Geb defeats alephs because Geb is The Strongest. Lobcorp did say awfully little about her. That she was from the Backstreets, defended her people, and then manifested 2 EGO. We later learn in Library that the baseline for colors is being at least a grade 1 level fixer, but that their color designation means they bring along something powerful in one way or another that's not directly tied to their combat effectiveness.

I forgot the details about Verg's color designation. Something with his eyes being able to see a path to the future, on top of EGO and his strength.

Regardless, Geb had none of the additional strengths. Just one woman, so ridiculously powerful she got the merit of Color based on that, and being regarded as the strongest of them all.
What I'm trying to say is that Gebura is an outlier adn should not be the benchmark for power, being it's zenith. An aleph under deterrence can probably be a worthwhile exercise for a nursefather. An aleph without any qiploth deterrence? Who knows really. All we know is that Geb would be able to handle that, but that really doesn't tell us much.

Yeah, I know. I just assumed the same happened to Ambling Pearl so this turn of events meant it wouldn't still be a match to high-grade fixers. This also reminds me, but when we visit the abnormality worlds and fight them there in the Mirror Dungeon, are they still under some form of deterrence? I know it's a simulation but I expected no involvement of that, especially in abnormalities not encountered outside of the bus, like Alleyway Watchdog and Headless Ichthys, that wouldn't have their fight be based on some previous experience the sinners had in their journey to collect Golden Boughs like the first fight with Elbony Queen's Apple, that always fought as if she was still affected by a good amount of deterrence afterwards.

I think that's enough additional strengths since her combat prowess could also allow her to draw out the ''true potential'' of E.G.O like Binah once said.
Sure, she already had experience as a fixer with enough mental fortitude and force of will to use her later gear, but said gear was the reason she earned the title and reputation as the strongest. Normal Workshop stuff wouldn't have stopped the attack in that lab even in her hands (although Garion also played a part in her own downfall by being stupid).
But yes, she's so busted that we can't even use her as a comparison due to everything she managed to do as Kali.

Kromer doesn't need to continue to exist and be a constant presence because Demian is the one who should be the driving force of Sinclair's character growth. The main problem right now is that Sinclair and Demian haven't interacted at all since the end of Canto 3 and Sinclair as a character is still the child version of his book counterpart instead of the teenage delinquent or the Abraxas obsessed young man that have their own conflicts that haven't been touched upon.

I have nothing against forced losses if there's still an actual boss fight behind. Lei Heng was fine because you still have to chunk through 3/4s of his HP to win. The Pinky nursefather on the other hand was barely a fight to begin with and was getting her ass beat before the cutscene played. Sora is even worse once you realize that it's not an actual boss fight but a glorified cutscene as you wait for Vespa to bail you out after a couple turns.

I really wish they'd do away with that mechanic and return to the Canto 6 approach where you have to protect your VIP from being killed otherwise you lose the fight.

If you play Limbus, what kind of teams do you normally use for the story mode, anons? Do you deploy powerful themed-like teams like the Heishou or Bloodfiends to do quick work? Do you prefer to go with thematic ones like Nagel and Hammer and 7 Association? Only strong IDs that don't need cooperation of others sinners to be good?
I'm asking because I've been using the same slightly functional Season 1-3 team since forever to not make things ''too easy'' but the difference of skills from that period of time and now is really starting to show up. So I'm curious with how you continue to play the game.

Sinking all the way, or actually maybe not because it makes things WAY too easy against sanity. If you want a good fight you might not want to bring sinking. Although you can thank director for unbreakables so you'll still get to see enemy animations you missed.

I'll try to target what they're weak to. Try things out the first turn to check weaknesses, then decide if it's worth restarting with a better team. I think the most fun team in these situations is pride. But rupture (heishou) is safe to use even if the enemy resists slash attacks.
Something to note: The enemies in a story are more often than not weak to the same damage types new IDs deal, so it's easier to know what to use even on your first time.

These days if I"m doing thematic teams with stuff from early season is when I'm doing regular MD run

I generally use the strong ID's that don't quite get to shine normally. For example using the N-corp Ryoshu & Yi Sang duo this canto since you can reliably do their combo move. Also Allen Gregor has been performing well, and it's nice to see his The Night's Awl attack trigger.

Did use this team for the Dihui Star fight, with the idea of "player with questionable rolls can still clear." KoD Rodion, the "support unit from a friend" carried, make no mistake, but more 30% dmg contributed, rather than 70%+.

I just came back from a long break and my account didn't have much to begin with, so I just caught up on the story with the same scrappy team I got through the rest with. Jia Mu took me 30 turns even though it was the easiest fight in Canto VIII.

Usually I just use whatever status ID team I feel like + whatever ID I have leveled up for the main sinner. Last canto was a burn team with Reindeer Hong Lu. This canto I went with a bleed-tremor team using Finger and Finger subsidiary IDs + N Corp Ryoshu but so far that's meant that the team is N Corp Ryoshu, Ringsang, Caposault, and Allengor.
