There's something weird about the camera angle they've gone with and I can't put my finger on it. It makes everything look really flat, even the AdMech walker down the bottom there that should be tall and spindly looks almost two dimensional. Maybe adjusting the camera will make the game look better, I dunno.

The way they removed collisions on units was kinda cheap and changes the game quite heavily. But Relic itself is currently an indie studio living hand-to-mouth and for better or worse are updating most other things to line up better with the OG game.

Probably not. Your best bet is a very bland/middling release like AoE4. The setup is extremely similar:
>A brand new dev who has no experience making games like that.
>A community primed to rip out their throat.
>AoE2DE/TW40k already providing the exact same thing at the same time, but with a much more stable dev, fanbase and bigger resources.
It will sell some 2 million copies to people who live on internet hype instead of playing games. The sort which will quickly realise there is nothing to draw them into the game and they'll quickly drop it for good.

i tried it when it first came out, but the dark crusade mod i liked didnt work and kept crashing, they dont allow you to natively play dark crusade skirmish only soulstorm, i dont like how the pathing fix involves the niggers just coalescing together.
the arty was nice though, and i hear they've updated it a lot to fix a lot of issues, but i dont think i'll buy it again since i refunded it shortly after it came out.

Anon, I know all too well what sort of shithouse CA is.
But CA is a massive shithouse. With billions of employees with experience. A big publisher with enough money to blow 100s of millions on Hyenas and Sakura Wars gacha games. A brainfucked fanbase ready to buy ANYTHING and a copy-paste game design that has worked for them for over 20 years now.

They are in an absolutely better position than either AoE4 Relic, which was stripped bare following the double-crash of THQ bankruptcy and DoW3 fiasco. Or these random indie Germans, thrown on the project after a botched turn based kickstarter game and a barely palatable CoH clone with robutts.
DoW4 lives on Warhammer 40k license alone.
No big publisher to fund it. No fanbase exists for King's Art Games. King's Art hasn't made a single popular game yet to copy ideas from. DoW as such is a non-starter because DoW1 people want DoW1, DoW2 people want DoW2, DoW3 got shot behind the shed. The devs in the studio itself hated working on RTS games already with Iron Harvest and wanted to make more turn based games.

So yes, TW40k has an infinitely more stable position to work from. It's the same as that recent BF game. EA is a shithouse, the last BF game was shit, the new BF game is also shit (just in different ways) but the copy-paste of basic gameplay, fanbase, EA marketing and simple inertia made that game one of the biggest sellers of last year and an astronomical success by vidya standards.

I mean, CA can barely make minor changes to existing games without horribly breaking shit and they're looking to completely shake up their existing formula on both the tactical and strategic fronts. I wouldn't be surprised if TW40K was literally unplayable on launch.
Regardless of how TW40K turns out though, I think you're completely wrong about the two games "competing" with each other. TW40K will still be a Total War game, while DoW4 is a traditional RTS. It's also not like DoW 1 or 2 has a sizable player base that isn't going to want to move to a new game, and traditional RTS in general have been extremely starved for new games for years now. As long as the game itself ends up being at least decent, I think it'll do fine.
