One of the issues it that the games that get popular do so because of things that aren't the technical or gameplay side, but rather, the aesthetic and writing side.If people simply strove to play better games that are actually great examples of what you COULD do with the engines instead of paying money for default-systems sludge that just happens to LOOK pretty, then people's opinions would improve drastically overnight.

It's gotten to a point where the way they sell the versions to you shows how much they just want you buying plugins for later versions. I regret buying MV/Z because my steam feed is nothing but announcements of them selling asset packs and other bullshit. It's just become less honest overtime.
