None of the gimmicks helped, and in fact- they only detracted in 99% of cases. 3DS should have been an HDS, or even better - should have just been built like the Vita.

I guarantee more people would've been interested in the Vita if it had a MIPS Emotion Engine-like CPU so it could more or less be used as a portable PS2. I'd trade the rear touchpad for PS2 compatibility any day. Also, the 3DS's 3D effect was cool for maybe 10 minutes, while spending the rest of its usage in 2D to save on its pitiful battery life. It also handicapped games by having to render them twice. I'd trade that for a minimum 480p top screen.
