What dynasty warriors game has the best Yellow Turban stage?

Dynasty Warriors 6, no doubt. Perfect mix of "obvious early game level" and "Actually having some replay value".

DW2 and DW3 come close though. I probably enjoyed DW3 the most but that's almost entirely from the Voice acting(Though the stage itself is also really strong).

DW6 has great stages in general, shame about the weightless, floaty combat that ruins the game.

For me it's 3. 5 is pretty good but a little small. Origins is great with the big final charge between the two armies at the end, but im not a fan of the magic gimmicks that only the player can deal with.
>>
QUESTION: Do they freeze a lake and does that actually influence the battle?

If YES
This game
ELSE
Not this game
>>
8's is pretty good, its very expansive for an early game map with lots of side areas

Origins and duel against chinese jesus

origins decision to really focus on the early parts of the story was a really good idea imo, allowed for those iconic moments to breathe

>DW6 has great stages in general
It's pretty amazing how hard 7 ruined them despite literally being the same stages like 80% of the time.

>5 is pretty good but a little small.
Yeah, it's a fun stage but it really suffers from being a 60 minute stage rather than 90.

7 gutten the battle sim elements fully embraced the linear, scripted stage designs that 8 also used.

Part of what made 6's stages good was that the officers had light Empires style freedom - while they'd follow a general route they could deviate. i.e on one playthrough they might move to attack an officer or base, on another go at the stage they might head to a completely different base to attack it, or hold position at a current base to heal themselves.

It was the only mainline DW game to have these Empires style freedoms for officers, so it helped make the stages feel more dynamic in terms of how they played out.

7 was the game they decided to invest fully in the cinematic experience of the story mode more than the in-game storytelling. most dw fans will tell you 7 has the best telling of the story, and i'd maybe agree (outside of origins), but the maps are really disappointing
>>
i cant play 8 anymore
the rock paper scissors bullshit ruins the flow of mowing down 5000 dudes
>>
they should divide dynasty warriors into two separate games. one thats more flashy and focused on the over the top action and another thats more grounded and focused on battlefield tactics and proper stratagems
>>

I agree 7 did the story telling well. I find it and 8 to have very boring gameplay though, the stages are simply too scripted and don't feel like army vs army battles.

so in other words DW and DW: Empires, but with Empires being more grounded/realistic.
