if my GPU dies, games aren't made for me anyways.
>>
>>729897036
absolutely anon
that's why everyone unsubscribed from netflix when they raised the prices repeatedly, then introduced ads, then lowered the streaming bitrate etc etc. you're absolutely correct.
>>
You know, outside of this shithole there's literally no shilling of GeForce now nor any cloud gaming shit like Gamepass streaming.
>>
Gen 9 is death of gaming as we know it.
>>
>>729887667
>that $5000 was $2000 a week ago.
Enjoy getting scalped, not like you shower anyways.

yes piracy is making a comeback haven't you noticed when more and more streaming services started popping up?
>>
>>729897319
i have. that doesn't invalidate what i said. netflix is still raking in money.
>>
>>729897272
not really. you couldn't afford top-tier hardware before gen 9 and you still wont be able to after.
stay poor, brown faggot.
>>
>>729889604
Do you have a console, PC, or phone at all to play games, or are you posting with astral projection?
You bought something you don't need. You wasted money like a retard, by your own standards.
>>
>>729897760
I bought 1080TI on launch day you have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>729886194

All of your respondents being proudly wrong. /v/ doesn't realize this has already been attempted. It is a valid concern for other tasks, because that's already happening. I think we could see partial streaming, but it's kind of hard seeing the RnD paying off unless it's part of a larger package. I think a more disturbing thought are household compute, where you invest big bucks buying something completely locked down that essentially just virtualisation. People will gobble that up, because guys with more money then sense will justify the purchase. Nvidia will effortlessly snake away from the bad rent-seeking PR that way and normies will gobble that shit up.
>>
I can easily afford a $6000 PC but why would I spend that? Games just aren't that good. Especially not the ones that require high specs.
>>
>>729885501
Actually the endgame is destroying all forms of entertainment and enslaving everyone forever. You will do three things: work, suffer, and then die. You will die slowly and painfully, because your masters enjoy your agony. They hate you for existing in their world.
>>
>>729897784
>you bought something you don't need!
>that means you should buy more things you don't need!
>otherwise you're poor!
okay
>>
Should I upgrade to a 5080 or is a 5070 better value?
>>
>>729898153
5070ti def
>>
>>729897883
Exactly this. Everyone’s barking up the “streaming bad” tree like it’s 2013 OnLive again, but the industry has learned – they’re not going for full-on Stadia-tier moonshots anymore. The real play is locking down local hardware under the guise of “smart devices” doing cloud-assisted compute. Your new “gaming box” won’t be a PC or console, it’ll be a thin client with shiny RGB that pretends to be powerful while quietly pinging Nvidia’s server farm for half the workload.

No one’s going to notice until it’s too late, because they’re distracted by the illusion of ownership while everything meaningful gets piped in and monitored. It’s not about streaming from a menu, it’s about subtly making you rent every frame you see until it’s just normal.
>>
>>729898153
5070ti is probably the sweet spot for price/performance if you can find one near msrp (you cant)
5080 is only worth the money if you want to play at 4k

I tried a game on it, it ran at 20 fps in the menu on the lowest settings. What kinda shit is that
>>
No thanks. A competitor will emerge.
>>
>>729890114
But they can increase the price every year and get the precious magical growth that shareholders want
NOTHING matters except growth
>>
>>729898351
I like to play on my TV so it's 4k but only 60fps
>>
>>729898530
Best setup imo
The Switch 2 has shown me how little 120FPS matters
>>
>>729898614
Yeah I'll take OLED blacks and HDR over 120fps
>>
I'm still rocking the r5 3600 and a 6700 card. It plays everything at 60fps 1440p

Why upgrade?
>>
>>729886194
I'm a poorfag and xbox streaming runs like butter for me. If you can't afford decent internet you don't belong in gaming
>>
gave in last night and moved from my 1060 to 5070ti - i'm sorry guys
>>
>>729898351
I found a ZOTAC one for 1k USD
>>
>>729898810
>Why upgrade?
Same. Well. I've got an i7 9700k and a 4070 12gb and i haven't had an issue with running a modern game yet
>>
>>729898326

and yet we can't even talk about this shit because you get called as a moral fag or some non-sequitor defeatist argument. I pine for the time when playing games more or less meant you weren't a normie. Today they are the some of the worst slopGobblers of our time. /v/ will proudly announce switching from Nvidia GPUs due to end of support, and then buy another Nvidia GPUs. It's like a bad joke.
>>
>>729899448
moral fag non-sequitor defeatist
>>
i mean no one plays games on /v/ anyways so its zero sum
>>
>>729898082
Middle class and above people buy things they want and don't need, because angrily rageposting from a favela isn't enjoyable.
>>
If I can get a 5090 for $2400 USD is that a good deal or am I still getting ripped off?
Thinking I should buy before it gets even more crazy
>>
>>729899935
Ah fuck I'll need a new PSU and case to fit it
Fuck it, I'll stick with the 3080 for now
Fuck FOMO

Its literally impossible to stream games.
>>
>>729885501
I hate all you fuckers. geforce now was supposed to be a secret club and I was hoping the “le streaming bad” narrative would prevail but fuck you, on top of them throttling the service because of the influx of people using it, just fuck you. fuck you fuck you fuck you if you ruin my comfy elite dangerous sessions on my g cloud if I get hit with an “ooopsy we ran out of servers even though you paid for ultimate” message just kys
>>
>>729900286
>ooopsy we ran out of servers even though you paid for ultimate
How does it choose who gets priority? Is it by session time?
>>
>>729885501
I will rather burn alive like those kids in Switzerland before I would ever considering let alone pay for it
I will never pay for streaming and if my pc breaks and I can't replace it
I will drop gaming entirely
>>
>>729900363
it’s first come first serve. obviously priority is given to those who pay. and ultimate gets the best response time
>>
>>729885501

this is not the future I was promised mr Jensen

realistically speaking we can't send data faster than speed of light and that alone makes streaming this kind of stuff a mess there's always latency and other issues add as a plus all the disgusting inet worldwide infrastructure which is dogshit, so basically its impossible for what they want to do (force everyone into this service), what's their endgame then? just kill the industry? wont happen they are literally leaving the chair for someone else, probably the chinese will try their best to keep this afloat, even if you hate china stuff because boomer dad brainwashing i would take a shit 150 dollar gpu that might last two years over $5000+ or streaming gaming "services"
>>
>>729900286
Why not use shadow?
>>
>>729886194
>The average person doesn't have good enough internet

worldwide internet is being moved from cable to satellite based internet like starlink which most of the third world is using it anyways since their ISPs are dog water so slow internet isnt a issue much anymore
>>
>>729898434
The technology is too advanced
>>
>>729899125
theres PNY ones for $750 pretty regularly
>>
This shit is like housing.
We are moving into a permanent bubble because its profitable. If you have something that works well now, stick with it. If you were thinking of buying, do it, because nothing EVER gets cheaper
>>
>maybe I should upgrade
>wait I'd need a new mobo
>and a new psu
that's not an upgrade, that is a new pc
>>
>>729885501
>ps5 wireless controller already has 90 years of input latency
>PSSR and upscaling introduces even more latency
>shit isn't even running at 30 fps natively
>being upscaled from 720p, and lower
>now add streaming into the mix
>ass bitrate to add even more pixels to the upscaling
>BARE MINIMUM half a second of input lag
>on american internet, the absolute worst in a first world nation
dawg, this scheme is professionally retarded.
>>
>>729885501
nah americans are bitches of their isp monopolies it wont fly
>>
if gaming begins requiring a subscription i will stop gaming and focus more on my other hobbies. ten thousand years of misery unto the tech industry
