>TOASTERZ!!! xDDD

What is your excuse for this pile of dogshit NViggers? This is by far WORSE than the fucking Fallout TV show.

Just transition already you'd be so much happier

Dilate
>>
>/v/eddit unironically likes it
>>
>>730622405
1. It's a sidequest DLC with little to no bearing on the plot of New Vegas or even Fallout as a whole, it's just a romp around Heckin Scienceland and isn't shoehorned into every aspect of Fallout. The TV show is adamant about asserting itself as Fallout canon and ruins every important faction possible (NCR, Brotherhood, Vault-Tec, New Vegas, Legion, etc)
2. The goofiness of Old World Blues is so over the top stupid it wraps around to being funny/enjoyable
>>
>>730622405
It's a funny DLC and I really liked it. Maybe you should play something more suitable to your tastes.

There were interesting ideas in this DLC, it should have been executed better and whoever wrote it should have been fired

Most of the DLC is pretty cool after you get past the retarded opening of it (and presuming you shut off all the AIs like the sink tells you to). Poking around abandoned science labs with failed out of control experiments is peak post apocalyptic fiction
I wish they made it so the stealth suit also didn't talk though and the high school experiment was fucking horrid

This was very on point in the late 00s, early 10s, when NV and its DLCs came out. Its very painful nowadays though. Aside from all the lol so randumb xD humour, OWB is still pretty good with lots of the labs and equipment being fun.

>how NV absolutely breaks the minds of /v/
The general consensus is that it is a good game. However there are a number of people/groups that hate and do nothing but try to bring it down. You have the the shitalian schizo who has been chimping out over it for eight years, you have the shartyniggers that copy him and spam his retarded teeth edits, and then you have the jeets Bethesda hires to shill their shit that also copy the schizo as well as push their own brand of retardation. The jeets aren’t always here but given that S2 of the show is still going they have been going in full force on here and /tv/.

It's 100% 1950's B movie science fiction. I see nothing wrong with it. The whole thing with Big Mountain was out-of-the-box questioning and testing it to be used for military purposes.

No there was a chill one yesterday, mainly because it wasn’t obvious that it was an NV thread. No one really likes 3 or 4 it’s all just contrarian, bait, thinly veiled NV hate, or coomer shit. However an NV threads without the retards is just talking about the game. See https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/730488952/

I still think it's amusing. Not for quite the same reasons as I did years ago, though.
What bothers me is that people get hung up on only a couple particular jokes and that somehow drowns out all of the rest of the writing, and even the other jokes.
It all feels so surface level. Every time someone complains, it's about the exact same thing, the exact same line.

It's the same issues as Fallout 2 discourse.
Like yeah, Fo2 has some tonal issues, and its comedy is far too reference heavy.
yet at the same time, I doubt if someone picked up Fo2 for the first time today they'd be able to actively call out most references unless they were expressly told which lines were references.
Nobody actually experiences games on their own anymore. It goes beyond just parroting opinions from youtube/reddit/4chan/whatever, it's more that their ENTIRE experience with a game is no longer a solitary one. They play with other people, they religiously follow guides and playthroughs the entire time they pour over posts and comments. They NEED to have their opinions outright formed and created by other people, not merely influenced and certainly never discussed.

The humor was fitting for the time. It was a less serious DLC that heavy handedly played on the midnight science fiction theater trope, like mothership zeta did for fallout 3. The actual gameplay/quest was decent-ish, but the theme was a product of its time, and for its time it was fun.

Lonesome Road is so fucking weird. Trying to act like Ulysses is your fated rival when you have never interacted with the guy once and expects you to feel anything over a sudden backstory stapled on to your self insert blank slate mc. It just doesn't make sense even from a conceptual standpoint.

I thought it was a nice bit of old person fiction
You make it into the stronghold and he's just an old man. Waddling around in his dark, messy house, eating his meds and slowly wasting away, like a normal grandpa whose family abandoned him or somesuch circumstance
I'd reached the point where i was over the whacky dialogue, and it was an excellent rugpull for my annoyance to not have an actual target anymore. He was barely culpable in anything
>>
>>730633478
Can't you tell him repeatedly that you have no idea who he and make him go schizo?
>>
>>730626134
The issue is that OWB was written for the specific archetype of nerd who'd be like "Oh damn they got Doc Venture" and knew who Gerry Anderson is, but this was at an era where that nerd's general jurisdiction was being gentrified by what would in just a couple years become the Rick & Morty flavor of nerd and as a result people tend to conflate the two and OWB gets a worse rap than it really warrants.
>>
>>730622405
When I played it in 2011, I hated it. I didn't give a fuck about the writing. I tried it again in 2014 I thought it was unfunny reddit humor still.

I played it last year and I enjoyed it a lot more. OWB definitely contrasts Dead Money, and Honest Hearts, I think if you play DM or HH then jump straight into OWB You're gonna just be pissed the fuck off. I'm also in my 30s now so it could be my braincells are beginning to commit mass suicide and I'm dumber. I liked it because it's purely ridiculous like in a comic book sort of way, just try to relax when you play it. There's not much stakes, and it's lighthearted, if you aren't in the right mood then you're probably going to hate it a lot.

>This is by far WORSE than the fucking Fallout TV show.
No its not, there's a whimsical feeling to Old World Blues, it knows it doesn't mean much to the greater idea of Fallout. The TV show is entirely lackadaisical, while trying to push a lot of grand choices and push the timeline forward for the entire series.Comedy wise, it's comedy is so safe you can't even identify it as "millenial" or cringey, it's entirely corporate mainstream, you just "heh...." at some bullshit a character said, and its never memorable.
>>
>>730633502
happy for you
>>
I get a headache playing that dlc in particular
>>
>>730633478
My bigger with Lonesome Road is it's barely ever a road. If it were a more directly "road"-like format where all the crazy shit was off to the side and fully optional and not an increasing series of wacky death traps you HAVE to go through, it'd feel like a lonesome road. Instead, it's not lonesome at all, you're surrounded by things that constantly want you dead in an environment so hostile it borderlines on cartoonish. There's a point where you get through a tunnel with a deathclaw that gets mauled by the tunnelers as an introduction and you think well that's the big incoming threat then and then you get out and you're now on an overpass full of fucking deathclaws and landmines. At that point it becomes apparent the DLC is not designed as a coherent narrative location but instead an amusement park ride intentionally full of OSHA violations.

Dr. Mobius is actually the true hero of OWB. His actions of putting his colleagues in a loop and casting himself as the "Villain" to keep them trapped in the think tank were the only thing keeping the Think Tank from turning outward and visiting unspeakable horrors. Look up the cut ending where you side with the Think Tank and unleash them on the world to see what would have been happening already if not for Dr. Mobius' sacrifice.

The apocalypse itself pales in comparison. Quite literally, none of the stories of the previous fallout games would have happened at all, at least not the way they went down. Vault Dweller? His vault would have been cracked open by robots and turned into an experiment, a control vault is a waste of subjects after all. Chosen one? Never exists, the entire core region would have been one great mad science experiment anyway. They probably would have spread across the entire country, world even, had he not stopped them.

>>730634217
>call it lonesome road
>there's a DLC bot companion the entire time
>>
>>730634217
I mean that sounds pretty lonesome to me. Everybody and everything wants you dead and the only real companion you have is a robot who talks in beep boops and this one guy who screams at you in Bear and Bull. The friendly to hostile ratio is like 1:50
>>
>>730634429
It's honestly no more lonesome than the other DLCs where you're similarly under limited companionship and the majority presence is shit that wants you dead. I think there was just a creative clash between wanting the last DLC to be a challenge for max level Courier and wanting a thematic experience.
