I personally love it. It feels way better than the switch did. The switch felt like a cheap toy, it would even squeek like one from the low build quality. The switch 2 has none of that.
The performance boost to my library is also greatly appreciated. Load times are down significantly. Games I was disappointed in are now a blast to replay. Shit that slogged in the single digit for framerate is now smooth and stable.
It's simple, but the little kickstand it has to keep it standing is real cozy. I find myself playing co-op games with friends and family while hanging out just like I did as a kid.
The past few months of switch game sales have been awesome, too.
My only real gripe I have with it is the battery life is too short, and that a lot of switch games are still locked at 30fps so they don't see a huge boost on them. There also aren't going to be a lot of switch 2 games for quite some time.
Overall pretty damn impressed, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone without a large existing switch game library. They're better off waiting for the inevitable pro version with a better battery, and for when it has a larger switch 2 library and more widespread updates to the switch 1 arsenal.

So I don't mind it. I'm mostly using it to play my backlog of Switch 1 games. The lack of exclusives is hurting the system. And $70-80 games that never go on sale is really going to hurt the system in the long run.

Standard games on PS5 are $70 for new releases and price cut after 1 month now because the average sold price for games is between $30 and $40, it's why Microsoft backed out of it after saying they would follow Nintendo. I've easily clocked ~300 hours of playtime with the Switch 2 across multiple titles (Crow Country, LA Noire, Donkey Kong Bananza, Fast Fusion, Resident Evil 6, Nobeta, Ball x Pit, Metroid Prime 4, Kunitsugami, Hardcore Mecha, Little Goody Two Shoes, etc etc.) since its launch day and it's not gonna decrease anytime soon (just recently finished The Return of Obra Dinn and Pikmin 4 - while i'm now juggling between Full Metal Schoogirl and Tokimeki Memorial). I bought close to release. My thoughts so far:

- Mario Kart World fucking sucks, but then again I thought all of them were kind of shit starting with Wii. Might sell it down the line since I bought the game and console separately
- Bananza is about as good as Mario Odyseey, which is to say it's pretty good. Generally I'm not a fan of Odyssey's moons or BotW shrines, and both of these are in Bananza so I can't say I'm a huge fan. Also the destruction mechanic is cool but it makes every area feel kind of samey since you spend half the time tunneling underground and that looks the same wherever you are
- The console is maybe a little too big, not to the point where it bothers my wrists or anything, but it's not really more portable than a laptop or an iPad. If you're gonna take it somewhere, you'll need a case or something of the sort
- The screen looks nice, people made a huge deal out of how laggy it is but I can't notice a difference in ghosting compared to my Samsung phone which has a much higher end OLED screen. Contrast and colors are still visibly worse than the phone though
- Paying for patches for Switch 1 games is a scam of massive proportions, and barely any games have gotten these patches to begin with. I didn't own a Switch 1, if the games were adequately priced I would have picked up a bunch of games from 5-8 years ago just to have some extra stuff to play on the system even though I already have a bunch of them loaded on my PC, but there's absolutely zero chance I'm spending $85 to get the complete version of BotW or $60 to play Mario Odyssey without any upgrades
- Paid online is a scam and you're a retard if you sign up for it

Overall I'm not dissatisfied with the system, but I only got it to play the big upcoming exclusives for this generation and I don't expect to get much use from it outside of that. My S24 Ultra with a controller attachment is still my main handheld since I keep a bunch of emulators loaded onto it from the SNES to the PS2/GC

Prime 4 was just a massive disappointment and the 2026 lineup doesn't interest me so far. I got this earlier than I wanted to, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. My older games do hold up, and the enhancements for BoTW and especially Splatoon 3 made me want to revisit them more than I normally would. As for my nitpicks, I do think that the drip feeding of NSO titles and Switch 2 patches/versions is a very lame way to do it, but the Switch 2 is otherwise what I wanted it to be. It pairs very nicely with my Steam Deck, since they both play different games that I wouldn’t play on the other. Steam Deck for my PC games and for pre Switch 1 enulation, and Switch 2 for my Switch 1 games and Switch 2 exclusives.

I'm baffled by their first year output. Two racers and a platformer. Switch had Zelda, Mario, Splatoon 2 and a bunch of smaller tier titles. Kirby Air Riders was a wet fart and Metroid 4 is everything I dislike about modern Nintendo.

Switch 1 was my favorite console to date, its weird line up if third party games and steady line up of first party games made it feel like gen 6 part 2.
The switch 2 feels like gen 6 part 3 and the third one is never good.

Because of the screen, I use it as a tv console and still use the swoled as my daily console. A swoled 2 would be goat.
I dont really like how it feels in portable and I never felt the need for bigger screens(just move it an inch to your face), so overal mweh.

Nintendo doesnt have an iron grip in the EU, so I still pay around 50 bucks for physicals.

I still like it alot more then portable pc's because those are all fucking terrible in use.

Got mine at launch. The hardware itself is pretty much the upgrade that we desperately needed, I don't have really have anything bad to say about it. I do wish Nintendo made joycons with a proper dpad and analog triggers though.
On the software side, the first 6 months were far from ideal and Nintendo really needs to get their shit together. Right now, the biggest selling points are backwards compatibility and, oddly enough, third parties.
Mario Kart World is underwhelming. The core gameplay is solid as usual, but the open world implementation is deeply flawed and most tracks aren't particularly interesting. It's the kind of issue that could be fixed with DLC, but Nintendo hasn't really said anything about it so far. The $80 price tag doesn't help things either.
Donkey Kong Bananza and Kirby Air Riders are both pretty good, but not exactly system sellers, and Nintendo had very little to offer that really showcased what the console is capable of.
Then there's slop like Welcome Tour and Drag x Drive, which feel like a waste of resources and don't even look or play like something Nintendo would make. Compare that to Wii Sports and Nintendoland and the downgrade is very noticeable.

I havent owned a nintendo console since SNES.

I was a kid, so I didnt even buy it. They are never going to release a really powerful console, this will be as powerful as it gets for a long time probably. I still love certain nintendo IPs, and now they can make proper games graphics wise. Its a no brainer. Now obviously if you are some poor faggot, then this system is definitely not worth you getting. Mine has just been sitting on my tv stand, collecting dust. But I will be ready for whatever is coming

Got one for christmas + Bananza. Ive been poopooing Nintendo a lot this generation. But getting one as a gift, I really am enjoying it. Bananza is crazy fun. If nothing else its great to have to go through my switch 1 backlog.

Heavily debating Mario Kart World as my second game. Metroid i want but it seems kinda bad. Kirby Airriders I also want but the aura of Mario Kart is unmatched and I really want it. Cant tell if ill get buyers remorse though

The vast majority of people are fine with Mario Kart, it being terrible is just a youtuber grift campaign. Racing through the tons of paths between courses, with like two hundred different tunes and random traffic obstacles along the way, I find the previous games' three laps and single song per race pretty mundane now.
It's not perfect, the free roam is lacking any real content and only exists for kids who like wandering off the track, and for all the fancy new moves available the rubber banding will insure little Timmy who doesn't know how to drift will still keep up with the other racers. But it's still the best kart racer series by a massive margin.
