Unfortunately, since it is early access and fan-funded pandering to fans will inevitably happen. All the streamer-related stuff in the game and 'in jokes' and everything are arguably worse for the detrimental effect on the overall quality, but have probably brought in a lot more downloads and donations.

The latest update is very much broken and unstable, Nose has acknowledged that and has moved it to a "shadow build" section of the website while clarifying it's pretty much for bug testing only. I wouldn't recommend it in its current state, bugs aside the new controls are even worse, and the new mechanic where you can't eat too much of the same food at once makes it unnecessarily difficult to get rid of hunger. I like the new minigames and other gameplay additions, but overall as it stands I'd just stick to the latest stable build.

I've played the latest shadow test for a while now and the new signal system is pretty great. No more early game bullshit of RNG failing to find four signals in a row. I follow this flowchart, if you can call it that

>press 3 to make cursor/color #3 automatically fly over to your current location
>press alt to switch to cursor/color #3 and move that one over manually

I've missed maybe three signals in total because they disappear, but have yet to get "weak or no signal detected" when scanning. Making them consistent and unable to fail was an amazing change, you just need to get adjust to the way it works.
The fuse system seems pretty awful but I haven't had a tower go down yet and I'm at day 16. Not sure if its due to the newest shadow build making it less likely or if my random upgrades made the towers reliable.

version 9 is bumming me out. new drone sucks ass, no more free scrap wood from crates while it wakes me each night causing krampus to spawn since im not asleep because drone, posters dont show on doors anymore, no mods,ugly older atv, and signels are even more of a pain in the ass ment for late game.
