This is like their second relaunch now and they're still flopping? Embarrassing
>>

I'm not playing a game that takes over 2 minutes of waiting to play a match regardless if its the most fun I've ever had online.

You know the game is dead when the dev posts statements like this
>>
>>730211991

This is one of the biggest red flag statements I can think of. Any time someone says something like this you can bet the people working on it were neither talented nor hardworking.

Your games are dead for a reason, boomer.

If anyone ever asks for the text version of the 'I'm not frustrated!!' meme, this is it. What amazing cope, distilled into a single image.

>Steam charts don't measure fun

Yeah, but they measure whether a game is dead or not, and I can't think of many dead multiplayer games that are fun to play.

>>730213068
>don't try measuring fun
I don't know if trying to measure fun is more or less embarrassing than when big publishers use bullshit metrics to try to pretend their new game isn't flopping. (Like Ubisoft using the brand new 'session days' metric when trying to explain why ACS was a success in one breath while categorically refusing to release sales figures in the other.)

That's a fucking sad PR move. I'm playing it, enjoying it somewhat, but the small 4v4 player counts is probably my most disliked part of it. One bad player on the team or someone disconnecting and being replaced by a bot is almost a guaranteed miserable match.
>>730212590
Yeah, as novel as the portal mechanic is, the way it is implemented is not really enjoyable.
Because the TTK is so slow, the most effective strategy is to shoot a portal behind the guy shooting at you so you can teleport behind them, you can take your sweet time doing so. Anyone with a bit of experience can zip across the whole map in seconds. Since you can't see through other players' portals, you can get sniped at without being able to see the guy on the other side, and your means of shutting down their portals is inconsistent and limited.
>>

They could go to Epic, where I don't think there's any ability to check the player count of a game. Likely because it would immediately show how there's probably only a few thousand people on Epic's store at any point.

>>
>>730214491
It's worse than that, pic related was what the game initially looked like when it was first announced years ago. the 'make FPS great again, btw here's a fortnite clone' announcement was actually a hard pivot from lefty pandering to righty pandering, with the recent launch they've pivoted back again to something that's probably more apolitical (I wouldn't know, I'm not touching it).

moral of the story is just make the fucking game and do it without pandering to retards

As much as I hate steam charts, if you have a multiplayer GaaS then the player count is essentially your life. That is the consequence of creating such a game. It's not the same thing as comparing the player count of singleplayer games.

Anon...
It's not even an MCU movie.
The whole joke with Morbius is that Sony has a weird rights thing with certain Spider-Man characters and they were trying to capitalize on it by making really shitty movies with Spider-Man villains but no Spider-Man, so they could attempt to get some of the MCU money. The Venom one was reasonable, but when they started making a movie for Morbius the Living Goddamn Vampire for some reason, it became great fuel for memes. Because it's so stupid, obviously forced, and transparently low quality. It doesn't help that Morbius itself is a funny name and it was a period in which people were having fun shitting on Jared Leto.

They also made movies for Kraven and Madame Webb but by then people had stopped giving a fuck because the Morbius joke had used up all the humor of the situation.

Oh they were DEFINITELY trying to set up a Sinister Six. Morbius to start, then Vulture shows up in the post credits, then Kraven gets a movie, then... god only knows who else. I'm guessing the plan was to have their version of Venom fight them.

They basically completely fucked it with the low TTK, if it was more like Halo it'd actually work because someone shooting at you from a portal would give you time to react instead of already being dead.
>>
>>730215269
They were retards trying to pander to everyone while fucking themselves in the ass.
They tried to appeal to the left by making lame and gay character designs, then alienated them by trying to appeal to the right with the MAKE FPS GREAT AGAIN marketing, but the right was already alienated by the lame and gay character designs.
Meanwhile they alienated the fans of arena shooters by putting loadouts and hero abilities in the game, and adding a battle royale mode, while the zoomer audience didn't care about the game because the portals gave it too high a skill ceiling.
The relaunch didn't fix anything to do with the conflicting attempts at getting different audiences.

Showing numbers reveals the truth. It's better to hide and disguise them, and then lie to shareholders for as long as possible. Imagine the "concord is breaking records!" narrative if steamcharts didn't show reality. The last couple of years every microsoft game narrative was "real players are playing in gamepass".

Just awoke a memory I had of a World of Tanks clone I worked on in 2018.
We had Texan oil money as funding. The top boss was paying millions to keep a full online game as a service online.

We had a player peak of 1000 on a Friday night, and 10% of that was the dev team because we made it part of our company culture to set aside time to play.
Millions for a f2p game nobody cared about lmao

Since no one gives a fuck about this game and the devs probably made this thread here are some suggestions:

- remove skins
- add a server browser
- add custom map support
- mark the bots as bots instead of disguising them as players
- ditch BR and focus on core modes
- tone down the art style, halo reach would be something to copy rather than fortnite

They didn't need to make a sequel. The first had some hype until Halo: Infinite "stealth launched" and stole their mojo. As soon as that happened they panicked and decided to make a sequel to try to get a second chance instead of just waiting for Infinite to kill itself and somehow get a second wind.

If that was the case, then why did their CHUD hat not bring players to where they aborted and tried for Lefties again, CHUD-kun?

The fact is: Splitgate just isn't popular, and aborting your game and relaunching later NEVER works, we have a history of this now.

Multiversus ("It was just a $250 beta guys!"), Marathon (soon and in a way), Splitgate 2.

If you unlaunch your title, you're admitting defeat and should just cancel the whole thing at that point and refund players like Concord/Sony did.
