No other feeling in a game comes close to me just relaxing as a tauren in thunder bluff...
There's no way that place smells good
>>729893262With all the open space and mountain air, thunderbluff is ironically probably the only city/town in the game that DOESN'T smell like cow shit.
>>729893192>Okay, for game balance purposes, each faction should have three cities and one double-up>The Alliance already has Ironforge and Stormwind established, and the Night Elves are their only base on Kalimdor, so it’ll have to be the gnomes>Now the Horde has a base on both continents, so either we give a city to the city-building trolls or the nomadic Tauren>Moo
One of the best times I had was back on my first server, Undermine, an rp server. I've always mained a forsaken warlock, and back then I had my own guild, a cabal of cloth casters. We had a decent reputation back then, and one day, the server's pvp guild approached me and my inner circle in the magic quarter of the Under city, requesting our aid in raiding Alliance cities. We had a grand roleplay event where we both forged an alliance of our own, pooling resources and swearing oaths before we went and absolutely annihilated those fuckers. Two of the oaths were to swear a priest to every party and a tank/peeler to every "talon" of the cabal. Spent the better part of a day roleplaying and then the entire next day wrecking face.Great times, I miss those guys.
>can use the auction house and mailbox without dismounting, and they're like 10 feet away from each otherBest town.
>>729893192>2004>graphically looks nicer than mmorpgs made 15 years later
>>729894620because, as always, art style > graphical fidelity
>>729893192Best town. Middle of the continent and has flight path to everywhere.>>729894416Also this. Its very convinient for crafting, in Orgimmar you have to run all way back every time you buy things from AH since Anvil is nowhere to be seen.
>>729894416In the UC, you can also use the bank without dismounting, and everything is still just as close
>>729894739Yeah but you have to run up and down between all the staircases and the place is just laid out like a fucking mazeTB is much more compact
>>729894689>only one anvil in the entire fucking city>it's on the opposite fucking side from where everything else isOrcs are fucking retarded
>>729893192Needs more LGBT flags
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSjf5ChDDqQThis godawful BGM almost singlehandedly got me to switch to alliance during Cata, god I hate Orgrimmar
>>729894792But it's the least maze-like city that's ever existed in the game. I'll argue it's even more compact and easy to navigate than TB, given how everything has its place in one of the quarters that makes perfect sense as to why it'd be there. Don't need directions from guards and you have the shortest paths to any given location compared to every other city.As for running up and down the stairs, I forget if it was TBC or WotLK that they put mailboxes right next to the auctioneers, but it was definitely after vanilla. Made an already great city perfect for autistic efficiency.I'm also very biased because I love the ooky spooky aesthetics.
>>729895119>But it's the least maze-like city that's ever existed in the game.TB and Ironforge.
>>729895237I love ironforge so fucking muchIt's a shame the world buffs drop in sw
>We dont need Kelethin, we have kelethin at home>Kelethin at home:
>>729895237Ironforge is too big and dismounts you a lot.TB, aside from the auctioneers, mailboxes and bank, has everything way too spread out and in weird places and you also have to dismount a lot.Meanwhile, you have this. You never dismount, everything is close by, and everything makes sense.
>>729895536In my experience people get lost in the undercity the mostI wouldn't describe the layout as "everything makes sense". It's literally the only town in the game where the map doesn't tell you where you are because of all the unmarked tunnels and z axis overlapping.
>>729895790I guess the map could be drawn better, yeah, but the only meaningful verticality you need to be mindful of is just the inner ring where the innkeeper and flight master are. Everything is is flat.I dunno, I've never had an issue with it, but now that you mention it, I think I remember some old friends saying the same thing about getting lost.
>>729894739>mounts and auction houses in undercitynot my vanilla
>>729896412The fuck are you talking about?
Thunderbluff was so based I used to go there just to hang out as a blood elf.
>>729893192>start fishing in the line pond>four other random people join youSoul...
>>729896494He's talking about how in earlier patches of Vanilla, you couldn't use mounts in Undercity. People complained about it relentlessly until they gave you the option.
>>729896116There's also the sloped tunnels near varimathras. I specifically remember myself and my friend getting confused by that shit in our alts because we were on top of each other on the map but different rooms
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrMa1zKN5HE
>>729896516I played on Chromiecraft and quit recently due to the people there being the worst kind of mix between stupidity and far left woke. Everyone there would get mad if you tried fishing next to them. It's considered rude because then it's apparently difficult to click on the correct lure.I can't bring myself to hate them, but I do strongly dislike them. The worst thing is how they'll lie and put on this facade of "cozy" and being a "super friendly and welcoming community" to lure in newcomers. After you've been there for more than a week, it all falls apart.Anyway, tangent aside, I fondly remember chatting with others while fishing back on retail servers in the day. Those were always great, sometimes I'd even find a higher level player who'd give me stuff or run me through a dungeon, getting me my quests done and passing on all the loot.I've always liked to pay it forward and actually be cool to people like that.I guess what I'm trying to say is don't play WoW in the modern day, not on retail or private servers. Maybe only with friends you already know, but that's the only exception. The game may remain the same, but people have changed, and that's what makes the game bad now.
>>729895536UC isn't bad when you're used to it but I still need guards to tell me where the profession trainers are. I also still can't remember how the quarters are laid out apart from the apothecary quarter being in the bottom left where the throne room is.
>>729896608Ah, I see, I never heard about that. I wasn't a core vanilla player, I'd only drop in here and there. I was still far too wrapped up in Warcraft 3.I thought he may have been talking about the alpha or beta tests, I forget which one I played. Whichever it was was the one where the forsaken counted as undead, which was super awesome.
>>729896981Wut? I play on Chromiecraft all the time and literally never encountered someone whining about having to fish near me. I'd understand it if it were vanilla where you hear other people's bobbers and see them move so it is actually confusing, but it's not like that on WotLK.I do agree with the community being pretty stupid there though. It's a surprisingly active PVE scene considering how small the population is there but if you can't see through all the toxic positivity in world chat and just end up getting caught off guard by the jackasses that actually play there, yeah you can get burnt pretty bad.
>>729897731I encountered the fish nazis through fishing dailies, usually the in-city ones at Dalaran, but the main source of it is the fountain. I've gotten chewed out in world chat a couple times for daring to fish there at the same time as someone else. The server has far too many divas.
>shaman 25go to tbc without me bros...
Best memories I have of WoW were rare pet hunting at the beginning of Cata. Got Sambas In like 2 days and made all the other hunters jelly with my Chad lion.
>>729898495What, level 25? What's wrong with that? Pick up your totem, King, we're getting you to the place where your class is the main character.
>>729898606I thought druids were the MC of TBC.
>>729898606tbc classic anniversary is going to use wrath style bloodlust so no more shaman stacking
>>729898774The cenarion circle was present, sure, but they never really did anything. It was the shamans that learned how to get in touch with the other world's elements and shit to try to heal the land and stop the evil and all that jazz.
>>729898881Oh you meant lore. I was talking about how op they were.
I'll never forgive them for what they did to this game. WoW has some of the comfiest areas in all of vidya, and I have so many good memories associated with it. Even though they fucked it up in so many ways, it will never die because most of the players have invested too much time into it to quit. It just makes me sad.

I used to buy physical gametime keys to pay for my sub and back then, they had this little cardboard piece in place of where the CD would be in the box. This cardboard piece had an undead woman with extremely nice tits printed on one side. I was cranking it to that all the time as a teen

>>729893808Reminder that the Stormwind c"anal"s are an open-air sewer. That place probably smells worse than the Undercity.
>>729895237TB can be very annoying to find certain vendors and Cairne (Baine later) with its three floor elevationIronforge operates off the same principle as the Undercity but has a shitty inner ring and in-between shops.
the comfiest for me is ironforge. it's like living in moria but with fewer balrogs and orcs
>>729900108Tauren has practiced Kodo husbandry since WC3, its clearly their main source of food.
>>729900163The lifts have absolutely 0 engineering, it's just magic. Air elementals. And they didn't develope guns themselves at all, they merely adopted them once others showed them. Tauren are supposed to strongly reflect native Americans. They didn't invent jack shit.
>>729900163The idea that a race as primitive as the tauren managed to invent guns was always fascinating to me. It made me wish there was some kind of allusion to how that might have happened in the games, like I'd half expect mulgore to have natural gunpowder deposits or something.

>>729902091>flying mounts
>>729902651Flying mounts were the real thing that started the rapid death of the game and therefore the genre as a whole. The addition of flying mounts means mapmaking is no longer the careful handcrafted sequential adventure it once was. It's now just "this is the area for this quest" repeated over the entire map with little to no attention to detail or environmental storytelling like there once was.
>>729895078The Cata OST was awful and replaced so many of the good tunes from classic.
>>729902865Thanks grok, cowabummer
>>729899814My brother. No joking around I discovered what wacking off was thanks to seeing the titty window for undead female warlocks in character creation. I have loved undead girls ever since.
>>729903109First time I've been called an ai, cheers
furback fucking niggers
>>729893192It was always nearly deserted back when I played. It was a pretty comfy place to hang out while I chatted with friends on AIM or Yahoo.
>>729893192The older I get, the more I appreciate Darn. Although I still think the Night Elves should have had a capital in Ashenvale or the Moonglade, or Kalimdor's Northern shore. Also classic+ when?
I always hated the crowded capital cities. The little inn in Brill was my favorite hangout.
>>729902865As much as people complain about flying, Blizzard does still design zones with exploring them on foot in mind first, and forces you to stay on the ground a lot before you can unlock flying in current content. It's not like XIV where you can pinpoint the exact cutoff before and after they added flying where they just completely stopped giving a shit about their open world design.
Sometimes I think of playing on a dead era server and just treating it as a single-player RPG
>>729903776Flying mounts never destroyed zone design; that was Cata, and even then there were plenty of great ideas in MoP and WoD. They destroyed player interaction in the world and World PvP.
Purge all horde zogs.
>>729903803I've been considering this except with another 4 players so we could do dungeons and stuff.
>>729903916I was going to mention that Cata was one of the few times they let you fly from the get-go, and you can definitely tell there was a bit of a "who cares they'll fly over it anyway" attitude in some parts of the zones.
>>729903916>Lets redesign every single vanilla zone AND make a series of new 80-90 zones in a single expansion dev cycle>This couldn't possible lead to a lazy rush job with a bunch of hacks and new hire novices fucking it all up.
>>729900157A splinter faction of Tauren that defects to the Alliance after trying to oppose all the senseless destruction that the Orcs and Forsaken and Goblins cause would be a good premise for a playable race. Too bad blizzard is only interested in adding elfs to the game now.

>>729905358Nah, I'd much rather play with actual people. Single player project is for spastics who've given up on making friends.
>>729905578As a long time FFXIV player who never touched world of warcraft, when I looked at the maps and zones of wow they look so comfy, something about them seems aesthetically pleasing and they're connected to each other so you can travel across, unlike in FFXIV I have to go from loading screen to loading screen. Breaking immersion.I don't get to this day why wow faggots did that exodus into ffxiv, can someone explain it to me because FFXIV is incredibly restrictive compared to warcraft from what I've seen another example there are invisible walls everywhere and you can't jump to your death but you can in wow.
>>729904931It's never "just vanilla with more stuff" though they always end up changing fundamentals for the worse>hey let's give every class a stun and a gapcloser and make all hybrid classes the same as pure dps classes>hey let's uncap raid debuffs lol surely this wont mess with the balance>hey let's make it so r14 gear isn't hard limited to a percentage of the ranking population anymore, surely this wont mess with raid progression>hey let's add this qol thing that kills interactions in the world That said if they ever make a vanilla+ that is actually just vanilla with alternate/additional THOUGHT OUT content I would love it. Emphasis on thought out. Vanilla balance is fairly fragile, you can't just go "hey lets give ele shamans a full ele-variant of T1 that gives them some OP set bonus" and expect them to not blow mages out the water as a result. It needs to be very held back and actually thought out to make sure you don't totally shit on the entire games balance by adding something just because it sounds good. A relatively low risk, high reward addition to any vanilla+ concept is new races. Ogres for horde, high elves for alliance, there. Keep the raicals on par with other stuff and now it's just more variety and fun with no drawback. And don't fucking give alliance shamans and horde paladins, that shit is cool and I dont knwo why EVERY vanilla+ concept wants to remove it.
>>729905836>I don't get to this day why wow faggots did that exodus into ffxivGrifters needed something to drive hits.
>>729905917So was it more a thing for those who have made a living out of making videos out of wow and ffxiv that pushed it? Makes sense I guess if they've milked a game for everything they can they need a new pasture to farm. Shame, I'm so tempted to try wow but i've no idea what version, where to start and just feel like i'm years and years too late to the game.

I hit the gold cap in WotLK on like 6 characters using a bot to autocraft glyphs that were worth more than a set amount according to an auction house scan. The bot would also cancel any auctions that had been undercut, and undercut the undercutter by 1 copper. All I had to do was craft the glyphs, which was easy, because I had three Chinese gold farmers sending me herbs via cash on delivery. I hit high warlord in vanilla. I think I had like 100 days of playtime before burning crusade came out. I spent countless hours in duo arenas in BC. I was involved in the first Molten Core clear on my server, and one of the first BWL clears. AND YET, despite all of that, all of the hours, experiences, and memories I have in WoW I don't remember a single fucking thing about Thunderbluff aside from the fact that one of my gold carrying alts was stationed there. There has perhaps not been a more irrelevant and forgettable place in any online game than Thunderbluff. I don't even have memories of Mulgore aside from some silver elite tiger that had super fast attack speed before hunter pet normalization and hunters trying to compete over taming it so they could fuck casters over. I was absolutely obsessed with WoW from 2004-2008, to a level that borders derangement, and yet if you put me in Thunderbluff I'd be lost immediately.

>>729893262Wouldn't they just throw the shit off of the bluff itself
>>729914015>>729915198>>729915267>undead lose a lot of sensation so they probably can't smell itSeems like it. This is from a short story about Nathanos when he got transformed into having a new, less rotted body (pic-related was Nathanos originally):>"After winding back through the secret tunnels, the pair traversed a long corridor that opened into the outer ring encircling the Undercity. Entering the common area, Nathanos soon recognized a disadvantage of his new form. Like his other faculties, his sense of smell had grown stronger. As a group of three Forsaken approached, the stench of their rotted flesh brought him near to retching. He hadn't noticed the scent of death after waking from the ritual, but out here, among thousands of undead, the odor pummeled him in waves."So Undercity is probably fine for Undead but would smell fucking horrible for a regular human. Also in real life people who don't bath have a tendency not to notice their own stench because they just get used to it. Like they flat out don't perceive how bad they smell even if they smell horrid to other people.

vanilla ironforge was the best. Always packed with people with comfy fireplace ambience, and it's usually the city horde picked to do some griefing/pvp so there's ample distractions if you just don't want to grind anymore and just want to chill and chat.
>>729925721Literally all their EK quests were nothing but attacking human farmers unprovoked, I never understood what exactly seperates them from the scourge because they do the exact same shit. If they were properly written the foresaken COULD have been an intermediary bridge between the alliance and horde being former lordaeron citizens but they did absolutely nothing but spread murder and malice.
>>729925880>what exactly separates them from the scourgeThey have free will. They just use it in the worst ways, seeking revenge endlessly and hopelessly to achieve a goal forever out of reach. They tried rejoining the Alliance, and were swiftly rebuked by the living. Then the Scarlet Crusade started to round up and torture the Forsaken, and things got messier from there.
>>729925880>Literally all their EK quests were nothing but attacking human farmers unprovokedTo be fair it's more of an actual war between the Scarlet Crusade and the Forsaken rather than the undead just going and killing some farmers for fun. The farms you attack in quests are just a part of the Forsakens actual campaign on securing Tirisfal glades and the surroundings for themselves. Attacking and destroying food supply sources is just a regular war tactic. They do it again in quests against Southshore in the Hillsbrad Foothills. Now them taking food and using it as a vector for testing and spreading plagues against the living? Yeah that's 100% them just being written as evil dickheads who have lost their Humanity after becoming Undead. The writers just seemed to really like the idea of the Forsaken being the Scourge except they serve Sylvanas instead of the Lich King

>>729895490One of the best things in SoD was the world buffs being put on a vendor in Ironforge in the later phases. Ironforge became the defacto hangout for the remainder of the Season.
>>729895536>TB, aside from the auctioneers, mailboxes and bankAnd that's all you need, it's the only city in the game where you can craft everything right next to the auctioneer and the bank since it has its forge and anvil right next to them while shit like Ironforge, UC and others requires you to walk for a minute to reach the closest anvil, the worst being probably Orgrimmar.
I remember it being very uninteresting place in middle of nowhere.Same for Night Elf, Draenei, Dwarf, Blood Elf capitals. For Horde, everyone were in Orgrimmar or Booty Bay and for Alliance it was that human capital. But after Crusader everyone went to Northrend to that flying city.Game probably isn't the same anymore after all those expansions, it's been like 15 years since I played this.
>>729927418When the camera pans down it makes me think that that wasn't milk at all, but semen, and that makes it far hotter.
>>729926784Yeah, but they didn't, don't, and won't, because the initial concept of having edgy metalheads rise from the dead to add a neutral hard Rock empire to the otherwise quintessential fantasy kingdoms was buried by the time of release. It's best reflected in their Inns.Instead of that, you get multiple quests in 'nilla where they torture puppies and kittens for fun to, "find a cure," for undeath, and the writers constantly fumbling to make them empathetic monsters by having quest givers cry all the time. They still aren't the Scourge; just assholes.
>>729893192Backthen, the only MMOs I've played backthen was RO and some other obscure korean shit. Undercity and Thunder Bluff blew my mind.>>729899741Every female player I know either play Belf or Femtauren, mostly femtauren.
>>729925606They’re undead, their brains don’t even produce the proper chemicals for serotonin or gratification from emotions like empathy, compassion and logic anymore. Their pleasure receptors are gone forever which is why theyre all miserable, monstrous cretins.
>>729928114I have to disappoint you. Her kitty is just that thick
>>729928361Stinky undead goth girl pussy...
>>729928361>>729928890Makes me think of that one horror movie where they fuck and her pussy is falling apart and rotting away. The dude then initially thinks she's just very wet.
>>729928361>"find a cure,"They made forsaken unironically try to "find a cure" to undeath now? What is the lore justification for this? I only ever played vanilla and there every single one just wants 2 things, kill bitch king and kill all humans. Why the fuck would they *want* to be humans now?
>>729929454who fucking knows. The Lore went to shit before Legion already, but at least it was kind of still aiming for something. Now they just do things. Nobody at Blizzards thinks further ahead than the current expansion or content patch. They probably want to become humans now because Sylvanas at some point said "no more!" or some other amazing girlboss thing.
>>729928952How many personal undead girl harems did the Lich King allotted to his necromancer servants to prevent mutiny?
Sometimes I remember Sally Whitemane and get sad...
>>729929615Wacraft lore died alongside the Lich King atop Icecrown Citadel.
