I fucking hate the Skin Granny so much. You have no idea. She was an absolute nightmare to fight as the Outlander on Hard Mode. I only managed to beat her when I had a 2 skellies and a ghoul in my party. It's complete bullshit that she can use critical slash multiple times and that her limbs have so much health. At least you can reliably beat the crow mauler if you have the iron mask, there is nothing you can do here.

Gonna play this game soon, but I gotta ask, how many playthrough do you need to do experience all the content?
Should my first playthrough be blind, or with a guide because the game will throw some shit that will permanently ruin my run?
How many endings does the game have?
Is it worth buying it on Steam?
>>
>>729897037
>how many playthrough do you need to do experience all the content?
ALL of the content? Strictly speaking, you would need to go through 4 playthroughs on Funger difficulty (1 for each character), 4 playthroughs on Terror and Starvation (1 for each character) and however dozens of playthroughs it takes for you to get lucky enough to manage to finish Hard Mode with each character, because you can't save on Hard Mode. But realistically you can get most of the content just by playing through the game start to finish 4-5 times, if you ignore hard mode.

I think your first playthrough should be blind. Get at least one ending blind, then you can look things up.

There are 5 endings that can be achieved in the normal modes, 4 unique endings that can be achieved on hard mode.

It's pretty cheap so you could buy it on steam. Miro has more money than he deserves especially since he hasn't fixed any bugs so maybe pirate it out of principle.
>>
>>729897037
>Should my first playthrough be blind
Yea, I played the first time without any guide, although it can be a bit trial and error at times, once you start to get the flow of how encounters work it's not that bad.
>the game will throw some shit that will permanently ruin my run?
No? I would only say that if you loose a limb or something just load an old save, losing your hand or leg is just not really fun to play
>>
>>729896346
First time playing this shit and Im so confused as to how play this game. Im here to find Legarde but he's already dead, I know you can find him alive, but does that matter? Do I just keep playing or should I restart? Does gear eve matter? Im guessing weapons do, but armor seems to do nothing
>>
>>729897037
I was only able to play through these games using a modded save file to give myself infinite save books. Otherwise you will explore and try things out to see what happens only to instantly die and lose hours of progress. I did enjoy the game but it has no respect for your time so if you find yourself getting frustrated by this, just do what I did.
>>
>play FH in 2019

>>
>>729897628
Le'garde being dead affects the endings you can achieve. But you can still get perfectly acceptable (?) endings without him. In fact I prefer the endings where he dies. Gear does matter somewhat when it comes to certain attacks, but your 'defense' stat means almost nothing. What matters the most is having gear that stops you from being dismembered

Also, the second one seems like a more traditional RPG, in the sense that you can actually fight things and don't have to avoid shit as much, if so should I just skip the first one and play the second one instead?

>>
>>729898006
The first one is funner than the second one in my opinion. Make of that what you will. Nothing's really stopping you from playing the second one first though.
>>
Funger is a game you're better off just watching a youtube video on it rather than playing it yourself.
>>
>>729896740
let's go big boy
>>
>>729898062
The guards are really easy to fight once you realize you can target individual limbs. His left arm hacks at you with a cleaver on the first turn while his right arm grabs and kills you on the second turn. It's pretty obvious what the game wants you to do (once you die once to him).
>>
>>729898062
Same problem here
>watch videos on youtube about the game
>guy on the video is always at full health
>decide to give it a go and play the game since it looks interesting
>always struggling after one encounter
I really want to like it, but spamming run multiple times each battle from the same enemy, almost all of them can easily catch up to you, is kind of annoying
>>
>>729898457
Try getting the 'Dash' skill in the prologue. You usually get it by not preparing and simply heading straight to your objective. It's absolutely insane that you can start the game without it but the dev is simply retarded. It lets you move twice as fast pretty much.

Picrel. You're legitimately supposed to just try random shit until it works that wastes your time immensely, and repeat that for every single enemy in the game. The game is one big time wasting joke, without the internet, absolutely NOBODY would know that talking to a specific enemy gets you a companion when literally any turn wasted means instant death meaning you can not afford to waste a turn trying the talk option.
>>
>>729898694
I think the ideal way to play it is to have a friend who knows stuff to give you small hints on how to beat certain annoying enemies. There is no way in hell I would have ever found out that you could stun lock Francois or Valteil or.. god forbid, the dogs, by talking to them and picking the right dialogue options just by trial and error. But straight up consulting a guide feels cheap.
>>
>>729898669
>It's absolutely insane that you can start the game without it
Why? If anything Dash just makes the game boring when you can outrun everything and not even care where you're going. Not having Dash makes you feel as vulnerable as the dungeon is supposed to make you feel, and it means you have to actually dodge and fight enemies, and get punished when you fuck up.

Yeah. On my first runs, I think because of what I picked during the intro, I had 2 options with the same name, "Guard". One was useless meanwhile the other actually guarded, and utter fucking retards will act like it's my fault that the game uses the same name for 2 different actions that you can have on the first minute of playing.

The designer straight-up forgot to give you any organic learning curve that doesn't involve wasting your time in such an autistic way almost nobody goes through it, because you don't feel like you misplayed when you die because of bad luck picking an option you had no way of knowing wasn't the right one, you just feel unlucky.
>>

I never played 1 but people say it's easier, and I didn't find 2 particularly hard? The only thing that was difficult about it was figuring out the endings, but playing the game and progressing was fairly standard.

Are people that brainrotted by modern games that any game that doesn't let you savescum immediately filters you?

You get a gun or bear traps and that alone skips like 90% of the game if you're not stupid. I fucking hate modern gamers.
>>
>>729899345

pretty sure 99% of youtubers have made videos on this game by now

except gacha trash, for some odd fucking reason
>>
>>729898948
Gameplay wise, yeah. The game is nigh indefensible.
Sticking with it (or just watching that long ass vid on youtube made by that girl) for the lore is worth enough, the story is pretty nice.
In the open world there's a level of fun to ''wait, I stepped on a fucking nail so now my leg is infected and bleeding and I'm going to fucking die? I can cure the bleeding with cloth that I can get from various sources but the infection needs a specific antidote or I have to saw my fucking leg off? and then drag myself around with only one leg?''. Or just sawing off the girl's limbs for no reason.
But the combat? Nope. There's absolutely zero fun in finding out you get raped by the guard unless you do this specific sequence of actions. And as the anon put it, it doesn't feel rewarding to learn that.
>>
>>729899021
It's not like it's necessary to know those things. You could just... fight the bosses instead. Finding out you can do those types of things on your own is so much more satisfying. The feeling when I found out I could make the ghouls just stop attacking and not infect me just by talking to them nearly made me ejaculate.
>>
>>729899124
It is almost impossible to effectively dodge certain enemies without the Dash skill. For example, the elite guard in front of the lever in the prisons. He is avoidable without dash in certain layouts but not all of them. You would need bear traps or Marksmanship to kill him since you wouldn't have the necessary gear/party members to do so normally, and those are RNG dependent for the most part.
>>
>>729899485
I did fight the bosses during my first playthroughs on Funger/T&S mode, when I had a full party, but getting absolutely decimated by them repeatedly on hard mode made me check the wiki to see if there was anything I could do to make my life easier.
>>
I was shilled on this game by the dev in a ryona thread
thanks, you weird finnish bastard
>>
>>729899350
The game didn't respect my time, and avoiding the enemies all I could find was the most edgy childish "the bible but with shit and blood and piss everywhere" pseudo-lore bullshit. Funger is just lol random get fucked luck tests, which is dogshit gamedesign.

>>729899474
Indeed. Those flaws mostly come from the fact the game is too retarded and caught-up in its own le dark universe to actually wound you instead of killing you. Lethally debilitating wounds happen in a single turn, you cannot afford to be wounded, so any mistake is an instant restart, and searching hundreds of barrels with RNG loot and a literal coinflip whether you get something or not is shit design.
>>
Bros i too saw the new Pyrocinical video about Fear and Hunger! and i can't wait to watch him play part 2 so i don't have too!
>>
>>729899678
I see your point and it is a fair criticism of the game however I disagree with you on the fact that you can't afford to be wounded. You can always go for a Marriage if your main character turns into a paraplegic with anal bleeding and a fracture. Or sacrifice the girl to the moon god. Then again you wouldn't know that unless you decided to 'show love' to a party member out of curiostiy.

>Marriage if your main character turns into a paraplegic with anal bleeding and a fracture. Or sacrifice the girl to the moon god.
Those are things you discover later in the game. People loved to seethe about "but there is X good npc you can find easily at the start!" well I didn't find it in an hour or two or playing so no, he wasn't easy to find. I was playing the game as the setting dictated, that is, looting around, trying to be sneaky and get strong weapons and armors, because it's clearly horror themed, but no, the only way to learn the game is to bumrush the first enemy and die 15 times learning his pattern. What kind of autistic retard deliberately just suicide-rushes the enemies in a horror setting?

Looting was RNG and boring, combat was unfair ass-raping, rushing the enemies would have completely destroyed any sense of fear, so I dropped it. It failed at basic game-design. It's an issue with a lot of games sadly, that they just never bother to make the intro not dogshit. For example, I like Kenshi, and it has some great lore and good writing, but for some fucking reason the first town you spawn in has 0 dialogue, nothing, making the game seem dead and bland. Devs need to stop being retarded and actually make proper intro areas.

I think most status effect are too common and too easy to get for how hard they are to treat and for how crippling they are. Let's be honest, you lose a leg, that's a reset.
>>
>>729900269
Alright SOME enemies are definitely bullshit but if you're unironically telling me that it took you more than like 2 tries to figure out the basic guard's attack pattern then that's on you. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "the only way to learn the game is to bumrush the first enemy [...]", I don't think I fought the basic guards at all during my first playthrough since I naturally avoided encounters until I got a party member later in the game. Also I don't know who told you that there was a 'good NPC' at the start since that is untrue, you can only start recruiting 'good' people once you're like a third of the way through the game. Unless the girl counts as a good NPC.

I will add that I also think the game is seriously flawed, I just wouldn't go so far as calling it complete garbage.
>>
>>729896346
?trial and error>
>>
>>729900708
Losing a leg is literally the one status affect that does nothing, actually. Losing both legs (or an arm or both arms) is an issue though. However I think this is compensated by the fact that you get like 4 green herbs at the start of the game to treat your infections.
>>
>>729900780

>enter the Fungeon
>form a party and find The Girl
>find Legarde dead
>immediately exit Fungeon
Is that it? It was a pretty good adventure but I personally didn't see any reason to continue deeper, especially with a child at my side. Everyone's goal was to find Legarde and once you do that you might as well leave with your lives and make sure the child gets out safe. I feel pretty satisfied.
>>
>>729901032
If you're fine with ending it there, sure. If you want to see more of the world, then you can keep exploring and finding stuff.
If you play in hard mode, every character gets an explicit motivation added to the end of their intro that gets reaffirmed when you find Legarde dead with a hint on what to do.

Didn't know about the hard mode. Maybe you're all right and I shouldn't be such a pussy. I'll probably still start over though.

Honestly it just reminded me of the Pixel Dungeon ending where you can just cash out immediately or take a risk and continue and possibly die horribly. I'll be braver.
>>
>>729901227
Yeah that's fair, I just figured with how bleak everything was, ducking out once the main goal was "technically" achieved felt like the sanest ending possible. But I guess that's not really what Funger's about, lmao.
Still, hard mode intros slapping you with a character's personal trauma and telling you to deliberately stick your face back in the meat grinder is exactly the kind of degenerately compelling storytelling I expected. Might have to psych myself up for a second run.
