Had to be one of the worst GDQ's ever. The constant trans righs shoutouts and all the gay mods for games adding tranny shit to them just made most of this event unwatchable. And as always there was way to many shitty pokemon runs.
The only way to save GDQ at this point is to free chat and unban everyone. Turn off sub-only mode and only bring the hammer down for people who actually deserve it. Watching old VODs with chat enabled shows a night and day difference compared to what we have now.That will never happen though. Across all of Twitch, literally every channel has open chat to some degree except Games Done Quick. To paraphrase adef last night, "If your worldview conflicts with ours, educate yourself!" In other words, they're too stubbornly invested leftism to care that the chat is dead and this is what's killing the event itself.The silver lining to this is that as GDQ reaches new lows once thought impossible, other small events will keep chugging along. They might not be all that interesting to watch, but there's dozens of them and in a few days it will be back to back with BSG, ASM, RPGLM and UKSG all leading into ESA. Support those events instead, even if it just means putting the stream on a second monitor while you do other stuff.

the actual quality of speedruns wasnt really that much higher in the early years. in fact, modern GDQ's actually had STRICTER requirements for estimates, partly for scheduling reasons, than the old ones. that said this year was notably the worse one in a while as far as estimates go.
