Then other people took those lessons and improved the medium, and so on for the last two (if not three) decades and Nintendo and their in-house lead designers and producers with tenure don't know what or how to keep up, and since the Japanese lack self-awareness and are incapable of respectfully telling hasbeens to fuck off, we get... whatever the fuck games like Breath of the Wild and Metroid Prime 4 are, and that's just the more recent examples.I stand to reason Nintendo has produced nothing of any lasting or meaningful impact in the century.
