I was bummed out enough by Prime 4 being as much of a slog as it was that I've mostly been playing short-ish games. I've been going through the Castlevania collections recently. I never played the DS games before so the Dominus Collection is going to be fun when I get to it.

Aside from that, short bursts of MK World, might start Fantasy Life i soon since I got that in the sale.

Does anyone know a good, affordable 43-inch TV for the Switch 2? My current TV is so old that I need to replace it, but I don’t want to spend too much.

Nintendo interview
https://www.installbaseforum.com/forums/threads/media-create-sales-week-52-2025-dec-22-dec-28.4292/page-4

- How are software sales going?

"Software sales are booming along with the hardware. In addition to Mario Kart World, which was released at the same time as the Switch 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, which was released in July last year, has also become popular, especially overseas. Since then, we have released new Pokemon titles, and our lineup is already diverse. We have received great support from other software publishers. We would like to further enhance our software offerings from 2026 onwards."

You'll have to look into reviews for 120htz TVs whether they work or not. Plus you'll need the right HDMI 2.1 cable. I haven't searched for a new TV in years. But whatever you do: DO NOT buy an Android TV. My brother got an Android TV. It updated and it bricked after 5 years.

>>
>>730538564
Yeah it's fully physical and includes a poster for $50, so that's already on point. Then the game itself feels like Banjo Kazooie crossed with Mario Odyssey, those games are bangers, and thus so is this. You can tell a lot of soul and polish went into making it a good version.

As for Pikmin 4, it's up to you. The game already looks and runs great. It's only disappointing there's no upgrade yet, but as a consolation as little as a month or two ago they updated the game for everyone who owns it, and added a new difficulty mode, a new game +, and some toggleable features. You can't go wrong if you break down and get it now, I did and I'm enjoying it. I suspect there might be a $20 piece of content coming this year because of how odd the game is being handled and how long the development of the games have taken in the past.
>>
>>730538642
It's an okay cable. But I prefer a better made longer cable. I did a quick look at some TVs. It looks like most of the big luxury brands for 120hz are going to be well over $500. We're talking $700-1200. There are some LED TVs that are around $500-600 if you want to make some compromises. Otherwise if you don't care about 120hz gaming you can get a decent 4k TV for under $400.

I reviewed the games that were on NSO, and I think it's actually a really good selection. Most people who are new to the games probably won't bother due to lack of knowledge, but if I didn't have other options available, I'd definitely dive in on NSO emulation. Gamecube games, I think, are still too slow to release.
>What are you playing?
Persona 3, Pokemon Z-A, and Process of Elimination. I'm making reeeeally slow progress in PoE.
>What are you looking forward to?
Not sure, to be honest. I might double dip on some games I have on PC, but I'm really just looking to see what's on the horizon. I'd like some action/arcade games, but all I don't feel like buying Inti Creates titles, and there doesn't seem to be much else.
>eshop sales?
I considered getting Everybody's Golf, but ultimately decided not to. Don't want to double dip yet. Also considered The Last Remnant, but I already got some other JRPGs around that time. I also have 3 other Saga games. Maybe after I finish some, I'll try TLR.

I'm not Nintendo personnel. I'm asking this because I bought a GKC game the other day.
>Would you consider a GKC game purchase and why or why not?
In my case, it was Persona 3. I basically got it at half price, and I knew that I was going to sell/trade it after completing it. I've beaten the original game and just wanted to revisit it. I don't think I'd buy a GKC for a game I wanted to keep long-term. Just doesn't seem beneficial to me. If I can get a GKC at a significant discount, it might be more appealing.
>>
>>730533813

I would take a goykey anyday of the week over the code in box shit or glorified goykey ("here's your 2gb cart, now download the other 18gb of the game as an update goy") we had during the switch 1 era.
Another good thing about GKCs aside from forcing publishers to put a loud and ugly "WE ARE BEING CHEAP KIKES" sticker on the box is how they tend to go on sale and discounts rather quickly, which is nice even if you don't plan on reselling because you have to be insane to buy one for more than 50 bucks tops.

Can we have a solution where you just install the game from the card on your system instead of having to download from an online server someday? I'd like 128 gig cards in the future on top of 32 gig and 16 gig cards.
>>
>>730546150
Only if it's on heavy discount (We're talking $20-30 max). As a concept I despise the things for what they've done to the market and allowed companies like Squeenix and Capcom to cheap out on spending more on physical carts. I would rather they not make these things on GKCs at all and make them solely digital if they're going to force GKCs on us. They're never going to reprint stuff like Bravely Default Remastered for example so may as well buy it for $20 when it hits that low, but Nintendo themselves doing it for Pokopia is inexcusable.

>>730546523
Code-in-a-box is objectively better because you don't have to have a cart in your cartridge slot and it's tied to your account whereas the GKC takes up that slot and has all the negatives of digital and physical with the only benefit being you can resell it. You still have to waste the storage space, still have to rob another game from being in your system, and you can't even share it with as many people as a digital copy.
>>
>>730542803
Like most games, it has some more difficult chapters, but generally it has a consistent level of difficulty. Path of Radiance is probably the second or third easiest game in the series.
>>
>>730546150
>Would you consider a GKC game purchase and why or why not?
I don't mind GKCs since majority of my switch library are digital. The only GKC game I own so far is Persona 3 Reload and it's only because the cart version was cheaper than the digital version during the holiday sales.
>>
>>730546742

>>
>>730546762
>>Code-in-a-box is objectively better because
not even fucking close, stop bootlicking for niggerkike publishers that actively are trying to nickle and dime you with a full price digital game
likewise if said publishers are going to be cheap kikes then they get to cope and seethe about me being a cheap kike and buying their goykey game used or on the bargain bin for peanuts as if it were a steam sale after it inevitably flops due to being a goykey
if they want people to respect their prices and games they should at the bare minimum put the game in-cart, inti could, AAA publishers have no excuse
>>
>>730547169
Compared to GKCs it is, especially if you don't plan on reselling your game. If you don't plan on reselling your game the GKC loses its sole benefit which is that exact thing. Otherwise a GKC is a digital copy that can be destroyed, takes up the same storage space as a digital copy, has the same restrictions as a digital copy, hogs your cartridge slot, and can't be lent out as much as a digital copy can.

I hate paying for air too, don't get me wrong, but digital vs. GKC is nearly all in favor of digital unless you really have to have a physical copy. Price-wise both are ass even if the GKC is dropping heavily more than any normal physical copy because no one wants them.

This argument doesn't work when code in box releases pretty much never went on sale while you can get goykey games for cheap a mere week after release depending on the game.
The resale thing isn't just from (you) to get money, it's from someone else giving you the game for cheap, sometimes cheaper than a steam sale for a similar non-shovelware release.

What Switch do you own? If it's the OLED it's not really a good upgrade outside of better performance at the moment especially if you're on the fence. If it's the original or Lite it's a massive upgrade in terms of build quality, performance, and better Joycons.

The general reason I bought one is because I had the OG Switch 1 and was sick and tired of the terrible performance of games on it (Especially the ones released later on in the lifespan) which the Switch 2 pretty much ironed out entirely and really wanted Pokemon SV to not run at 15 FPS. It actively improves every game you own either through stable framerates or stable dynamic resolutions even if they have no patch, and basically 90% of my library has one of those two as an issue.
Nintendo games keep getting free patches that take advantage of it. Newer games are also releasing where the Switch 1 version is pretty much perfectly stable through the Switch 2 while the Switch 2 version is just a bump to 1080p and maybe 60 FPS if you're lucky.
The UI is also incredibly quick, you have no idea how bad the Switch 1's UI is until you've used the Switch 2. Everything is instant and loads immediately whereas on the Switch 1 just getting into the eShop or NSO menu is like 15-30 seconds of waiting with insanely slow loading times between sections.

The downsides are that it's enormous, it's much bigger than the Switch 1, the screen doesn't look that great, if you play in handheld at all every Switch 1 game looks noticeably bad because they're at 720p or lower (There's no way to make them act docked in handheld) but it's a 1080p screen, the SD Express cards are 2-3x as expensive as normal microSD cards, and you can't take screenshots at 1080p unless it's a Switch 2 game even when docked.

>>730547648
Code in a box games go on sale all the time. Just a few days ago the Mario & Rabbids dual pack went on sale for example for like $10 or $15 and the Lego 2K Racing game is constantly at $15-$20.

>because they very much fucking wouldn't, and nintendo releasing smaller cheaper cart sizes and them still using goykeys proves it
Except R-Type III already did the swap and we've learned from that entire swap that they only just very recently started making them available to third-party devs.

I also don't get how you're not understanding that I would rather devs not release a physical copy at all if it's a GKC if they're going to be cheapskates because I at least get a better deal paying for air as I don't have to sacrifice my cartridge slot to play the same digital copy as a GKC and I can share it to multiple people in my family instead of just one person. I'd rather they do code in a box at that point because I at least get the benefits of a physical discount without all the massive downsides a GKC brings me compared to digital.

Thing is, I had seven years to play and finish all those games with the Switch 1’s shit performance. Jumping to the Switch 2 means rebuying accessories, SD cards, Joy-Cons, all for a “refined” version of the same thing. That’s a downside for me.
I’ll also admit it kind of pisses me off that the Switch 2 feels like what the original Switch should’ve been in the first place. I need a Switch 2 OLED and more actual new games before I even consider making the jump.

>I had seven years to play and finish all those games with the Switch 1’s shit performance.
Well, look at it this way: How many Switch 1 games do you still have to play through? In my case it's like 80ish out of 150ish or so games still left to finish, most of them being short ones I haven't gotten around to. I'd say if more than a third of your library is on Switch 1 unplayed it's probably worth it going forward, or if you have games you finished but never properly finished like a Hyrule Warriors for example it's a massive improvement.
>Jumping to the Switch 2 means rebuying accessories, SD cards, Joy-Cons, all for a “refined” version of the same thing.
There's currently no Joycons worth replacing on the thing, it's all cheap nonsense or the Nitro Deck type stuff. Screen protectors are like $5 for 3 on any Chinese storefront. The SD Express card is the most expensive part, I paid $50 for a 256GB when I bought mine. Unless you plan on buying some sort of grip there's not really much to buy for it at all.

>>730549884
Buy picture related on something like AliExpress. They massive make it feel more like what the system should have released as. I have no idea why they were so afraid of color. There's also button swaps but they make it stand out too much.

I'm not lazy. If I am getting a worse digital copy then why in the world should I put up with the added negatives of a physical copy on top of it for no benefit if I'm not wanting to sell the copy? If I have to deal with every negative of a digital copy but it also takes up my cartridge slot, I can only lend it to one person and I don't even get to play it while I lend it to that person, and it's able to be destroyed or lost then why in the world would I choose that over a digital copy? What benefit am I gaining from it?

The sole reason I would be buying a GKC is because I want a physical copy for my shelf. That's it. It is a bad thing for the market and gaming as a whole because it allows devs to cheap out on proper physical copies of games and justify not making them on proper carts. The devs are going to be shamed anyway for having a code in a box just like they're shamed for having a GKC, but now they can justify making a GKC over a physical because "It's still a physical copy" when it's not and I as a consumer get a significantly worse deal opting for the GKC over the code in a box.

It's just a pointless thing to whine about. Companies have done digital only on PC and other consoles forever, they're never going back. Pass me on code in a box, it's the single worst thing out there. Worse than digital only too.

>>
>>730551324

>>730551096
It's only worse in the sense that you're getting dicked with them going through the effort of making a package that has nothing in it so they put a half-assed effort into making a physical copy.
It's better in the sense that you get the advantage of it being discounted quickly since it has to sit on a store shelf.

Compared to a GKC the code in the box is a proper digital copy with all the positives that come with it (Attached to your account, shared across multiple systems and accounts, and doesn't take up your cartridge slot) with the only negative being you can't sell it. A GKC is worse than a code in a box because they went through the effort in making a cartridge and it's a locked down digital copy instead of a proper digital copy. The only benefit it has at all is that you can resell it. That is the sole positive a GKC provides anyone.

If you are not going to resell your game the GKC has zero benefits over the code in the box. It only has negatives.
It is a digital copy that takes up the same amount of space on your system, can't be reverted to a lower version because digital copies don't let you, takes up your cartridge slot, can't be shared with more than one person or played while you share it, and can be lost, stolen, or broken. I really don't get this assertion that code in a box is worse. How is it worse? If you're not going to sell it I want you to explain how it's worse.
>>
>>730551542
This has been a thing since the nes. Carts are expensive and a major outlay of $ that is not a guarantee of profit especially for 3rd parties. The market has been going full digital for a long time now and other companies have been going mostly digital. Nintendo was the hold out for a long time, but times have changed and the consumer has spoken. Physical is like records and vhs, a niche collector item.
>>
>>730551906
>but times have changed and the consumer has spoken
Physical still makes up a large amount of sales on Playstation, the Insomniac leak outright showed that.
Shuhei said that he doesn't see physical leaving Playstation yet either.
Nitnendo does not seem to want to pivot from physical at all, the GKCs are more to placate third parties.

Physical isn't as dominant as it once was, yes, but at the same time it's necessary for window shopping, gift giving, and "free" advertisement for brands. It would be idiotic for anyone to pivot away from it fully since the console market is not PC and parents want to buy games for their kids, not gift cards.
>>
>>730551542
>It only has negatives.
>actually own your stuff
>easier to use, everybody understands it
>bigger sales because retail/used sales competes
>actually get a box so you got something to collect
If I want a digital only meme box I'd just get a piece of shit PC and pirate everything. I'm not gonna spend any money unless I get my box. Digital only is the true cancer that's killing gaming
>>
>>730552083
>actually own your stuff
You don't own anything on the GKC because there is nothing on the GKC. You are beholden to the exact same digital server as digital copies are to obtain and play your game and do not get access to downpatched versions like a physical copy does. You only "own" it in the sense that you can resell the thing in your hand, but if you don't want to resell it then what? What is your benefit then?
>easier to use, everybody understands it
It's more convenient upfront than a digital copy since you don't have to put anything in, but less convenient because you take up a slot to use it.
>bigger sales because retail/used sales competes
Retail causing price drops is still a thing for CIB. Used is the only thing you miss out on.
>actually get a box so you got something to collect
That's also present with CIB.

Handheld capabilities or because they "feel" like they belong on the system. Certain JRPGs just "feel" correct on Nintendo platforms over Sony for example (DQ as a quick one), monster collectors are for Nintendo systems since Pokemon and all that, Mega Man and Zelda-esque copycats belong on it, etc. If you don't have this kind of mindset then you're not really gonna get this though.

Code in a box IS digital, I have no idea how you're not understanding this. What nintendo said and the specs were about was that directstorage style ultrafast loading times were only on carts 64 and up because adding a memory controller on anything smaller was not financially viable, sizes smaller than that would have to do with normal SDXC load times.
But of course journos and basically everyone ran with the lie that they would only give 64gb carts like how the switch 2 didn't come with a dock, had no internal storage, and the screen had a full third of a second worth of ghosting and input lag.

they did it because they knew they HAD to kill any chance or hope of momentum Nintendo could gain.
Everyone saw the writing on the wall.
If the Switch2 had a huge start Nintendo turns the WHOLE industry into its bitch for at least 8 years.
Possibly 16 or longer.
It's going to be a damn long time until something comes out that can actually put a fight against Nintendo now.
Yuh steam exists and will keep going, but they keep being antijapanese and they'll see a very slow but steady decline. The deck is barely relevant. and a 1000 buck gabecube is beyond dead.
And for a new console maker to pop up they'd need the promise and support of 3rd parties plus at least 4 self made internal exclusives and guarantee of one every 2-3 months for at least 3 years.
It's incredibly difficult to pull off.

Any of the Hyrule Warriors games do split screen.
Kirby Air Riders can do horizontal or vertical split.

So what I'm reading itt, is that the key card shit is mostly a decision deliberately made by third parties because it's cheaper for them that way with faster loading times? If the issue wasn't that the cartridges were 64GB and Nintendo did offer smaller size cartridges, then all the people bitching and moaning were pointing their fingers at the wrong people.

Media and dumb console warriors should know their place. There's nothing they could do to stop the fact that Nintendo has the best gaming platform. GTA 6 on NS2 alone would BTFO away like a smash ultimate move

>And for a new console maker to pop up they'd need the promise and support of 3rd parties plus at least 4 self made internal exclusives and guarantee of one every 2-3 months for at least 3 years.

It's funny to think that Facebook could have invested all those billions into making a few megagames and actually make money instead of losing everything. Sometimes the smarter move is just to make money instead of trying to dominate an entire industry

It's really damn solid.
If you like Bayonetta or MGS Revengence you'll enjoy Astral Chain.
It only got negative opinions due to being a tad choppy/pixelated on the based Switch, sorta like XBC2. Plus it is very much a 'cop sim + demon restrainer' game. You'll go from intense high action in combat to 'please help me find my lost dog/kid officer' or 'yuh that last terror attack messed up town help us move supplies/fix broken objects' etc.
So some people didn't enjoy the slower beat cop sections. I find it a nice break and a good way to tie in narrative and gameplay. Plus you can just choose to not do those extra missions if you so feel like it, you'll just be unable to S+ that file/chapter if so, plus lose out on some rewards.
My biggest issue is you basically can't hard save once you leave Police HQ, so you need to 'endure' a 2-4 hour chapter without a manual save and rely on the fair frequent auto saves.

The combat is incredibly limited at first.
I don't even think your legion can chain pull you until you first enter the Astral Plane...which is mission two (or technically 1 pending how you want to count the intro chapter...though you do need to rerun it later for a few things for 100%).
SO I don't fully blame you. But once the combat comes together its pure sex.

Eh I dunno, AC has a much slower pace. Big example is at the beginning where monsters are fucking up the city, you go from the super crazy tunnel shootout into slowly helping civilians into a ambulance helicopter. There's also a lot of roaming the streets dealing with relatively mundane tasks like arresting thugs or investigating a crime scene. I personally enjoy the fuck out of the game, but I dunno if I'd recommend it to just any action fan.

God I wish Nintendo would incentivize devs to do Switch 2 versions.
Dark Souls ran at a pretty solid 60 on Switch 1 with overclocking, the 2 would be able to handle it at 60 and 1080p handheld easily. Handheld Dark Souls is fucking great and I don't want to get a Steam Deck again. sold my LCD because I ended up still using my Switch more years back

From has literally no reason to go back and release an upgrade though.

Same with shit like Pizza Tower. It looks like ass in handheld mode because it's 720p on a 1080p screen.

So Salad Fingers needs a diagonal slash.
Bug needs vertical.
Dog needs horizontal.

Sirius is horizontal
Astertes is vertical.
Titty goddess is horizontal. And i posted early asteres killing the horse witch above as example for that.

I also have all the xenoblades but I've had multiple instances in the past where I tried to play xenoblade chronicles 1 and my save got deleted and I want to play them in order but I'm annoyed at starting xenoblade 1 again

Salaryman Shi I think it 10 bucks or less. It's made by a fellow /v/ anon.
A platformer in the vein of mario though a bit more technical and challenging.
Vividlope MIGHT also be 10 or less but I can't recall. /v/ made game about a bunny that has to flip tiles to his color. a decent puzzler/score attack game
>>
>>730570775
How the fuck did your xenoblade save get deleted? You don't even have a cloud back up?
Though with those as the options.....I'd go Brothership, 3d World, TotK, or Bananza for comfy easy to enjoy gaming.
Astral Chain and Bayo can get stressful due to score hunting/going for perfects.
Mario kart and air riders depends on how tweaked you get by bs online.
never played frontiers so no remark.

>xenoblade save didn't transfer. had to start over again and was too burnt out to start again
I had made it as far as the noppon village and melia in the jungle. I think I had rikki in my party too.
Maybe I should just start it again now that I have access to it on switch

>On another note would people recommend Rabi Ribi?
oh yeah I've played that and highly recommend. it can be quite challenging but its a very fun game. Both for the bullet hell boss fights and the extensive explorable map and fun movement.
The game has achievements for things like "beating the game without picking up the main attack method" or "beating the game areas in a backwards order" as an example for how much you can sequence break. Soundtrack is extremely good and the art is just cute anime girls.
I love metroidvanias and honestly rabi ribi blows the popular ones like hollow knight and ESA out of the water for me.

You don't need to pay for NSO to download a GCK wtfh are you on lad?
>>
>>730573789
You need to be able to access Nintendo's servers to get your copy at all. Because it's a digital copy. I never said you had to pay for NSO, I said you need Nintendo's permission to even get the game.
>>
>>730573916
You also don't need a nintendo account to download goykey games either
>>
>>730573916
You can't download patches or GKCs, you can only download system firmware, and the whole point here is that GKCs need access to Nintendo's servers period to even obtain them at all because they're digital copies, there's nothing on the cart.
https://youtu.be/MqFY3rICDWs?t=438

We also know that Switch 2 versions will not even open up on a banned Switch 2 unless you downloaded the update before you got banned.

Again, did I ever say you couldn't download the game without an account? I said you need access to Nintendo's servers to get access to your game at all. Which isn't something that has to be done with a physical copy meaning your GKC is a digital copy with extra steps.
The banned thing was what the other guy was talking about and I responded to it.
>>
>>730574541
You're still pretending as if GKCs are not equivalent to digital copies just because you can sell them ignoring the fact you are wholly reliant on Nintendo to even obtain the game in the first place unlike a physical copy. You are buying a digital copy with extra steps and less options. You are not gaining a consumer-friendly option at all, you are gaining the new normal for physical copies. Hope you're happy ruining physical copies for all of us.

I have absolute faith we'll see smaller or long ignored IPs now.
Nintendo had huge expansions and hirings.
You don't start your new console on DK, Kirby Air Riders, and Yoshi. all barely touched IPs, and not have plans for that shit to keep going.
F-Zeroo99 WILL be the Federation Force of it's series. Meaning a harmless nothing spin-off to drum up attention in the IP and get people to try it out before dropping semi consistant main entries (given F-zero's nature likely once per console).
Wario will likely escape the Ware Hell he is in.
Maybe new Kid Icarus or Ice Climbers.

>Physical is dying BECAUSE of code in box shit
Why in the world do you think I think code in a box is good? I think it's a better option compared to GKCs and only GKCs specifically. Companies now have the option between physical copies, digital but with extra steps (GKCs), and digital (Code in a box and digital) when before the only options were physical copies and digital.
>this is a step towards dragging the industry back to physical
Okay, walk me through the steps here because your thought process makes no sense.
>Developers previous only had the option of physical and digital.
>Now they have the option to have a physical digital copy.
>Everyone has started to opt for making physical digital copies to save money instead of physical when, if a GKC never existed, they would have been forced to choose between physical or digital with no chance to consider a GKC and would have to eat the loss making the physical.
You are saying that "this is a step towards dragging the industry back to physical" by making 70% of the copies of games out there digital (GKC) will get devs to go back to physical why exactly? They're just perpetually going to make GKCs, will say no one wants physical copies because no one is buying GKCs, and then stop making physical copies.

>and avoid blaming kike third parties when the blame is rightfully theirs
Except I'm blaming both Nintendo and the third-parties. Nintendo for designing GKCs at all granting third-parties the ability to even perceive it as an option thus killing the standard physical copy as an option for companies to even consider. Third-parties for being cheap assholes.
>you think devs out of the kindness of their hearts would actually release games fully in cart?
Considering we literally have both DoesItPlay and a community run spreadsheet that shows for the most part physical copies contain the whole game: Yes.
>FOR FULL PRICE
When did I ever say you pay full price for it anywhere in this thread? I said it goes on sale just as often as GKCs do except now you gain significantly more options than a GKC while having the same limitations as a GKC. Literally the only difference between a GKC and a code in a box is that you can resell the GKC, that's it. When that stops being something you consider doing then there is no benefit to a GKC whatsoever to the end user. If I am not going to resell or give away my GKC in the future then having purchased a digital copy gives me the same experience as a GKC down to forcing the thing on my storage except now I don't have a tumor in my cartridge slot and can play actual physical games I purchased on top of it.

>and putting a big and ugly disclaimer on the boxes that use it.
They literally already had a gigantic disclaimer on the box on the Switch for codes in boxes. There is no difference with GKCs, the GKC banner is even smaller than on Switch 1.
>No shit if you ignore THE thing that makes a night and day difference there's not much else to argue about.
and if you don't ignore that one thing you have all the downsides of digital and physical wrapped in one package with none of the benefits of digital and only one single benefit of physical (You can sell it). It's a bum deal for everyone but developers because anyone who wants a physical copy now gets pushed into the GKC lane because developers will cheap out as already shown by how many companies have adopted the format whereas you and I both know they would have been forced into the actual physical copies at their expense to keep up shelf space and passive marketing.

>>730575771
I'd prefer they buy actual physical copies but if they're dead set on digital then what's the issue here? They get a significantly cheaper deal on the air they're willing to purchase. The only ones screwed are the publishers and Nintendo and do you think I'm going to shed a tear over either? I don't think we should have digital storefronts at all, I don't think they should exist period and ownership should return to the consumer again, not this nonsense of being tied to the hip to an online service just to obtain or manage games.
>>
>>730575919
I don't think you realize by putting a name on the grift and forcing those games to flop unless they have massive brand recognition (and even then still cutting into the profits) nintendo is still forcing to release their games physically proper.
Without goykeys code in box shit would have been normalized even further until physical releases stop existing altogether, and you can hardly call this tinfoil hat shit when it's literally what steam used to kill PC physical game ownership and what xbone tried to do but killed itself in the process.
>>
>>730576012
>shit would have been normalized even further
It already wasn't being normalized on the Switch 1 to begin with. The only ones even doing it were some Switch 1 games that already had physical copies like Mario + Rabbids, 2K sports games, some Activision games (Which are also the same situation with no data on the disks on PS4 for example), and a few Capcom and Squeenix games but only in western regions like Mega Man Legacy Collection part 2 or FFX-2. Nintendo themselves printed physical copies of Bayonetta 1 years after Bayonetta 2 came out with the digital copy pack in when Bayonetta 3 was coming out.

I have zero understanding how you think making it so the only physical copy you can buy is a glorified digital copy instead of a proper physical copy because the dev refuses to shell out for a physical copy and then consumers not purchasing said glorified digital copy is going to "save physical gaming" when all it does is show devs they don't want to buy physical copies at all anymore by ignoring the GKCs. It outright furthers the push into digital because you're not buying GKCs, which means you don't want physical copies according to developers, which means digital only now.

The GKC's existence actively harms the physical space and only benefits developers. They are the only ones seeing any benefit of this at all because they can cost cut instead of releasing a proper physical copy and then use low sales of GKCs to justify no one wanting physical copies because they view them as physical copies.
>>
>>730576171
tldr?
>>
>>730576197
GKCs failing means devs view it as physical dying so they have no reason to continue making more "physical" copies when normal physical copies would have still been purchased at normal rates before this due to no controversy.
People do not want GKCs because it's a digital copy with extra steps instead of a physical copy.
The existence of GKCs actively harms the physical space and furthers us into a digital future because no one wants to buy them due to what they are.
>>
>>730576171
>The GKC's existence actively harms the physical space and only benefits developers.
Poor goykey sales say otherwise.
>They are the only ones seeing any benefit of this at all because they can cost cut instead of releasing a proper physical copy and then use low sales of GKCs to justify no one wanting physical copies because they view them as physical copies.
They can have fun selling digital-only games with the lack of "physical space adverting" (read: shelf space on retailers for impulse buyers) that entails, I would love to see them try.
>>730576316
>GKCs failing means devs view it as physical dying so they have no reason to continue making more "physical" copies when normal physical copies would have still been purchased at normal rates before this due to no controversy.
Do please tell publishers to continue doing that, I want to see them crash and burn further.
>>
>>730576397
>Poor goykey sales say otherwise.
You are literally missing the forest for the trees here. Poor GKC sales reflects on the physical market as no one wanting physical copies anymore. Developers are not considering the fact that it's the GKC's fault and them being cheapskates, they're considering GKCs are the physical market. When a GKC fails it shows that no one wants physical games.

How are you not able to conceptualize this issue? The mere existence of GKCs actively harm the physical space and justify developers trying to stop making physical copies.
>>
>>730576471
Even shareholders can only ignore a gorillion "NOBODY WANTS GOYKEYS, THEY ARE NOT REAL PHYSICAL SALES" jewtube videos and twitter posts for so long anon, and ironically enough NDSfags only help this by spreading paranoia about "switch 2 third parties not selling".
And yes it matters to even the braindead SE shareholders that are asking heads on plates and for them to drop snoy and focus on what originally made FF good.

the only exception i can personally think of is that one konami idol game which they did on a shoestring budget and in like 6 months to have a switch 2 launch title

I don't believe we have actual sales data but it's reflected in how quickly the prices on them are dropping compared to the normal games (Many of them are on $20-$30 discounts already while even stuff like Cyberpunk is at full price) and you have some of the more niche Japanese companies having a harder time getting them out of their storefronts compared to Switch 1 editions like I believe I said earlier with NIS.

Beat Yooka-Replaylee 100% on Switch 2 recently, it was a good time.
Only real complaint is that the pagie pieces are a pain in the ass to find and there's no help system to help track them down.
The 30 FPS actually runs very well, good frame pacing and responsive controls, compared to many other 30 FPS Switch games that have bad input delay (primarily Unity games).

I'm currently playing through Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D (Switch version in performance mode) and just got to Alltrades Abbey after about 12 hours of play.

The problem with just asking "a good JRPG" is that it says nothing on what you even want.
Forget stuff like how I don't care about rollslop like dark souls but I get addicted to disgaea grinding despite both being RPGs made in japan and thus JRPGs, even within the same series I loved D5 but fucking loathed D6, just like how people can hate sekiro but love elden ring.
You list basically tells me nothing beyond the fact you tried a random assortment of fairly mainstream games.

Is Age of Imprisonment worth it?
I played and kind of enjoyed Age of Calamity but the story sucked especially at the end, and there were a lot of grindy missions.

Not really a big fan of musous in general but I heard AoI is different, feels more directed and less grindy. Is it true? I only want to get it now because Aonuma said the next mainline Zelda game will be inspired by elements in Age of Imprisonment.
Oh and I don't really care about roster crap, I don't need 50 unique playable characters

Disgaea is still more called a tactical RPG in Japan iirc but I get what you mean anyway. On a similar note, I like pre-Ryza Atelier games while Ryza herself was the worst thing in existence to me.
It depends if the anon is looking ultimately looking for something you play in a grid (Fire Emblem, Banner of the Maid, Disgaea, FF Tactics, Live a Live) or something more turn-based with 3 ~ 4 niggas in a row (Pre-Ryza Atelier, Touhou Dream in Arcadia, SMT Vengeance)
>>
>>730578916
>good jrpg, good story and good combat, not being easy af.
Usually when someone complains about JRPGs being too easy, they're not going to be satisfied with anything in the genre. Most JRPGs are pretty standard difficulty unless they come with difficulty modes that inflate stats. I can't really help you there, if you want to really be challenged. You could get The Last Remnant or something when it goes on sale again. That has a learning curve to it. You might as well play Wizardry or something if you care that much about difficulty.

>>730579865
The main criticisms I see is that a lot of playable characters are insignificant to the story and just kind of serve as placeholders. The actual game seems to be pretty good, though.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined has custom difficulty settings where you can change the strength of your party and enemies, the amount of XP / money gained, etc. which is pretty cool instead of the regular "Hard mode = bullet sponge enemies + heavier grind" in JRPGs. But I don't know if there are other titles in this genre that allow the ability to customize the difficulty.

bananza and prime 4 were pretty fun but I'm not playing anything on my switch 2 atm. just waiting for a direct with some announcements right now
>>
>>730587765
Yeah, I've got trade-in credit, but I'm waiting on something I actually want to buy. I wish I could use discount coupons on digital goods.
>>730587845
No Switch games to fall back on?
>>
>>730587891
I only replay games once a decade so no, not really. I don't regret getting a switch 2 or anything but yeah I'm just waiting for more games at this point
>>
>>730587986
I was more suggesting that maybe there was something that you might pick up in the meantime. Fair enough, though. I'd like to see what's going to be released in the future myself.
>>
>>730588140
yeah I got that but I just wasn't really in the mood to replay anything from the switch 1 atm
>>
>>730565768
I won't forgive Square Enix for sucking Sony's cock for so long, and unapologetically. But if you're a beta simp that welcomes whores after they are old and busted and suddenly want to settle down, then do you, not a mindset I will ever share.
>>
Bump
>>
>>730590753
At least their cock sucking is over it looks like.

I'm still playing Buccanyar. Shame about the translation because there's a pretty good ship combat JRPG underneath here

you cared enough to reply

I have no idea what you're rambling about but Sony saved SE when they were in trouble and they are the only option to acquire SE.
Nintendo will never ever be the good guy.

Didn't the footage at TGS show that it runs at 60fps?
Watch it on YouTube. It might also be 40fps with VRR because it can look like 60fps captured on camera.
>>
>>730592412
I tried to send an email to Capcom, asking if the Switch 2 ports of Resident Evil would support joycon mice but I got the typical reply of "we can't disclose anything that hasn't been officially revealed"
It was however confirmed in a japanese interview that Pragmata wouldn't support joycon mice, which is unfortunate.
>>
>>730592398
Nintendo will always be the good guy, stay seething and coping tranny.
>>
>>730529935
I want replayee so bad but i cant justify the 30fps
>>
>N-Nintendo is the good guy!!!
Maybe on planet goy.
>>
>>730573409
Absolutely. With the backlog of the original Switch and the performance of the Switch 2, you really get a bang for your buck.

Do it. The weakest entry of the Switch line-up is Star Allies and that's still fun. Ranking by must-have
>Forgotten Land
>Air Riders
>Return to Dreamland HD
>Dream Buffet
>Fighters 2
>Star Allies
>Clash (you don't need this one)

He doesn't need those either
The online for both is completely dead

How do you mess up a GBC clone?
>>730599819
Fair enough. Though Dream Buffet on a sale is at least a try.

Baten kaitos BOTW and a lil splatfest and Mario kart in between stayed half buzzed on blended scotch and cranberry gingerale all weekend probably try to sober up later today
>>
>>730600051
Could be they're just mismanaged. Isle of Reveries is developing incredibly well with an insanely smaller budget and like one guy working on it. It also just looks better in general.

Just finished Prime 4. As much as I enjoyed it, fucking hell, they really fucked it up. Serious letdown. One has to wonder how bad it was, so they had to reboot the development twice.

>looking forward to
MonHun Stories 3. But I will probbaly get the Switch 1 version, fuck fake carts.

>eShop sale
Nuthin. I even skipped Steam sale.

That looks really interesting.

Oh come on! Well, it supports engrish, so maybe I will, can't be worse than official troonslations.

This is pretty normal, especially at this point. Most of the more niche games are only getting physicals in Asia or Japanese English releases. Quick recent example is Miasma Breaker.

>>730602548
I agree, but I'm not that hardcore. I think the answer is to just do self-imposed challenges.
>>730602795
I was considering picking that game up, but it honestly doesn't look that interesting.

Start learning japanese and changing your region to JP to buy from the JP eshop.
