30+ thread. What are you playing? Anything you are looking forward to next year? Have you come to terms with the tragic life you've lived so far?

I am looking forward to Crimson Desert and the james bond game even though it looks sloppy
>>
Most people in these threads are not actually above 30.

playin minecraft with my son. never played minecraft before. we don't look up mechanics and such on the internet, rather from minecraft comics and what his friends tell him. From his comics we made an automated sugarcane farm and tried a lava chicken machine, but maybe the comic was from a previous patch, it got updated and wouldn't work properly

>>

Playing through the entire Trine series with my wife. Great co-op games. Highly recommended if you have someone to play with locally. Looking forward to Resident Evil Requiem, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Order of the Sinking Star. Life's good. Reached a point where money's not a big worry anymore and can focus on my hobbies.
>>
I mostly play Resident Evil games and other horror slop.
>>
>>729891460
30+ is the start of my VN era. Finally played through Katawa Shoujo and loved it and now I'm going through Stein's Gate and Ace Attorney.
Other than that though my gaming has slowed down. I really only consistently play Binding of Isaac and Mario World romhacks (anything by Bandicoot is pretty good)
>>
>>729891460
I just finished Tainted Grail. Had a good time with it, but I think I ended up with an OP build and the end boss was sliced meat in seconds, and ruined my fun by accident. I am doing good, all things considered. Most of my friends are dead, but I somehow am in good health. I always thought I would be the first to die.

Currently playing Chasm, and probably looking to some new indie titles that look promising.

1. I am playing Resident Evil 4 HD Project and GRID 2019.
2. Resident Evil 9, Lara Croft and Forza Horizon Japan, I am sure it will be very gay, and very annoying though.
3. I am living the hardest time but also the most fulfilling. I am 41 and I used to be a mega neet/hobbyist using my senpai's money. Now I live on my own with a proper job, my own money and place, however a very poor life as a house hermit without a car even.
>>
Do you guys get bored with game way faster than when you were younger? I feel like I don't even want stories in games anymore.
>>
>>729891460
Where Winds Meet lately. Also some Dota 2. I played through Detroit Become Human too, and I consider replaying it, but I got other stuff to play first. I played through a chunk of Beyond Two Souls (up to the start of the desert), but playing it right after playing Detroit feels like a significant downgrade.
>>
>>729893069
Opposite effect for me, I find myself caring about a good story way more now.
You should play shumps if you wanna cut straight to gameplay

I still have ninja gaiden ragebound and double dragon revive in my backlog right now. My son been keeping mr from doing much gaming. Now I watch him play games. I finished a cheap game anomaly agent I picked up for 3 bucks which wasn't bad. As for stuff im looking forward to, I dont really anticipate much and am always a year behind. I guess the new golden axe game and maybe jet set radio but not sure when that's coming.
>>
>>729893069
Not quite. As a kid, I sucked at games and rarely finished them, but I still replayed those early parts a lot. Later I started to complete games in most cases (exceptions are when I don't like them, or some end game challenges like not going all the way through Depths in Nioh, and not going for 100% achievements), but replay them less. I think it evens out overall.
>>
>>729893069
I dont mind stories but i have zero tolerance for slop writing these days.
>>
>>729893069
Since I have way more options now, I'll drop games much more easily. Ever since I got seriously into reading, I stopped caring about videogame stories entirely. It's just not the medium for it. The vast majority of game stories are complete and utter trash, even in genres where it's usually a major focus.
>>
>>729891460
Just finished Metroid prime 4, fallout 3 main story (I’ll do the dlc later, I’m tapped out), cooping space marine 2, got expedition 33 queued up but my 40k itch isn’t dead so I might delay that to play some more 40k games like mechanicus. Have a huge 40k boner this year.
>>

I'm 19 but find I fit in more with people who are over 30. Never enjoyed games that everyone else my age plays, like Fortnite.

Game stories suffer massively from the influence of Hollywood slop and anime. Just pick any random cheap fantasy pulp novella from the early 20th century and it's probably better written than most fantasy games.

Life is suffering. The sooner you accept this the sooner you will be free.

it's pretty arrogant to think that you needed to 'matter'. 99.9% of all humans lived and died while doing and accomplishing nothing of note other than having a kid.
Getting old is realizing you're just like everyone else more or less and you playing video games is going to have as much effect on the world after you as Makmud Al'Salbingbong who lived 2000 years ago and died working himself to the bone reaping wheat for his lord

I've got OG Doom sitting there. Just played it for the first time recently and I'm keeping it around until I find some good mods.

Gonna be 37 this year. Holy fuck.

>What are you playing?
Going through FFXVI for the first time. It's alright. I get why people didn't care for it. But honestly, after always getting sidetracked in open-world games or playing the colony/citybuilders and farm sims...Playing something so linear is kind of a nice.

>Anything you are looking forward to next year?
Pathologic 3 comes out next Friday apparently. Gonna need to find sometime to play through it and finish FFXVI while also going through the final Savage tier in FFXIV - which also comes out next week.

>Have you come to terms with the tragic life you've lived so far?
I've accepted and overcome many things. I'm just taking each day as they come although my dream of having a nice, little house in the mountains somewhere feels less achievable every day.

Here’s my six most recent titles. MegaBonk is more active and demanding than it first seems, grinded out 97/118 cheevos in roughly a week or so after nearly thirty hours. It was fun. Stressful, but fun.

Tiny Rogues is probably the best top down action roguelite I’ve ever played. It’s basically an arcade game, zippy and chaotic, achievements are 86/86 after ninety-five hours.

Sephiria is another title that’s early access, was recommended to me. I have major reservations about how progression is unlocked and a lot of builds just feel too weak for how demanding the game becomes later on, and that goes double for the hard mode modifiers. But I can see the vision, with a few balance tweaks to make the weapons a little stronger this could be a real nice game.

Next on the list, Rolling Star. 2D adventure game in a space colony with super fast spray and pray action. Normal mode was on the easy side. Hard mode was demanding. Endless Mode was a fucking nuthouse. I didn’t appreciate the crafting, which is tedious, but that equipment is a must have if you want to stay alive during the hardest boss fights. A normal play through will probably take you three to four hours.

Then there’s Vividlope. How the fuck does this game have less than 400 Steam reviews after two and a half years? It’s an amazing 3D puzzle platformer with an early 00s vibe, art direction and soundtrack are rock solid, and getting a perfect in each stage starts to push you as early as Level 2. There’s like over 100 stages, too. It’s so fun.

Finally, Garbanzo Quest. A simple platformer shooter that I’m three hours into. Combat feels a little anemic and I wish the game played 25% faster overall, but it’s a fun play through so far.
