Something I’ve thought about is that Palps is a traitor to the Sith order. He sees out the Grand Plan in RotS, but then he creates a political and social system that causes his apprentice to have no avenue towards succeeding his master. He breaks the Rule of Two after accusing Plagueis of doing so. If Vader ever succeeded in killing Palpatine he would be marked as a traitor by the galaxy and hunted, which would be the end of the Sith. He then callously brings both him and Vader to the site of the battle of the second Deathstar, rather than just shuttling the 2 of them and Luke back to Coruscant or somewhere else to ensure they don’t get caught up in the battle. For as much as he deserves a ton of credit for destroying the Jedi order and toppling the Republic, something no other Sith ever accomplished, he is directly responsible for the Sith’s extinction because of his arrogance.
