Have you thanked Okran today, brothers?
>>730625205kenshi 2 when?
Is the Holy Nation even wrong about anything?>Hivers are nice, but can turn into a giant flesh-eating horde at the drop of a hat>Purple klingons are living war machines>Skeletons are lying. THEY'RE ALL LYING. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.The only "weird" thing about them is that they're basically Muslims when it comes to women, but compared to the ancapistan "it is literally illegal to be poor" shithole next door I'd say they're the best human faction.
>>730625676They're actually right about everything, which I think is very funny. HN territory is by far the safest place in Kenshi so they're obviously doing a good job.
>>730625676they're right about everything ESPECIALLY women
>>730625676>Is the Holy Nation even wrong about anything? The skeletons. Both Okran and Narko are skeletons. The ancients were gonna get rid of the humans just like they did with the behemoths but the skeletons intervened. Their new civilisation preserved the humans but had to do come up with some questionable ideas to keep it going, with the creation of shek as the new police, since skeletons can't make more skeletons and whatnot and some aggressive rules to keep people in check during the internal wars and the hivers popping up out of nowhere. The HN is doing the right thing in the context they ended up in, but they have no clue about their own history or how things ended up the way they are. You could also argue the shek queendom is doing the best they can with they have.
>>7306253092049
>>730626018They're also objectively the only thing stopping Fogmen and the Cannibal Hordes from overruning basically half the map, but that won't stop every single redditoid from destroying them because being sexist is somehow worse than dooming countless people to horrible deaths.
>>730626196
>>730626172The shek are a bioweapon created to control/kill humans so the HN are right to hate them too. Although none remember this.
>>730626172>He doesn't knowTry talking with the tech hunter Skeleton leader with another skelly anon. Alone. Without any human around.
>>730626520The shek were originally created to act as peacekeepers and all was fine during the second empire until it started to ruin. The humans only started resenting the skeletons after it all started going to shit.>>730626660And what exactly is he hiding from the humans? Just because he's hiding something it means that "something" is that the skeletons were always plotting to kill all the humans and all their work saving the humans after the ancients left was part of great scheme? Also the anti-slavers, led by a skeleton, freeing human slaves are yet another plot of the skeles to kill all humans? All the skeletons living in peace far away from everyone or in the black desert, not openly hostile to anyone are all secretly murdering lone humans and disposing of their body so nobody finds out before it's too late? There were multiple disagreeing factions during the second empire, which is part of what led to their instability and the following war.
>>730625309Not for a long time. Also its UE5. I'm filled with a sense of dread, its either gonna be in dev hell forever or it'll be an unoptimized mess.
>>730627089Why not both?
>>730627084They were said to be created to be enforcers, guards for the child prisons and other horrible things in the second empire, and its implied they were used as troops against the humans when war broke out. The humans resented skeletons because it was the skeletons that tried to wipe out humanity, the original phoenix was a true hero of humanity who saved the people. It wasnt until Stobe sacrificed himself to save humanity that some of the skeletons felt deep regret for what they did, and ever since they've isolated themselves to wallow in their greif, or outright wiping their memories so they dont have to feel sad anymore. The skeletons who do remember are collectively keeping a secret from everyone else about how they tried to genocide all humanity and how they are responsible for the bombed out hellscape state of the world. Iyo admits this when you speak to him as a skeleton, "Look, you don't need to worry... no one will ever know the truth. As long as I am Finch's second-in-command, I will see to that myself."He also has notes that have been erased, he is actively erasing history to protect his kind from any repercussions for their actions. They're not good guys.
>>730627513They're not a single unified body either and the first war that wiped out the behemoths happened before the second empire, the shek, the child prisons and all of that.
The lack of a fatigue/stamina system always felt odd to me in Kenshi.>Starving to death escaped slave? If you've been doing your cardio you can literally just sprint past the guards and run into the wilds for days straight, the second you reach the point that your run speed is 22 mph you can effectively ignore 99% of the games threats>Want to go from Shun to Darkfinger? Just click the map, go take a piss, come back to PC and (if you didn't get stuck in pathfinding hell and eaten) you'll still be sprinting to your destination>Slaves working in mines don't even need to sleep, they just do it for fun>You can quite literally fight for an entire year without ever stopping to take a breather, assuming you have a backpack full of food and enough enemies to keep you fighting>Made your own town? Beds are quite literally useless for anything but healing wounds.
>>730627620You're right I'm getting the stobe timeline mixed up, but that brings me to an even more important point, the skeletons tried to wipe out humanity not once but TWICE. Stobe saving them the first time around, Catlon trying to do the right thing by humanity and rule as a benevolent dictator but ending up making everything worse. They were a single unified body and continue to be, broken skeletons and second empire loyalists being the exceptions. But they all collectively keep the secret. Not a single skeleton in game tells anyone what really happened, which implies collective guilt.
>>730627646Its like Chris wanted to make a fun game, not a faggot simulator.
>>730626079 Praise Okran, smite the heretics, bless the wheat fields. Every morning I wake up and thank our Lord for another day untainted by tech heresy and bone-rattling skellies. Let the weak flee to the swamps and deserts-the faithful thrive in light.
>>730627826The first empire was not skeleton based.Think about, the first empire created the skeletons and the skeletons cannot create more skeletons so they couldn't have been the same people. The first empire was made up of some much more advanced being that fucked off of the moon long long ago, they have space travel. The skeletons don't have any of that.It was the ancients who tried to wipe out the moon before leaving, cleaning up after themselves. They left some stragglers behind, thinking they'd just die on their own later, not having the support structure of their empire (which, giving the state of the world in the game, isn't wrong, it'll just take a few more centuries).Instead of the humans starving to death and the skeletons being rusting away sad and miserable. They taught the humans how to farm and protected them. The humans can multiply, the skeletons can't, so they used the humans to rebuild society and try to reach their previous technological level and maybe leave the moon, create more skeletons or just keep living in peace. The skeletons are level headed enough to not solve their problems with each other through war. They understand they're all in the same boat, they just disagree on where they're gonna take that boat. So they have their different point of views and ideas but can leave it aside. The humans multiplied, the resources they had didn't follow the same growth and the hivers showed up, putting more strain on their society. And there were only so many skeletons. Then starts the genetic engineering that created the shek and the spiders and all the internal bickering because the skeletons couldn't agree with each other and resources to keep the humans alive were dwindling. The humans resent the skeletons because to them the skeles were to blame for the lack of resources. Some skeletons then turn against the humans and this eventually leads to their war, breaking the second empire.
>>730628515The humans also can't tell skeletons apart if they're the same model, which is why Narko and Okran are the same. The skeletons both saved them and, in their eyes, tried to kill them.
>>730628515The first empire was ruled by humans, or at least thats what I interpreted it as, and humans created the skeletons. This is all speculation, there is no record of what actually happened with the first empire, but it seems obvious to me that the skeletons turned on their masters (why else would Catlon feel bad and try to help by rebuilding society).Stobe is Chitrin, Okran and Narko are said to be the two halves of Chitrin born from his body, so who knows if they were actually real or if they are just religious hoodoo. Anyway from what we know in-game its obvious the Skeles did some real bad shit and they feel eternal soul-crushing guilt over it.
>>730625205I've got a huge squad now of 30+ people, still very bad stats allround.I want to settle in Shem but still haven't done any research that requires anciant books and engineering research.Do I need to research everything so I don't get my base raided to hell?
>>730629045walls gates and static defenses
>>730629045Not everything, just walls, defenses, food and mining. You will need tons of building materials and iron plates, and quite a lot of electrical components too, so stone, iron and copper are a must. Make sure you've got enough crops to get some farms started, you'll need a lot of food for 30 people. Other than that, I wouldnt stress about raids too much. The only raids in Shem are band of boners, black dragon weebs and dust faggots, all of those groups are pretty weak. They usually get decimated by the wandering beak things in Shem.A strong gate with a couple of harpoon turrets behind it will clean up most raids so dont worry.
>>730628970>The first empire was ruled by humansCouldn't have been. If they were, then why are the humans so low on their totem pole? Humans were supposed to be self replicating unspecialised manual labour, the skeletons are ageless but too expensive for mass production and would cut on profits, if the moon was some sort of exploratory colony of sorts. They had the skeletons for skilled labour, which is why they're smarter, they had to in order to complete their tasks. If the first empire was ruled by humans, then why haven't those humans recreated it? Why haven't they created any piece of technology even remotely close to what the ancients had? If the humans ruled the first empire then they built the skeletons, why aren't they still building skeletons to this day? The UC would love to be able to produce skeletons, can you imagine how profitable that'd be? And yet they don't. The humans of kenshi are way way bellow the ancients. The skeletons themselves, much more physically powerful and smarter than the humans are still nothing to the ancients. When they left they didn't bother taking the skeletons with them. As resource intensive as producing a skeleton would be, they aren't worth the space they take up in the ancient's spaceships, that's how low they are and the humans are even lower. Even the behemoths weren't worth the hassle. The ancients couldn't possibly have been humans.
>>730629770Where are you getting this info from? None of that is said anywhere in the lore. Nobody knows what the first empire was composed of, who the dominant race was, or anything. All we know is there were humans and skeletons. It doesnt seem logical that the skeletons ruled, because someone had to have created them. Its very unlikely there was a third race involved because there are no remnants still around. They cant be hivers cos hivers are relatively recent, probably a second empire invention.
>>730627902Then make it a setting you can turn off. I like the idea of setting up camp at night to sleep and making a trip across the desert into something you actually need to make sure you are prepared for and not just something you do on a whim after eating a single piece of beef jerky and sprinting there in seconds. Also, speaking of "sprinting there in seconds", yeah a 100 Athletics/speed/etc character with Masterwork scout legs and 100 "endurance" or whatever the relevant Fatigue stat would be SHOULD be able to just blitz through the desert in less than a day- but that should not be something a one armed newly escaped Slave who hasn't eaten a proper meal in months should be able to do.
>>730630613I have access to the same information as you do, I'm just piecing it all together a different way. I don't see how humans could be so fucked today if they used to be the ruling class in the first empire. They'd have to have went from rulers of the universe (they had space travel), to essentially serfs/slaves, to two miserable tribes delaying and denying their inevitable and graceless demise, with a few smaller and even more miserable groups sprinkled around for flavour. I stated my reasoning for it in the previous reply. The ancients being an entirely different race adds the complexity of one added race to this theory, sure, but it also solves the question of how it is possible for the first empire to be so advance while no one is capable of recreating anything close to it after it fell.>hiversWhere those come from I don't really know nor do I have a good theory for it. I don't think they were created by the second empire but I do think they showed up during the second empire.
>>730631498the world seems to have flooded and un flooded at the beginning and end of the first empire, along with a few other cataclysmic events like the giant crater overlapping the grid. That sort of collapse of infrastructure happens and loads of things can be forgotten in a few hundred years. People forgot about the assyrian empire before alexander the great. If the skeletons can keep chemical propelled munitions from developing, they can cover up the first empire, especially most first empire ruins look like they where flooded during the 2nd.
>>730632246>floodsEverything does seem to indicate that the moon is regularly flooded or has seasons of very high tide. But we can't be sure it happened precisely at point point during the first empire, for all we know it could have always been flooded or unflooded during the entirety of it.The crater in the grid, as well the grid itself, is artificial. It could have happened later in the first empire or at some point during the second empire. If it happened early in the first empire and it was important, they'd probably repair it. Maybe the crater was an attempt at sabotage the stragglers left behind by the ancients by blowing up vital infrastructure.>If the skeletons can keep chemical propelled munitions from developingI don't think the ancients had this technology in use. I'm sure they knew about it but they seem to advance to have made use of it, like it was some relic of their past that they moved on from long ago. They probably used lasers or something. They had those from the Eye.If the skeletons are trying to keep that tech (be it lasers or firearms) from the humans, it would mean the skeletons would have to know about that tech themselves, which I don't think they do, else it would have been used in the second empire and we have no reason to assume that.>can cover up the first empireBesides the tech, what would there even be to cover up? If the humans were the rulers in the first empire, what would them knowing that change? The okranites would get real confused if they found out the humans themselves built the skeletons they now so hate, maybe? If the ancients were some third race that isn't around anymore, why would the skeletons care to cover for them? The skeletons do want to cover up what happened in the second empire, they did some fucked up shit there when they were in charge but for the first empire? Why would they bother covering it up (besides maybe the tech)?
>>730626018>>730625676>safest placeIsn't half their territories in the most hyper-fertile land that isn't a swampy spider infested shithole and beak-things conveniently avoid even the surrounding areas? They're still the best if you aren't a sk*leton apologist
>>730632983when you run a civilisation born from an uprising, you don't want a subject people remembering what came before, that's just inviting revanchism, at the very least you don't teach them actively how you blew up loads of infrastructure. Robots today don't bring up the first because people will ask about the second. If you're working with environmental engineering on the level they must have and hydroponics, you can figure out enough about combustive materials to be able to make guns and for hobbyists to make them in their garage.
Skellies rise upHumans maybe put them down?Skellies take overBut the fist of iron is to much so they rebelQueue multiple empires rising and fallingPretty much how I understand it. Sheks were made as enforcers at some point, could have been the first empire. Bugmen were techs of some sort maybe. We are trapped on a tide locked moon. Who knows if there are other himans out there somewhere.
and where does jrpg_race fit into all of this
