I haven't played Rebirth yet, but I've played Remake. I loved Remake purely for some of the moments, but I wasn't a fan of the game as a whole. There were certain boss battles, moments between characters, etc. that were pure kino and made me love the game more than the original. I also love the new battle system, I think it's brilliant.Yet the more I think about it, it drives me crazy that the entire game is just Midgar. It's no longer just a simple opening arc to the game. There is so much padding like the ridiculous two hour long train graveyard and other nonsense. And then the random NPCs that don't fit in with the game's atmosphere at all.FF7R has some fun moments and a great battle system, but that's about it. As a whole, FF7 is a much more complete and satisfying experience.
