You might want to play system shock 2, bioshock is its successor, however SS2 is an open world, not in the sense of the modern openworlds (ubisoft, rockstar, CDPR games..etc...) but open regardless. If that thought is fine with you then you should definitively play Prey (2017) as well.

Dishonored (and It's expansion pack)and Arx Fatalis are also good as people suggested. For arx fatalis you need an easy to install mod (arx libertatis) Dark Messiah of might and magic is the pinnacle of what I'd call "linear exploration" design) the webm attached is the gameplay I'd also recommend Prey (2017) but it's troon coded. Prey (2006) is amazing but to set it up you read the comments on myabandonware where the game is hosted it's pretty easy. Like setting the right compatibility mode.
