With fucking 50 years people would build civilizations. Old fucking wood buildings would rot away. OH AND CARS a few fucking 12 volt batteries and a basic electric motor you can travel 100km's before needing to charge. With a god damn fusioncell that shit would last a long time. Rail lines would be easy to fix trains can run on anything. Fucking diesel cars will run off any and everything.

I have no hopes. After watching Bethesda butcher the Fallout TV Show in the exact same way Paramount butchered Star Trek, I no longer have hope. Millennial writers are told to keep the same three things but invert them to justify more plot, but the plot is shit and doesn't make sense given the established series. In Star Trek Picard it was re-doing the Federation as the Confederation and in Fallout it was messing with the NCR. Fallout 5 will be New Vegas 2 or some bullshit set in Necropolis with a TV tie in, the entire thing will feel like a movie and be one big cutscene like the first hour of Fallout 4. Which is very deliberate. It is so shit, Bethesda has ruined Fallout in the same way they also ruined Terminator although back then the games were at least technically impressive.

As for what I'd want out of another Bethesda Fallout game: Ignore New Vegas, Fallout 4 and the TV series completely. NV is good and shouldn't be tampered with, Fallout 4's plot doesn't make sense, and the TV show is crap. Bethesda had a good enough rebooted east coast plotline, so stick with that. Have the player step out of a Vault into Baltimore or Philadelphia, find a new enemy that isn't generic super mutants with assault rifles, and stop copying Borderlands. Raiders should come from identifiable places and tribes, Fo3 has a mod that does this and the plot has them generate from Evergreen Mills and Paradise Falls. Super Mutants shouldn't exist, although more abominations like the Centaurs would be cool and Fo3 has a mod that does this. Point Lookout's Swampfolk were great and there is an FNV mod that adds them to FNV.

As for what I'd want out of the plot, I want something normal, straightforward, and no twists or weird sexual interests or woman shit. Fo3 managed to do that, barely, but it did.

Swampfolk are probably the best enemy Bethesda has ever created, including Elder Scrolls. Swampfolk are the destroyed and corrupted, but not quite feral, humans that inhabit Maryland. Their high DT forces players to shoot off limbs first, making VATS useful, and they can use guns making them dangerous at range vs normal zombies/ghouls. Iterating on this idea would be Bethesda's best leg, just make city/urban versions of them and say Baltimore was hit with a Cobalt Bomb that did radiation death moreso than explosive death. Player then needs to find cure for radiation. Basically the same plot as Fallout 3, but with a more aggressive and dangerous enemy. And, an enemy that leads to varied and unique designs not just rebadged nameless Psychos with no personality or traits.

The RNG loot system Fo4 doesn't help either and I expect Fo5 to use a lootbox like system that allows players to just buy better guns midgame or buy more ammo when they run out. Why not. Bethesda just wants a money machine and there's a class of people who do not want any horror, nuance or art in their post-apocalyptic slop they just want to shoot dudes like in Borderlands. Fo5 will probably just be a gun game only, melee weapons aren't used by anybody and they can add more gun mods this way.

It works fine if you’re writing for Devil May Cry, but if you apply it to RPGs it’s awful. He’s an active detriment to the main story of these games. I know I did say I didn’t want him to work on the game, but I’ll give him credit where it’s due. The cosmic horror lovecraft additions he added were decent. World built with NOT using fast travel in mind.
NO IMMORTAL NPCS. Write the fucking quests and game progression around that design philosophy.
Set in either the Pacific NW or farther north in New England than 4. I want a good portion of the map to be snowy areas.
