Nintendo should make experimental games again.
>>
>>729919218
This game flopped though.
Shame because it's the best Pokemon spinoff aside from maybe Legends: Arceus.
>>
>>729919218
Why were some of your units locked into shitmons with moves like Dream Eater?
>>
>>729919376
>locked into shitmons
You can recruit different Pokemon.
>moves like Dream Eater
That was only Musharna. Just don't evolve Munna, or try utilizing its ability that puts everyone around it to sleep every turn.

I said “experimental”, not “dogshit”
>>
>>729919529
sorry let me rephrase, experimental games that are good
>>
>>729919218
I think Switch is primarily disappointing bc its rly just a continuation of the same era we've been in for 8 years.
The only game that truly feels new and exciting and different is bananza and its the most well received game on the console
>>
>>729919218
But anon, don't you know? All we're gonna get now is bloated Mario Odyssey clones, empty Tears of the Kingdom clones, broken Pokémon games and Mario Kart DLC! Isn't that great! Don't you just heckin' love modern Nintendo, anon?
>>
has anyone played the Conquest Ultimate romhack? it's supposed to be decent
>>
>>729919218
They could really improve the system, like giving Pokemon more than 1 move
>>
>>729919529
Honestly if this is what experimental looks like i’d rather they don’t bother at all
>>
>>729919218
Nintendo didn't make this
>>
>>729920000
The most experimenting nintendo has done in recent times that i can think of has been 1-2 switch, labo, that one super secret playtest that everyone forgot about, and dragxdrive. Also nice quads.
>>
No matter how much shit people give for nintendo being uncreative, the games continue to sell. It happens over and over and over. So why the hell would they make something creative to guarantee something sells less instead of bing bang wahoo #57?
fucking retarded tendies
>>
>>729919218
oh what? a zelda musou for the third time isn't creative enough for you?
>>
>>729919218
Ah yes experimental like combine Nintendo and Koei Tecmo's popular series to make a spinoff crossover game.

>1-2 switch
Little more than your bogstandard party game. The only real “experimental” part came from the use of the joycons extra functions which ended up being done better in WarioWare (can apply that to the whole of the game actually). Also a reminder that the sequel leaked ahead of release and got panned so hard by playtesters they were actively encouraged to NOT release it lest they sully their reputation, it was THAT bad
>labo
Somewhat novel idea, but they tried to sell you overpriced cardboard. No one was getting past that
>NSO playtest
Pulls from like a dozen different games. Experimental maybe for them, but it’s about as creative as the average indie where the creator just smushes together all the games he likes
>dragxdrive
Using double mouses is a gimmick at best. Also, was crippleball the best they could come up with?
Again, if this is what “experimental” is to nintendo then they shouldn’t be experimenting at all
>>
>>729919218
>experimental
it's just Nobunaga's Ambition with a pokemon skin

The age of experimental games is long gone. Corporations have too much of our data so they don't need to throw crazy new ideas at the wall to see what sticks anymore. They KNOW making the same shit over and over will sell. Any big IP trying something different is either a seen as a huge financial risk or is exclusively created as a mobile slop game already mathed out to drain money from anyone who touches it.
>>
>>729920685
post the other sprite.
>>
>>729921342
Nobunaga’s Ambition lite with a pokemon skin
Didn’t Yokai Watch get one too?
>>
>>729919218
Pokemon Conquest is a terrible game. You have shit taste.
>>
>>729920000
>>729919603
>>729919598
You can’t have it both ways. Experimental games are going to mostly suck. One that is good is a rarity.
>>
>>729922062
so why were the gamecube titles good?
>>
>>729919218
A pokemon srpg sounds like a clear winner but this game wasn't it sadly. Game felt like it needed more budget.
>>
>>729919218
Oh shit, a warring states pokemon? Gonna look it up.
>>
>>729922518
It's super fucking under baked. It needed about 3* more time in the oven.
>>
>>729922062
The biggest issue with stuff that experiments, is that they usually need a follow up to refine the formula and work out the kinks. Getting a follow up is a coin toss, and even if it happens, no guarantee it’ll be received better in comparison, if it is.
>>
>>729919218
Super Paper Mario was very experimental, but not in a good way
>>
>>729922512
>>729922646
The problem is that the game they decided to cross over with is an autistic grand strategy series that they combined with another series for kids so naturally it had to be dumbed down
>>
>>729922512
>One move per min
>The move is defined by the mon
>Dual types are now mostly useless since you are only ever hitting with 1 STAB
>Stacking leader powers is OP as fuck even without talking about the unique warlord skills
>Subsequent playthrough are face rolls as you start with your previous teams that warlord has. So enjoy buttfucking the game with stage 2 mons while everyone is on basically for the first year
>Stats and stat calcs are honestly fine
It didn't need too much to make it good
It didn't need too much but holy shit you can feel the problems the second you are out of the tutorial
>>
>>729922774
Nobinagas ambition isn't that autistic. I have played porn games an order of magnitude more autistic
>>
>>729922395
Idk probably cause the people making those games weren’t zoomers?
>>
>>729922793
don't forget
>get any of the warlords their legendary
>anything that isn't a female contest is super trivialized
>>
>>729919218
fire emblem but worse
>>
Name ONE(1) good experimental idea Nintendo has come up with that was good. I dare you.
Face it anon, they're just not good at innovation in game design.
>>
>>729923308
Eh that kinda goes with having stage 2s but worse. Doing kenjis early straight up ruins the game unless you actively hinder yourself
>>
>>729922062
Indies experiment all the time and you get gems from them constantly, almost all on their first try. You mean to tell me nintendo wanting to experiment with dual mouse controls it just HAD to be basketball on wheels? No other option?
>>
>>729923512
Super Mario RPG times hits for extra damage. Refined to it's peak in LotD. Blocking sucks though

pikmin? splatoon? luigis mansion? Just do more weird shit, it's not like they don't have ideas, one of Retro's cancelled games was about playing as the Sheikah.
>>
>>729923747
i like how mario rpg makes the timing super hard to hit consistently, it keeps the combat engaging when its impossible to autopilot it.
>>
>>729923667
i'll take a new sin and punishment with mouse controls please, or at least star successor on nso with mouse controls

>>
>>729924945
Nu snap is actually good and dx was fine. But in general yeah I agree. The answer is dlc. Nintendo going full DLC shilling is raping their development and really shows in legends za

Unironically this. Star Successor was straight fire on the Wii with IR controls, but imagine the precision of a mouse instead-actual dopamine injections with every perfect air-dodge into a multi-lock missile barrage. Treasure was on some galaxy brain shit and the fact no one's picked that torch back up is criminal. Give me that arcade crack but run it in 1440p with smooth mouse aim and I'd never touch another rail shooter again.

>>
>>729919598
You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. Splatoon was experimental and now it's one of Nintendo's big series. They tried it again with Arms and it didn't have the same success beyond a niche group. That's the nature of these kind of games.
>>
>>729925586
this but not picrel. TCG pocket is printing money for them forever.
>>
>>729924945
Mobile slop is cheaper to produce and makes more money.
>>
>>729919218
Nintendo didn't make this, they only published it. Or technically The Pokemon Company published, but that's pretty much still Nintendo. Were there any other third party games using Nintendo's IP? Maybe Nintendo should allow more of that.
