No one really cares about defeating Junko or the asspull happy ending. Nagito's wild ride and the cases themselves are the main appeal of DR2. So even though the game was supposedly all fake, it still had an effect on the cast and the people watching. It's why there's that whole "fiction can change the world" part. On top of that the game leaves the ending ambiguous so you can take your own meaning from the game and decide what you believe were the truths or lies. I personally don't like how ambiguous the ending is, but I think it's a step up from 1 and 2 which both have objective plot holes and pretty basic themes. And because I like to enjoy DR as a mystery game, the potential of having an answer that makes sense is better than having an answer that doesn't make sense. I would obviously prefer an ending that just makes sense though, which is why I still wouldn't call V3's ending good.
